My London Experience By: Nicollette Petersen

When getting the opportunity to go on Graphic Design London, I jumped at the chance. Now looking back on it I am completely happy that I decided to go. It was the best experience I’ve had to date. On March 9, 2013 I left the country for the first time ever and every day since then I have wished I was in London. I knew before I even got there that I was going to fall in love with a city, and I was completely in love. Before going to London I thought that the only place for me was New York City but now going to Europe just once I know I will be traveling at any chance that I get. Everyone always asks what was my favorite part of the trip and the thing that always comes to mind first is the visit to Von Olivers house. Not only did we get to meet a famous designer but he opened up his house to us and showed us all of his personal work. I don’t think I’ve ever been so inspired in my lifetime until Von Oliver opened up his house and shared his work with us. He was just so down to earth that it made the experience even better than imagined. The next moment that I think of when I think of my favorite of the trip would have to be the light show. The light show wasnt even on the original agenda but it became a favorite along everyone in the class. There was a room that the lights made you feel like you were under a cloth or piece of material and you were enclosed in the light, the only word I can think to describe it is beautiful. Every room was breathtaking and made you just want to stay there forever. In a heartbeat I would go back to London. It was completely perfect and felt like home. 19
