Welcome to the inaugural issue of

TREND’ IN Magazine, produced in Tegucialpa, Honduras. It was founded with the aim of providing space for new and hot bloggers with amazing fashion ideas everybody should know. I was initially unsure as to the quality of submissions that a debut publication would be able to attract, but these concerns have thankfully proven unfounded. I hope you will agree. I love print literary journals and magazines and subscribe to many of them, but they are expensive to run and produce. Australia’s Wet Ink magazine recently closed down, stating that going digital was an option they had considered, but for them it was not a “meaningful alternative”. This is understandable. Wet Ink was a professionally and beautifully produced magazine which paired fresh writing with exciting design, artistry and layout—an effect which is not feasible in most e-books. In a move to digital, something profound would have been lost.

Tincture Journal focuses purely on the text, specifically targeting e-ink devices, but is also readable on mobile phones, tablets and desktop computers. Hopefully you will find the e-book to be well produced and the quality of the selected works can speak for themselves. This is a not-for-profit venture, funded solely by myself, with the aim of always paying writers for their work. Unfortunately it is a small payment, but I hope this at least provides some level of push-back against the proliferation of online content that expects writers to submit their work purely for exposure.

V FILES GOES VINTAGE

V

Files, you know it as the one-stop Mercer Street shop famous for its international cool-kid wares and its unique, engaging social-media platform. But as of this month, the store has added a notably more traditional branch to its hyper-hip oeuvre: an expertly sourced vintage capsule dubbed Voyageur Du Temps, replete with pieces from Chanel, Gianni Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, and more. Sourced from private dealers worldwide, VFiles’ collection of covetable collectibles— which includes a graffiti-and-vinyl Hermès tote and a cotton-candy-pink Céline knapsack—sprung from one of the site’s most popular clicks: a digitized Chanel lookbook from 1994. Recognizing a thirst for vintage among its followers, the brand decided to fashion its own trove of archived accoutrements. Pieces from Voyageur Du Temps are available now online and at VFiles’ 12 Mercer Street location in New York City. Prices range from $300 to $3,000.

CANDELA IN THE WILD

andela’s Gabriela Perezutti is a master multitasker. Having been raised on a ranch in Uruguay, Perezutti—a former model, as well as a mother of twins—not only designs her laid-back contemporary clothing range but also runs one of her family’s estancias, maintaining over eighty horses from five thousand miles away. The two aren’t completely disconnected—in fact, the former has a hand in inspiring the latter. Perezutti launched Candela (which means “light” in Spanish) in 2004, after seeing a gritty 1971 photograph of her mother riding a bucking bronco. The photo now hangs in Perezutti’s Soho studio, alongside other vintage family snapshots that serve as reminders of her gaucho roots—roots that have a notable influence on her collections. “I always do the [gaucho] reference, but not in an obvious way. I balance romantic, soft things with pieces that have a rustic edge to them, so the look isn’t too precious. Styling is important in that sense,” she said at a preview of her new Resort 2014 collection, which debuts here onation in New York City. Prices range from $300 to $3,000. Staying true to the brand’s aesthetic, the latest lineup includes pieces such as feminine lace gowns and tiered skirts, handbeaded jackets, and embroidered tunics based on ones her grandmother used to own. Knits—which were shown in breezy pastels for Resort—are a growing category for Candela, thanks to their reasonable price point (around $300). Another popular category for the brand is footwear, which now accounts for 50 percent of Candela’s sales.

F PARSONS ELECTRONIC SYMPHONY

“I

f we’re presenting this project for a bunch of 30- to 80-year-olds, I’m not going to go crazy and show some sort of Thierry Mugler suit,” said Gabi Asfour at Parsons The New School for Design. “What we’re proposing is an update on the orchestra’s classical wardrobe.” Asfour was referring to a yearlong project between Parsons and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, in which the latter’s musical director Marin Alsop challenged students to reimagine the future of symphonic showcasing. Asfour—who, in addition to teaching, runs his own label, Threeasfour—oversaw the initiative’s fashion and design development in collaboration with Sabine Seymour, the director of the Fashionable Technology Lab at Parsons. “We have three performances, starting with projection mappings on a pianist,” he said. Asfour and his student team have created a diaphanous ivory gown (”You’d better have white stockings on show day!” Asfour told the performer), on which animations of waves and wiggling digi-worms dance in tandem with the performer’s keystrokes. The second act applies sensory technology directly in the clothing. Two percussionists will wear reflective-sleeved oxfords, embedded with transmitters that generate projections based on rhythm. Asfour and co. also streamlined traditional orchestra garb. For instance, there’s a repurposed men’s Halston jacket with mesh vent insets, and a bow tie grafted from cutaway shirt fabric.

act: Kids tend to be embarrassed by their parents. However, when your mother is a supermodel, it changes things a bit. Or, at least, that seems to be the case with Georgia May Jagger and Jerry Hall, who hosted a tea party at the Sunglass Hut’s Fifth Avenue flagship yesterday in celebration of their new Mother’s Daythemed campaign. “She’s my style hero,” said Jagger of her glamazon mom. “My sister has great style too—all the women in my family do, actually.” It’s no surprise, then, that the leggy blonde twosome mirrored each other—with Hall sporting a leopard-print dress and Jagger in leopard-print platforms. As for raiding her daughter’s closet? “I certainly do for sunglasses,” Hall admitted. In fact, a sunnies-fueled spat unfolded before our very eyes. When Hall couldn’t find her favorite black cat-eye shades, she realized that her daughter had been holding them. “Those ones are mine!” Hall said, smiling. “Oh, we’re just fighting over sunglasses.”

LUHRMAN GETS GRILLED ON GATSBY

I

wanted the audience to feel like the people who read Gatsby in the twenties,” said director Baz Luhrmann during yesterday’s intimate luncheon and discussion of The Great Gatsby at the New York Public Library. “Back then, it was dangerous and of the moment.” Following a string of stylish events and a splashy New York premiere worthy of any Fitzgerald novel, the event was a scholarly affair hosted by Anna Wintour, NYPL President Tony Marx, and editor in chief of The New Yorker, David Remnick. The latter moderated a Q&A with the film’s star-studded cast and crew. Just steps from the library’s trove of Fitzgerald first editions, the film’s stars, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, and Carey Mulligan (DiCaprio was absent), offered insight into playing some of literature’s most memorable characters. “Daisy became a cocktail of a lot of research,” revealed Mulligan, who plumbed Princeton’s archives for the author’s intimate correspondence with muses Zelda Fitzgerald and Ginevra King. “I fell in love with these two women. The more I read their words, the more real Daisy became.” Fisher, who plays the downon-her-luck Myrtle Wilson, admitted that her character’s capricious tendencies were hardly far-fetched.

However, whether you’re heading to Churchill Downs or celebrating at home with a mint julep, picking the appropriate race day hat can be a trying task. Luckily, we were able to get a hold of London-based milliner Piers Atkinson, whose something of an expert on the subject. This spring, Atkinson launches his second Racing Collection (above). Crafted from feathers and straw in a palette of black and white (a nod to My Fair Lady, he tells us), Atkinson’s range presents an updated, witty take on a time honored sartorial tradition. (Speaking of wit, his look book cleverly showcases the collection on a set of Barbie dolls.)

MUST KNOW

BE A FASHION BLOGGER BY NICK REMSEN

PHOTOS GETTYIMAGES

We give you some advice on how to be a fashion blogger without a DSLR or other things

H

ave you ever been afraid to start something a new blog, a new project, or whatever? Or told yourself you’d start when you have _______ (fill in the blank)? I know I have. We’re so good at putting things off because we don’t have the latest thing (camera, phone, bag). We get paralyzed because we start comparing ourselves to others and think we can’t be that good, and then we quit, before we even begin. I’m here to tell you that you don’t need all the things you think you need to be a successful fashion blogger, the only thing that’s important is that you are YOU. And that you start where you are, and use what you have.

Don’t have a DSLR?

Use a point & shoot, or your phone. One of the very first outfit-of-the-day blogs was a girl taking pictures of her outfits in the mirror everyday and I’m pretty sure we all know how things have taken off since then. Back in the day (2004-2005) we just wanted to show what we were wearing – photo quality wasn’t that

important. Now so many style bloggers have their pictures taken by their husbands or boyfriends, with a DSLR, outside, in a beautiful setting, that in can seem very intimidating if you’re stuck taking your outfit photos outside on your balcony with your point & shoot on a tripod using a timer (raises hand!). The fact is, excellent quality photographs go a very long way towards making your blog appealing, pin-worthy, etc., but it’s NOT THE ONLY THING that’s important. If I had to wait for a perfect setting and for my husband (who works a million hours a week running his OWN company) to take my pictures, I’d never get any up, so I do the best with the resources I have, which has always served me well.

Can’t afford Photoshop?

Use iPhoto, pixelmator, or gimp to crop and edit your photos & create graphics. I used to use Fireworks & Dreamweaver back when I was coding my website, but for many years, I’ve just used iPhoto to edit my photos & Pixelmator to create graphics. Since both of these work well for me, I’ve not seen a reason to change, but I may at some point in the future. Figure out what tools you need to do your best work on your blog and then use the most affordable one you can find right now. Aspire to upgrade when your blog becomes profitable, or you’re ready to invest in a new resource, but you don’t have to start out with the best, most expensive tool there is. Don’t have the skills or the money? Start small and learn as you go. It’s a million times easier to start a blog now than it was when I started, but I still see people get hungup on “the little things” related to design & creating a blog, which brings them close to giving up. I happen to be the world’s biggest self-hosted WordPress fan, but if Blogger appeals to you or having a WordPress.com blog is easier for you, then take that route. Don’t let all the people preaching WordPress stop you before you start: you can move platforms later if you really want to, but at this moment, what’s more important is to go with your instinct, and what is easiest for you to manage.

29 TREND’ IN JUNIO 2013

In the beginning, you don’t have to have a customized theme, or pretty social media buttons, unless you already know how to do that. And I certainly wouldn’t recommend paying $1,000 + to have someone design something for you right off the bat. Start creating content, play around yourself with css and your theme, read tutorials, copy ideas from other blogs and maybe you’ll learn enough that you won’t have to pay someone else to do it for you. If by the time your blog is profitable, you want to hire someone to re-do it for you, then definitely do it, but please don’t get hung up on your blog’s theme being PERFECT right from the start. I have talked to way too many bloggers who get stuck on the theme being perfect before creating content. I guarantee your readers aren’t worried as much about how pretty the theme is as you are; they’re focused on content. And anyway, with more and more people reading blogs on mobile (25% of my blog’s visitors are via mobile) or in bloglovin’, on Facebook, etc., they might not ever SEE your desktop theme.

Don’t have business cards?

Make your own. I’ve seen lots of hand-made business cards in my time, and they’re always more interesting than a lot of “over-designed” ones. Buy a stamp and business card printer paper, actually print photographs, cut them up, and put your information on the back. Use index cards to print your information on. You want the people you meet and interact with to remember YOU, and I guarantee a handmade business card created with passion will get the job done. Unfortunately nowadays it seems as if to be a successful, popular fashion blogger you have to look like all the other successful, popular fashion bloggers. It’s NOT TRUE, being you is what sets you apart and is what will ultimately make you successful. Celebrate yourself, and don’t be afraid to start where you are. Everyone has to start somewhere; perfection takes time. Focus on the big stuff: content, content, content, while constantly striving for improvement, and presenting everything you do with passion – it’s contagious and will keep people coming back to your blog. Have you done this? Worked your way up to having better tools once your blog became more successful? Or have you been afraid to start because you DON’T have the best tools?

T

his spring and summer fashion collections have made their way to the runways. Most “designers” have once again taken inspiration from the classic designs of the 1960’s. The era where “Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis” set the trend for classic fashion. In regards to color, the spring of 2013 will usher in lots of black and solid crisp white fashions, and tons of black and white combinations. Be ready to see lots of soft shades of white, neutrals, as well as all the predictable pastels on the racks this spring. Again this spring the color red will hold its own, paired with navy and white, to give fashions that “all American look”. As for the last four years, stripes remain to hold on, and were all over the spring runways. One more big trend that I should mention, lace. Lace is being added to fashions in the most peculiar places. For more fabolous DIY projects visit: www.daretodiy.com

37 TREND’ IN JUNIO 2013

TRIANGLE BODY SHAPE BEST FEATURES Shapely legs, a trim waist and head-turning hips give your body feminine appeal. Common pitfalls. “You have a slender upper body, so your instinct might be to show it off with slim-fitting shirts,” says Saboura. Resist the urge! Tiny tops throw off your body’s balance, making your bottom look bigger than it is. TOPS When you think about tops, think layers. Creating balance for your shape is all about filling out your upper half. “A cardigan is your best friend,” says Saboura, because it adds lightweight volume. For cooler weather, try cropped jackets that stop at the waist (channel Jackie O. for inspiration). Don’t be afraid to show a little skin, too. Three-quarter sleeves, wide scoop necks, and one-shoulder tops all look great on you. BOTTOMS Boot-cut pants are best for your body. “The slight flare helps to balance out curves, especially if you wear them with a heel to give your legs a little length,” Saboura suggests. Go for dark, mediumrise jeans with simple stitching and pockets in the back. For skirts and dresses, try a classic A-line cut that falls softly over your curves and highlights your trim waist. Avoid high waists and pleated skirts—they’re made for filling out figureless femmes. FABRICS AND FLAIR Draw the eye up with bright colors and embellished tops. Saboura says, “Try a boatneck shirt with horizontal stripes,” or a cardigan with rosette detailing. Chunky jewelry can work well for you too, adding interest up top. Prints and patterns are fine for your lower body, but aim for darker colors.

MUST KNOW

CIRCLE BODY SHAPE BEST FEATURES Slender legs, slight shoulders and a trim booty give your figure a graceful allure. Common pitfalls. “Circles often try to cover up their bodies,” says Saboura, “but that’s the opposite of what they should do.” Showing off your neckline, forearms and a little leg (just a little!) looks elegantly classy—not to mention younger, longer and leaner. TOPS Your body is soft and round, so your goal is to add structure, especially on top. Try a structured jacket (like a blazer). “Draw angles and lines across your body with wrap dresses or asymmetrical hemlines,” suggests Saboura. Draped fabrics, cowl necks and flutter sleeves look great on you, too, for a feminine flourish. If you feel like you need more support, layer with a dressy tank top that has a bit of lycra. BOTTOMS You’ve got great legs, so show ’em off! A slim, straight leg or bootcut is perfect for you, and wearing a heel “takes off a little weight and shows off your legs,” says Saboura. Dresses with ruching or gathering hide the tummy, creating an hourglass effect. FABRICS AND FLAIR Prints and patterns look great on you, especially on your upper body. Go for large floral or geometric prints to flatter your figure—small prints won’t do the trick. Stick to weighty fabrics (like heavy cotton, wool or muslin) that have more natural structure.

39 TREND’ IN JUNIO 2013

HOURGLASS BODY SHAPE BEST FEATURES Big breasts, a slim waist and curvy hips make your figure the crème de la crème of feminine beauty. Common pitfalls. Your figure has natural allure, so you may be tempted to give too much away. “Everyone is trying to mimic the hourglass curve, but you’ve already got it,” Saboura says. “Show off a bit, but don’t give away all your curves.” TOPS Simplicity is key for you. Look for clean, simple tops with scoop necklines and three-quarter sleeves. Avoid layering, and look for waist belts that help define your tiny tummy. You look best in princess seams—long, shapely seams that gather in at the waist and flare out again at the hips—that have a smooth, snug look and show off your contours. Fitted jackets look great on you, but “they need to be really well tailored,” says Saboura. “Choose jackets that nip in at the waist and flair out, like a poplin jacket.” BOTTOMS You look best in skirts that stop at or below the knee, not above it. Pencil skirts look great on you, as do bootleg pants and skinny jeans. Choose pants or skirts that follow your natural curve, and go for fitted options (but not too tight). “Embrace your silhouette,” says Saboura. “The sexiness is in seeing the curve, not giving it all away.” FABRICS AND FLAIR Keep it simple with solid colors. Prints can disguise your figure, rather than highlight it. The same goes for fabrics. Avoid extra fabric and draping, and opt for a bit of stretch. Color looks great on your body type, but monochromatic outfits look best (think: Mad Men’s Joan Holloway).

MUST KNOW

RULER BODY SHAPE BEST FEATURES Slender and often athletic, your build is easy to outfit. Common pitfalls. You have a naturally sporty look, so you may tend to choose simple, fitted cuts. “That can actually make you look boxy,” Saboura says. Instead, you want to use clothing to soften your body and create curves. TOPS When choosing a shirt, “avoid adding more square or straight lines,” Saboura advises. Instead, complement your natural lines with asymmetrical or rounded hemlines, and ruffle details. Halters look great on you, as do boatnecks and off-the-shoulder shirts. Since your body is naturally athletic, you’ll look more feminine in tank tops with a thin, delicate strap. The same goes for jackets and blazers: Look for soft shoulders and steer clear of boxy, cropped jackets. BOTTOMS High-waist pants look fantastic on you, as do wide leg trousers. Both add curves and volume to your lower body. “If you want to embrace a more masculine shape with a boyfriend jean, go for it,” says Saboura. “But put some drape and movement on top.” For a ladylike look, wrap dresses look great on you, since they draw angles and lines across the body. FABRICS AND FLAIR Use fabric to add softness and femininity to your look. Opt for lace, silk or lightweight fabrics, especially ones with natural draping. Embellished shirts and ruffle details add softness and give your body a bit more, well, body.

41 TREND’ IN JUNIO 2013

INVERTED TRIANGLE BODY SHAPE BEST FEATURES A tapered torso, trim waist and killer legs make you look confident and fit. Common pitfalls. Your legs are typically well-sculpted, so your instinct may be to show them off with fitted leggings. That works if you’re wearing a long top (below your booty), but in general, you want to add volume to your lower half. TOPS You look great in cowl necks and deep V-necks that help minimize a stronger upper body. Go for simple, fuss-free shirts (no ruffles!). For feminine flair, tops with gently draped fabric or flutter sleeves add movement and softness. Embrace your inner flapper, and rock a drop-waist dress—a look that few can pull off! BOTTOMS You want to amplify your lower half to match the fullness of your upper body. Choose wide-leg pants or long skirts to create balance. As a general rule, look for flowy, full-bodied pants and skirts that make your lower body look bigger (yes, that’s a good thing). FABRICS AND FLAIR “Have fun with embellished, detailed shoes to call attention down,” suggests Saboura. (A reason to buy shoes? Umm, yes please!) The same goes for jewelry: Keep jewelry minimal on top, but get creative with bangles and rings to accessorize an outfit. Choose light colors and prints below the belt, and stick to darker colors on top for a more balanced look. Also, consider the size of your purse. “A small purse will amplify your torso,” Saboura explains. “Carry larger purses at your side or in the bend of your arm to avoid adding volume on top.”

Maybe you’re an impossibly gamine French girl in a little leather jacket and lunettes parfaites comme Buddy Holly; maybe you’re a businessman whose chalk-stripe lapel rolls just right, an envelopepushing hipster living your conviction that jodhpurs are underrated, or a barber or a child or a shepherd who has it, in some way, going on. You’re effortlessly stylish; you don’t try, you just are, or you’re able to make it look like you just are. Your Statement Hat is not wearing you, even though it’s the kind of Statement Hat that might try. You are not a life-support system for your beard. If you’re any of these things, Scott Schuman has been looking for you. For seven years, he has been taking pictures of welldressed people on the street and posting them on his blog, The Sartorialist. He’s a hunter of free-range sprezzatura, pounding the pavements of Manhattan and the boulevards of Paris and the cobblestones of Milan, a spy-movie montage’s worth of postcard cities, New Delhi and Berlin and Rio, anywhere he might encounter style roaming wild. Today in Florence it’s different, though—today some of his favorite subjects have come to him. They’ve come from America, from England and Spain and even Japan. Most of them have made multiple appearances on Schuman’s blog; most of them have never met before, but they seem to recognize one another on some tribal level. They all look amazing. Schuman stands in the street in front of the little trattoria where he’s treating them all to lunch, taking pictures as they arrive.

If you’ve ever searched for any beauty advice on You Tube you probably already know famous blogger, Michelle Phan. She is only 25 but she already ranked 10th in the world for most visited videos and ranked 20th in the world for the number of subscribers with 600 million hits across her YouTube videos. When she was 24 she was able to let her mum retire. The official video make-up artist for Lancôme, Michelle Phan is currently touring Australia for the Lancôme’s month of colour. While having her own blog Michelle Phan discovered that more and more readers were requesting videos of the make-up how-to pieces she was discussing on her blog. Launching her first video on YouTube in 2007, the tutorial received 40,000 views in the first week. 2 years later Lancôme asked Phan directly to partner with the brand when they stumbled across a video in which Phan was talking about a Lancôme product that had received 500,000 views.

INTERVIEW

when she was young and all she has ever done was work to support me and my brother as she was a single mum. I am showing Asian American girls that if they have a dream they should keep pursuing it. I am a living testimony. I started everything in my bedroom and with the webcam. I didn’t have any intentions of making money. There is a lesson to focus on being happy and not on money. At the end of the day happiness will bring you real wealth that you can never buy.

TI: How did you feel when Lancôme first approached you? MP: It was a fairy tale dream comes true. Two months before I made my first video back in 2007 I applied for a job at a Lancôme counter in a Department Store and they never called back. I was so upset. My mum told me “don’t cry because there is always a new opportunity tomorrow, you just have to be patient”. 2 years later I get an email from Lancôme that they were so impressed with the video and wondered if we could work together [this reminds me a little bit my story and how I got to the beauty industry <Kasia>]. Mum was so right. If I got the job at the Lancôme counter I would had not made the video as I would be busy working. Everything falls into its place and everything happens for a reason. When you first set up a video channel did you make it for fun or did you think it could be a potential business? When I first started there was no such business. People didn’t really make makeup tutorials. Beauty bloggers were just doing it for fun. No one really thought about this as an actual career. I did it mostly for my readers and my subscribers because they really needed help. My biggest dream was to help my mum retire early because she immigrated to America

Everything you do revolves around concepts of beauty. What makes something or someone beautiful? Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it. Beauty is subjective like art. Another one of my favorite painters is Johannes Vermeer. The way he was able to capture the quiet nature of everyday life, in the most simple and subtle ways in his work, the storytelling of his art just jumps off the canvas at you. Beauty truly is in the heart of the beholder – the heart evokes the beauty that we cannot see but feel. Michelle Phan is a self-taught make-up artist with her background in art. It makes me wonder if you think of the face as a sort of canvas? Absolutely! I didn’t start wearing makeup until I was in art school, and many of the techniques I learned on canvas, I applied to makeup. I think that artistic sensibility comes through in your videos too. I’m interested in why you primarily choose to do voice-overs instead of talking to the camera. As a young girl, I loved having stories read to me. There is something magical about narration and voiceovers. Recording a voiceover is an art form in itself. My production style is all about imagination. I want my audience to use their imagination when they watch my videos. My goal is for my voice to be that little hope of encouragement in your head when you walk out your door. I do have videos where I break

BEAUTY TIPS FOR HIM BY JIMMY ROCKWELL

Male Beauty Then and Now

W

hen I was younger and getting ready for a night out on the town, it would take half an hour at the most to transform myself from Mr slob to Mr super cool dude and all it took was a quick shower and shave, a dash of aftershave and a spray of deoderant before getting dressed and then taking the comb through my hair with a bit of bryl cream. Getting that half hour to use the bathroom was the most difficult part of my simple beauty regime because my sister would be in there for at least three hours getting ready for her night out on the town, shaving, plucking, applying her war paint(cosmetics) and whatever else women do when preening themselves. of course after the bathroom she would spend another hour or two in her bedroom, choosing her clothes and the accessories to match them. Women took alot more pride in their appearence than men in those days. Male grooming these days is on a par with the female grooming routine, and if my sister and I were both going out on the town we would have to have a roster to use the bathroom, men these days are taking a lot more pride in their appearance and want to look great when going out into the public eye. There are many new products on the market these days aimed at male grooming and personal

appearance and it is a thriving marketplace. From well manicured nails to male lipsticks and eyeshadows the modern man has a host of products to choose from to help him achieve the perfect look and as well as products, like women, men can also use cosmetic surgery to enhance their features remove unwanted fat and even have breast reduction surgery if they have man boobs. For men who worry about the size of their manhood there is a surgery available for that too. Taking that little bit of pride in your appearance not only helps you to look better, it gives your ego a little boost which gives you more confidence in yourself making it easier for you to socialise. You don’t have to spend a fortune to look your best though there a many ways to improve your appearance without breaking the bank and some ways that won’t cost a single cent.

10 Male Beauty Tips

SHAVING These days is optional, a lot of ladies love men who have a five oclock shadow, but if your facial hair is unkempt you would be better to take the razor to it and be clean shaven for your night out.

MUST KNOW NAILS Manicured nails look great on anyone, but you don’t have to break the bank to get yourself a good manicure, your mother and your sister, if you have one, have been doing their own nails for years and I am sure that they will gladly help you and offer you advice on nail care, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK. To enhance your well manicured nails a spot of clear nail polish or varnish will help them to stand out. SKIN Anti-aging creams work just as well on men as they do on women but they can leave your face with an unmasculine shine if you use these creams you should also purchase a couple of cosmetics to take the shine from your face a concealer and or a light foundation powder or cream. SKIN CLEANSING Cleaning your face with an apricot scrub gets rid of dead skin particles and leaves your facial skin feeling smoother and looking great it can also help prevent black heads and white heads. COSMETICS Choose any cosmetics carefully, although in reality there is no reason for a man to wear lipsticks, eye shadow, blushers or any of the many different cosmetics available, they can be used to enhance your best facial features, the best way to go about applying cosmetics is to seek out an expert who will show you how. If applied correctly Cosmetics can enhance your appearance but applied incorrectly they can leave you with an efeminate appearance which sends out the wrong signals. TEETH WHITENING No matter how often you clean your teeth the can become stained

67 TREND’ IN JUNIO 2013 from drinking tea, coffee, smoking and from eating different foods there are many different ways to whiten your teeth but the cheapest option is to use a whitening toothpaste although this might take a little longer than other methods to work they will give you a brighter smile in two to three weeks. FRESH BREATH Having whiter teeth doesn’t always mean that you have fresh breath, and although regular brushing does help investing in a good mouth wash is essential, mouthwash gets to parts of the mouth that brushing can’t reach leaving your breath fresher and your mouth cleaner. HAIR CARE Regardless of your hair type, it is important to use a shampoo that is gentle on your hair. Ingredients such as vitamin E are great for naturally strengthening and conditioning the hair follicles. Don’t be fooled by super fragrant shampoos, either. Be sure to read the labels, as these types of products can contain artificial ingredients that don’t do much for your hair. PUBIC HAIR To shave or not to shave is a matter of personal taste, if it feels right then go ahead an do it but if it doesn’t then don’t, You can manage hair growth on body parts by trimming the hair now and again with scissors taking care not to endanger your chances of having children in the future.
