CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Teaching and coaching actors, working in film, TV, theatre, other performing arts and broadcast media or in the corporate world as voice coach, vocal director, presenter and voice or speech practitioner

This is a course for those who wish to follow or develop their professional career in voice teaching and vocal training. It is ideal for actors, directors, drama teachers, singers and speech therapists/ pathologists. Your learning will be centered on embodied knowledge – learning through ‘doing’ – and a critical reflection on that experience. In small groups, you will engage in specialised study and practice in voice, speech and text. You will be empowered to develop your own artistic vision, as well as your capacity for leadership within the cultural, performance and academic communities. The course uses methods developed by leading international specialists such as Cicely Berry, Barbara Houseman, Arthur Lessac and Frankie Armstrong, among others. Throughout your course, you will foster and develop your cultural, individual and artistic voice through practice and critical thinking. In your final assignment, you will experience a four-week placement at a prestigious institutions nationally or internationally if travel is possible. Previous international placements include Toi Whakaari, University of Pretoria, Yale University, Carnegie Mellon University, Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and the University of California Long Beach. These placements will give you the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in teaching practice, forge industry connections and solidify future pathways.

OUR VOICE GRADUATES

Our graduates have been employed as Lecturer in Acting at Charles Sturt University, Head of Voice at Sydney Theatre School, and Voice Tutors on the NIDA BFA (Acting) course and LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore.
