10196NAT Diploma of Stage and Screen Performance Showcase 14 and 15 December 2021 NIDA Theatres, Space
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we learn and tell stories, from the lands of the Bidjigal and Gadigal people of the Eora nation where our campus stands, to the nations across this continent where we teach. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders past and present who have cared for land, water and story on these lands for generations. We also recognise the work and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, workers and creatives within the NIDA Community. Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
Stage and Screen Performance Showcase Welcome to the 2021 Showcase for NIDA’s Diploma of Stage and Screen Performance. This one-year, full-time program of study equips graduates with the foundational skills they need to perform in live and recorded contexts, and to collaborate with others in creating original content.
Liz Hughes CEO
Despite an uncertain year of production activity brought about by the COVID-19 lockdown, graduates from the course continue to have a significant impact on the entertainment industry and are being employed in a range of productions including The Wilds (Amazon Studios), RFDS (Network 7), Wakefield (ABC TV), Amazing Grace (Nine Network), Love Me (Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia) and Heartbreak High (Netflix). We trust you’ll enjoy the selection of work showcasing the acting of the current cohort and join me in congratulating them on a year of hard work and exceptional outcomes. NIDA is grateful for the generous support from the Australian Government and for the support of our corporate partners, trusts, foundations, supporters and donors. The objective of the Diploma of Stage and Screen Performance is to equally develop skills and knowledge for acting, and for creating original works for stage and screen. Students have explored the multiplicity of roles, technologies, and methodologies, that exist within the theatre, film, television, and digital industries, giving them the tools to develop their own stories. Ongoing tutors, and specialist industry guests, during 2021 included: Les Chantery, Angela Sullen, Garth Holcombe, Holly Austin, Troy Honeysett, Monica Sayers, Shane Anthony, Laura Farrell, Philip Quast, Catherine Van-Davies, Simon Burke, Kate Champion, Guy Simon, Laura Nagy and Sam Worthington.
