“Recognizing the need is the primary condition for design.” -CHARLES EAMES

Statement of purpose

The interplay between space and human psychology is significant. Space encompasses the volume of the structure, the part of the building we move, and experience. Each space has an impact on the human mind, Thus the space designed must account for its function and also to the user of that space incorporating nature into the human-built environment to take advantage of its positive psychological impact on restorative properties is explored. As an Architect, one has the sense and power to create and transform a space, making it more live and comfortable, tracing the very fundamental concept of thriving life. Develop an emotional and physical connection between the user and his surrounding moreover with self. Hence both of these are in a mutual relationship where one influences the other. to me, the internship program is an opportunity to enhance my design skills and the different approach towards a common situation and how they are transformed into realism. I am looking forward to contributing to your firm and to society. I believe i would be an excellent addition to your team who is keen to accept any challenges to achieve a common goal of designing solutions.

HELLO ! I am Nidhi Kumari, a fourth-year undergraduate architecture student from MNIT Jaipur. Architecture is just not creating buildings, but a multi-faceted approach to problem-solving. A process where technology and philosophy come together, is what I want to explore along with a hands on practical approach. This portfolio contains selected work from the last three years of my architectural academic period which refects my approach towards the design process. I am currently looking for an internship with an intention to learn about the practical field of architecture and contribute to society.

ADAPTIVE REUSE Jaipur “Adaptive reuse is a new kind of maintainable rebirth of city, as it covers the building’s lifetime and evades destruction waste, encourages recycles of the embodied dynamism” -Yung and Chan The project was to document an old bUilding named Police Commissionarate located in the centre of Jaipur city and create a new environment by repurposing its past. the building is thus adapted into a Heriatge Hotel which will reflect the past of the jaipur city.

POLICE COMMISIONERATE Jaipur the building dates back to the era of the ‘Indo-Saracenic’ style of architecture. It is an exhibit of elements such as arcaed, minarets, chajjas, and intricate patterns. it is currently being used as a headquaters for the traffic police of jaipur city. the structure is composed of thick stone masonry walls and stone ‘patti’ slabs. lime mortar has been used to plaster the wall. during the first phase of conservation, some of the walls were broken down and the spans were achieved by using steel girders.
