- Peggy Guggenheim Palazzo The legacy of Peggy Guggenheim consists of masterpieces of the last century. These masterpieces together tell the story of a revolutionary shift in thinking and acting.
It’s not easy to conceive the urban fabric of Venice in objective criteria. It is primarily a city you have to experience instinctively and intuitively. Behind every corner, alley or channel you’ll discover a new surprise or experience. This concept for the new Guggenheim takes a step in this context. The plan consists of 6 monolithic volumes that - together with the existing museum- will form one new, large palazzo. These buildings are scheduled around the beautiful courtyard, whereby the privacy and intimacy of the present remains guaranteed. These new alleys between the volumes make the Palazzo easily accessible from different angles. The different volumes are conceived as separate pavilions in which temporary exhibitions, installations,... can take place. In the underground, the different volumes will be connected so that the visitor can pass easily from one to another. On the ground floor there are also some openings, through which the casual visitor can get a glimpse at the museum and visit the grave of Peggy Guggenheim. The Guggenheim Palazzo is a tribute to the legacy of Peggy, an ode to the contemporary art, a gift to the city and its millions of visitors...

That led, among other things, to the abstract, surreal & Cubist art. This (r)evolution can be experienced again and again by the visitor. Literally by putting the works of art in a new frame between contemporary art, the museum keeps its character and image of being avant-garde.
