The art of what we do… …introducing our history, philosophy and services

- what we aim for…. was established by Nigel Walker between 2010 and 2012 when it opened it’s doors for the first time on 2nd June. It brings to Beverley and the surrounding area some of the best contemporary art of the age. Whilst this is not exclusively British most is and we are proud to work with local artists as well as national and international names.

It has always been our intention to provide:Excellent work - which means work meets high professional standards of skill, imagination and execution… A fair price - which means the skill of the artist, their reputation and experience is rewarded whilst minimising the cost to our customers….. Good service - we want to keep our customers informed, confident of what they buy and delighted with the service they receive….. Ways of engaging that customers can’t always get elsewhere…

This booklet tells you more about our services & how to get the best from us….

Three ways to buy …

Katharine Yelland silver triple pendent from her “Eclipse” collection

At

we give you three ways to buy…

1. Simply pay with cash or a credit or debit card in the gallery and walk away with your purchase. (You can also make a BACS payment or send a cheque if you have seen something you like and then phone or email us later. We can always sort out delivery too) 2. Leave a deposit and then make an additional one, two or even three payments to total the full amount. We’ll keep the work until you can fully afford it - but you will know it cannot be sold to anyone else. 3. Save a regular amount with us and build a fund for buying when you see something you like. Your money is kept in a separate account so it is always safe and, while we can’t pay interest, we will give a discount of 5% on purchases made with your fund..which is better than most other accounts can pay at present.

Please call at the gallery if you would like further details

Additional services Some things can be made much easier if galleries work with you. To make it as simple as possible we provide additional services. Home visits - placing the right piece in the right place is very important and it is often hard to tell in a gallery if something will look good in situ. We can arrange to bring pieces to your home for you to see them in place before you buy. There is a charge for this service deductable from any subsequent purchase. Corporate gifts - Buying a gift that is unique for a special client or a person leaving your company can be difficult if not impossible. But a unique present shows thoughtfulness and conveys the importance of the choice. Tell us something about the person and your budget and we’ll give you three options to consider. Art finding - Looking for something but can’t see it? Give us a brief and we’’ll try and find something suitable at no charge, with no obligation High quality printing for artists and photographers - working alongside Beverley based Visual Evidence we can provide high quality, archival prints at a price most internet companies can’t match. Just ask…

Advice on buying Art is best bought to enjoy, to enhance your surrounds and your life. Anyone who tells you art is investable is only partly right. French critics in the 1890’s had never heard of van Gogh. If you want to buy as part of an investment portfolio then you will be taking a chance. It is highly unlikely that the value of any art you buy will increase vastly during your lifetime, although some artists have reputations which mean their work is likely to maintain it’s value. Apart from paintings prints can be a less costly investment if you buy wisely. A wellproduced, signed and numbered, limited edition print of archival quality may hold value well and be more re-saleable than a painting, albeit not of as high a value. But get expert advice before buying. High print runs and poor quality printing methods produce nothing more than copies, not valued work. Ask us for more information which we will gladly share.

To help our customers gain a good understanding of all aspects of art we regularly run talks, lectures, demonstrations and classes. From discussions on the value of art through to lectures about art history and notable changes in how art is perceived and adapted we invite artists and art historians to present their ideas, explain their work and place context around what the gallery tries to achieve. For latest information and details please visit our website and check out the relevant sidebars www.creationfinearts.co.uk

Partnership is important! It isn’t only our customers who are important but our artists too. We work closely with them to provide up-to-date work at prices which try to ensure we all survive. Our prices include no VAT as we do not trade above the threshold. We also work with other galleries and you can see how this works by looking at www.eastcoastgalleries.com which shows a selection from this area. Or working with sixteen Bulgarian printmakers to import work not otherwise available in Britain Local artists are an important source of work and so co-ordinating with East Riding Artists (ERA) and the local council is also important to us. We are also keen to work with local businesses when this seems possible so if you have a proposition to put to us (art on your walls for a commission; leaving parties at the gallery; a pop-up in an empty space) then talk to us.
