ave you seen the “Dragon of Steel” or the “Futuristic Steam Engine” sitting with the monster trucks parked outside All Out Off Road, home of the Lonestar Speed Shop? If you didn’t see them driving down 90A, you’ll have to catch them Thursday nights on CMT. More than fancy bells and whistles, those amazing machines make it possible for hardworking Americans to get their jobs done right. Owner Chance Kamp says, “We’ve always said that if you can drive it, we can trick it out. Our first season on the new CMT show, ‘Trick My What!’ hosted by John Scheider really put us to the test...and we’re up to the challenge!”
Have you been missing out on the hottest “Watch Party” in town? Visit the “Trick My What” Facebook page to become a friend and get updates on the location of the next local party...from 7 to 10pm on a Thursday night near you! You can meet the guys, get autographs, see their favorite tricked-out vehicles, enter a drawing for an awesome prize, pick up your own LSS merchandise...and watch with friends as the team tricks out anything with an engine that helps a hard-working American put food on the table. John says, “The heart of the show is finding out about the amazing things real folks do to earn a living and fixing up the unusual equipment they need to get those jobs done. Planting cabbages at Froberg’s Family Farm in Alvin or spreading asphalt in Alvin really brought home how important these vehicles are to families.” If you or someone you know is a blue-collar, all-American hero in need of a helping hand, our hometown heroes at the Lonestar Speed Shop can help. Not Another Free-Standing “Vein Clinic” Sarah Warburton
Y
ou wouldn’t want your auto mechanic to perform your open heart surgery or a math teacher to install your dishwasher, would you? If varicose veins are making your legs tired and sore, if you’re self-conscious about the way they look and uncom-
fortable standing or staying active, why wouldn’t you go to someone who actually specializes in veins? “Varicose veins are more than a cosmetic problem, they’re a vascular health problem,” says Dr. Ulises Baltazar, MD. “Veins are the blood vessels responsible for carrying blood to the heart, from all parts of the body. They have one-way valves inside. When the valves in these vessels are unhealthy, blood can then flow backward and pool inside the vein, so it swells...leading to venous diseases like spider veins, varicose veins
and venous stasis ulcers. This isn’t some free-standing “vein clinic” that also offers laser hair reduction or other cosmetic procedures...at Sugar Land Vein Specialists, all I treat is veins!” No one goes to the dentist when they need a new pair of glasses or to the orthopedic surgeon with a toothache. Why wouldn’t you go to Fort Bend’s premier vein clinic when you have a problem with your veins? Dr. Baltazar is the only board-certified vascular surgeon practicing full-time in Sugar Land. After earning his full medical degree at La Salle School of Medicine, he did his general surgery residency at the General Hospital of Mexico City and East Tennessee State University. He completed his vascular and endovascular surgery residency training at Baylor College of Medicine. He was one of the pioneers of endovascular surgery at East Tennessee State University. He says, “I have one professional passion...making sure your veins are working properly so you’ll feel your best!” Don’t put your veins in the hands of untrained physicians who may rely on incorrect, unnecessary, or poorly performed treatments. A vascular surgeon is the only doctor specially trained in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the veins. Dr. Baltazar says, “Varicose veins increase your chance of blood clots in the superficial venous system called thrombophlebitis and can be associated with potentially lethal clots in the deep venous system called deep venous thrombosis (DVT). Some patients may develop venous stasis ulcers or sores on the ankles. I have a range of the latest proven treatment methods to return you to normal, painless activity...safely!” “We’ve moved to the Methodist Medical Office Building 3 to offer our patients access to a wealth of resources and amenities, but we still have the same phone number, the same website, and the same single focus...we’re the vein specialists!” Ulises Baltazar MD,RVT,FACS Sugar Land Vein Specialists 16605 SW Freeway Ste 505 (in the Methodist Professional Building 3) Sugar Land, TX 77479 281-201-6052 www.slveins.com

ome pictures may be worth a thousand words, but a picture that says “Hope” is priceless. Recently at the Child Advocates of Fort Bend abused and neglected children received photography lessons from award-winning photojournalist, Linda Solomon, and cameras from Ms. Solomon and Don Kerstetter of Classic Chevrolet through the nationally acclaimed program, “Pictures of Hope.” Don says, “It’s incredibly important for these neglected and abused children to be given freedom of expression. I think we all have an invaluable opportunity to learn from them just exactly what they see and feel as they document their hopes and dreams.” Now you can see the world through the eyes of a child with holiday greeting cards made from photos by these children. Proceeds from the sale of the “Pictures of Hope” greeting cards will benefit the many families and children who receive services at Child Advocates. Don says, “Starting December first, these greeting cards will be available locally at Classic Chevrolet, as well as at the Child Advocates of Fort Bend. I encourage our community to come together to support these children.” Photojournalist and author Linda Solomon is recognized for her celebrity portraiture and has devoted her career to teaching children how to express their feelings through photography. Her program “Pictures of Hope” has been featured on Oprah, CBS Evening News twice, ABC World News, and in People Magazine, USA Today, and numerous local newspapers and magazines across the country. She says, “Through photography children share their heartfelt feelings and gain a sense of self-

Our goal is to help children realize that their hopes and dreams for a better life matter.” “When Chevrolet asked if I was interested in sponsoring Pictures of Hope,” says Don, “I immediately thought of CAFB, a non-profit agency dedicated to providing a voice for abused and neglected children. As a parent, the stories of these children’s ordeals move me greatly. I’m honored to work with Linda Solomon as she provides these children with the tools, training and inspiration to see the world through photography.” Ruthanne Mefford, Executive Director of Child Advocates of Ford Bend says, “As Child Advocates of Fort Bend celebrates twenty years of helping child victims in Fort Bend, we are reminded of the power of Hope. We expect that “Pictures of Hope” will be a life-changing experience for many of our children to help them find their voice, heal their hurt and bring the community together to break the cycle of abuse that is afflicting so many in our community. “Pictures of Hope” gives children the gift of realizing that they are important, that they matter...building their confidence in ways that will sustain them as they spread their wings to embrace their bright futures, perhaps even as photojournalists.” Classic Chevrolet Sugar Land 13115 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, TX 77478 Sales: (866) 498-5485 • Service: (866) 500-1660

Menopause or Man-o-pause? Becca Bragg
R
ed convertibles, new outfits, and a wandering eye aren’t the only signs of a mid-life crisis. Anxiety, depression, aggression, lack of motivation and a loss of interest in sex can all be linked to a drop in naturally occurring sex hormones...in both men and women! Lance Campbell, Pharm.D., R.Ph. says, “It’s a common misconception that only women suffer from a drop in hormones as they go through menopause. Actually, aging results in a drop in progesterone and estrogen in women, as well as testosterone in men. Keeping your hormones in balance is the key to enjoying life... whether you’re going through menopause or ‘manopause.’” The secret to saving your sanity could be balancing your hormones. Dr. Campbell says, “Women of all ages need progesterone to strengthen bones, protect breasts, calm nerves, promote restful sleep and decrease fluid retention. Progesterone production declines with age. In addition, perimenopausal and menopausal women may also suffer from estrogen deficiency. Fatigue, night sweats, weight gain, headaches, loss of libido, osteoporosis, insomnia, diminished mental clarity, endometriosis, lack of energy or drive, fibrocystic breast disease, hot flashes and vaginal dryness could all be signs that your body needs hormone balancing with a combination of bio-identical estrogen hormones and progesterone.” A sudden drop in hormones feels like your body’s slamming on the brakes, but for most men testosterone hormones decrease gradually over time. Dr. Campbell says, “My patients tell me this decline in testosterone can sneak up on you, until one day you realize you just don’t have the drive, self-confidence, assertiveness, or energy you used to have. Instead of blaming a mid-life crisis for symptoms like fatigue, depression, anger, anxiety, memory loss, relationship problems, loss of sex drive and erectile dysfunction, start asking questions about your hormones. With the right balance, you can feel like your old self again!” Don’t let menopause or “manopause” put your life on hold. When your hormones are in balance, you’ll live life to the fullest. Dr. Campbell says, “Make an appointment to talk with me any time about hormone balancing. Merry Christmas from all of us at Campbell’s Compounding!” Campbell’s Compounding Pharmacy ~ 281-980-2555 “If our staff can’t make it…then you probably don’t need it!” 4760 Sweetwater Blvd. Suite 103 www.campbellscompounding.com

Sarah Warburton hen you smile, you feel happier and more confident...and the world smiles back at you. “Your oral health is a good indicator of the health of your whole body,” says Dr. Thomas Lomonte, D.D.S. “That’s why, no matter what the economy looks like, no one can afford to neglect their dental health. It always makes good sense to take care of your smile sooner rather than later...for your health and your bottom line!” Does it seem like dental insurance is costing more and covering less? Dr. Lomonte says, “Honestly, the average annual limits set by some insurance companies are exactly the same amount as they were when I graduated dental school thirty years ago! Stretching your insurance dollars starts with understanding what kind of coverage you have and what dental work you really need. I don’t believe in making things confusing or convoluted, so we’ll lay out the best choices for you and be straightforward about the pricing. If you don’t have dental insurance to assist you in the cost, don’t put off treatment, we offer financing and payment plans. And if you have a ‘wish-list’ of work you’d like done, we can workup a timeline that will allow you to budget. I don’t want anyone to feel that finances are keeping them from having a strong, healthy smile!” With planning, a better smile can be easy and affordable. Lonnie and Sue Hutson, owners of the Sugar Land Kids R Kids, say, “We know how much our parents love our Watch Me Grow internet camera service...and now we have an app that will help connect kids, parents, grandparents and teachers even more.” John Lewison, owner of the Watch Me Grow Company, says, “We’re really excited to unveil our new app at the Sugar Land Kids R Kids location. We’ve worked with Lonnie and Sue for years. They’re forward-thinking, great managers who really understand technology and are always looking for new ways to make their Kids R Kids a better place. Our relationship with them helps us think creatively. Our existing internet viewing option will still be available for families at Kids R Kids on the computer, but our new app makes it more accessible to capture a child’s milestones, a class project, or any special event and share it with family members in completely encrypted, safe, and immediate way. Currently, the Watch Me Grow app is available for FREE...but only at the Kids R Kids location on Hwy 6 and West Airport!” “We really want to reinforce the positive things happening at Kids R Kids and bring family members closer,” John adds. “About a year ago, we learned that Lonnie and Sue would like to share a photo of each child once a month. We started thinking about how we could
make that easier...and the new features of the Watch Me Grow Connect App were born. We’ll be adding in the option for school administration to upload photos, audio, and videos to parents, who can then email them to other family members. In addition, if parents are ever running late for pick-up or have a quick question, they can click the “Call My Center” button on the app and they’ll be connected to the school right away.” “I am so excited about this new app,” says one mom, Nina Patel. “The internet viewing option is one of the main reasons why I chose to enroll my six-month-old daughter at Kids R Kids. Now that I can view her daily activities and milestones directly from my iphone, I feel like she is always with me.” From pioneering the Teach Smart Board to receiving AdvancED accreditation, Kids R Kids Sugar Land stays on the leading edge of education and technology. he might be a Texans or Rockets Cheerleader, she might be a busy executive, she might be the woman next door. Does she have a secret? Only Shalita knows for sure! She says, “Invisible Hair Extensions look exactly like your real hair...so your secret stays between us!” They say you have to see it to believe it, but it’s what you don’t see that really makes the difference. No one will know that you got your shiny, lustrous hair with Shalita’s help. She has over twenty years of experience in the hair care industry...and she knows this is the best hair around. In fact, she’s worked at the Paul Mitchell school and Tuscany Village. She also traveled and taught classes about the hair replacement system around the country. Your own hair can grow undamaged underneath. Anything you do to your natural hair you can do with this. Once we’ve chosen the right texture and shade, I can color it for you, style it, you can shampoo it, or even go swimming. I went with my husband to Cozumel and my hair looked great the whole time!” Why do some of the cheerleaders for the Texans and the Rockets come to Shalita? For the same reason one client even flies from Philadelphia to see her...beautiful hair and five-star service! Shalita says, “You’ll get my complete attention, real privacy, and the best product for the best results. We’ll be in a private suite at the Image Salon Studios. A Fort Bend Family Tradition

hat makes some traditions stand the test of time? Maybe your family draws names for a gift exchange, maybe you bake cookies from Grandma’s secret recipe, maybe you celebrate at a favorite restaurant...but every family has its own special things you come back to, year after year.
That’s the kind of place we have in All About Carpet and Floors, a family-owned business with a tradition of stellar customer service and real craftsmanship. Fort Bend families know they can come back, year after year, and get the same quality service from Bob and Renee McKelvey and their son, Shaun. One family, Mark and Roya Fillip, told us how All About Carpet made them happy repeat customers. For over fifteen years, All About Carpet’s been a part of our neighborhood. Roya says, “The store is close to us. We go to Shipley’s for donuts and our son used to do martial arts next door. A few years ago, they did tile and wood for us in our downstairs kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. We were really pleased with the work that they did, especially the careful installation, so we came back to them this year to finish up the house. This time they did wood in our formal dining room and living room and carpet upstairs and tile in the upstairs bathrooms.” Good service starts with good advice. Roya says, “Bob and Renee gave us some good advice. They have lots of knowledge and really knew what they were doing. They showed us samples and let us take them home to check them out in our house. When you have an open floor plan and you’re changing out the whole house over time, everything really has to match.” Even the best flooring is only as good as its installation...and that’s an area where All About

Floors really stands the test of time! Bob says, “An improperly installed floor can void your warranty, so you need someone with skill and experience. We’ve worked with our installers for a long time, so we know they’re experts. We want to help you choose floors you’ll love and make sure they’re so well-installed that you’ll come back to us for flooring, counters, or tile year after year!” Mark was absolutely blown away by the craftsmanship of their wood installation. Roya says, “Their crew is very good. We were very, very happy with the wood, carpet, and tile teams!” Come see why our beautiful selection and amazing customer service are McKelvey family traditions! Bob says, “We can help you break a job into smaller parts or knock the whole things out at once. We’re your one-stop-shop for flooring, kitchen, and bath needs. We’ve got samples, photos of beautiful work we’ve done, and offer the best products with the best installation at the best price. Have a happy and safe Holiday season!”

Jack Hudson’s Course in Life Skills Becca Bragg
T
his isn’t the kind of course that comes with textbooks and pop quizzes and students use drivers and nine irons instead of pencils and notebooks. As the coach for the Kempner Golf Team for the last six years, Jack Hudson’s designed his team’s training program, arranges locations for practice, coordinates with other Fort Bend coaches to schedule tournaments...and gives his kids a course in becoming skilled in a sport that will grow with them throughout life. A challenge faced by most High School golf programs is finding courses on which to play. Coach Hudson says, “Thanks to the generosity of Riverbend Country Club and Sugar Creek Country Club we can practice in absolutely fabulous settings and even host tournaments. We’re fortunate in Fort Bend to have access to these beautiful courses and skilled golf pros. Kids who really want to advance their skills need to spend some of their free and weekend time playing, too and we’re really grateful to these two amazing facilities.” Our area offers plenty of opportunities for healthy competition. Coach Hudson says, “I also organize and host tournaments and enter kids in tournaments that are appropriate for their skill level...then move them up as quickly as they progress. A player can start as a beginner in nine-hole tournaments,
then advance to eighteen-hole JV tournaments, then one-day Varsity tournaments, and finally the pinnacle is the two-day Varsity tournament. We usually play in Fort Bend, Katy, or Pearland, and our best players represent us at District Championships at Riverpoint Golf Club. The Regional Championship at Eagle Point Golf Club, or even the State Championship in Austin, are available to any who qualify.” What makes golf so popular? Everyone ––from busy professionals to retirees to high school students––can play! Coach Hudson says, “We have two players in the marching band, one who’s in orchestra, one who’s an Eagle Scout, and another in FFA. We can accommodate their busy schedules because our season is so long. We start practice in August with the start of school, have our first tournament about October 1st and the District Championships aren’t until mid-April. This is also a sport you can’t outgrow. Maybe a player won’t play for a college team, but golf is a sport you can take with you throughout life.”
Methodist Sugar Land Hospital earns national Chest Pain Center Accreditation
M
ethodist Sugar Land Hospital (MSLH) has received Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the national Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC), a designation reserved for hospitals that demonstrate the highest level of expertise in treating heart attack patients. The accreditation was the final step in a two-year process designed to demonstrate the hospital’s investments in staffing, training and equipment, as well as its collaborative relationships with physicians and emergency medical services (EMS) and public education efforts on the signs and symptoms of acute coronary syndromes. The rigorous evaluation by SCPC included a thorough review of hospital policies, standards and patient data and an on-site visit. The evaluation focused on the hospital’s adherence to strict criteria that: • Reduces the time from onset of symptoms to diagnosis and treatment • Treats patients more quickly during the critical window of time when the integrity of the heart muscle can be preserved • Monitors patients when it is not certain that they are having a heart attack to ensure that they are not sent home too quickly or needlessly
16 ~ upclose ~ December 2011
Methodist Sugar Land Hospital’s Chest Pain Center Accreditation Committee admitted to the hospital “Treating patients who present with chest pain quickly and effectively requires a true team effort, with coordination among EMS, our physicians, and staff from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, Chest Pain Center, Laboratory and Radiology,” said Scott Stover, Director of Emergency Services and Chest Pain Center Coordinator at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. “This accreditation is validation that our commitment to providing outstanding cardiac care is making a difference in the lives of our patients.” A key component of the hospital’s accreditation is the speed with which heart attack patients are treated with percutaneous coronary
www.upclosemagazine.com
intervention (PCI) in the Cath Lab. From arrival to the Emergency Department to the procedure, MSLH is averaging about 55 minutes – well below the national standard of 90 minutes. “That’s a testament to the stringent protocols we’ve put in place and the coordination between departments to ensure that our patients are being treated promptly and appropriately,” says Scott Rivenes, M.D., Chief of Emergency Medicine. “PCI is critical to opening up the blocked artery and re-establishing blood flow,” says Keith Ellis, M.D., Medical Director of the MSLH Chest Pain Center. “The quicker that we can identify patients who are having heart attacks, transport them to the Cath Lab, and begin the PCI, the better chance we have of saving lives – and improving the quality of life post-procedure by saving valuable heart tissue. I encourage people to call 911 immediately. By doing so, you will receive treatment sooner and thus limit the chances of damage to the heart—time is muscle.” For a physician referral, please call Methodist Sugar Land Hospital’s physician referral line 281-274-7500, or visit MethodistSugarLand.com
Do You Know the Real “Tooth?”
Sarah Warburton
W
hen you need to know the truth about each and every tooth, you need a little expert help...from a little expert. We asked the world’s most famous dental expert, the tooth fairy, about her special partners at Little People’s Dentistry. She says, “I’m only in charge of taking away little teeth that fall out. I trust Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Radford to keep the teeth that fall out and the new ones that grow in healthy!” The tooth fairy’s sparkles aren’t enough to straighten up those big-kid teeth. Dr. Sanchez says, “When you see that a child’s teeth are going to be crowded or cause developmental problems in the jaw, it’s important to make a plan. I’m a big believer in catching kids while they’re younger when it’s easier to create space, move teeth and get them growing in the right direction. The earlier we do the work, the less work we’ll have to do in the long run! Our orthodontic consultations are free with no pressure or obligation...we just want to give you an idea of what the future holds.” Each tooth fairy has to budget enough shiny quarters for twenty teeth from every child. Dr. Sanchez says, “Some tooth fairies are surprised to learn how many teeth children lose...and some parents are surprised to learn what their dental insurance does or doesn’t cover! Check with your insurance to see what kind of orthodontic coverage you have. It’s better to get it in writing, because the rules are always changing. We offer free orthodontic consultations and Saturday appointments, so we can give you an idea of what to expect and help you plan a budget.” When tooth fairies need help, they flit over to Little People’s Dentistry, where kids have a blast getting healthy teeth...and parents get great advice! Dr. Sanchez says, “This January we’ll offer special
discounts on braces: a $200 discount off the total treatment cost for patients with insurance and $500-$1000 off the total treatment cost for self-pay patients. Happy Holidays from all of us at Little People’s Dentistry!” Little People’s Dentistry “Because Kidz Are People, Too.” 281-261-0020 4706 Riverstone Blvd., Suite 200 (behind Kohl’s in Riverstone) www.LittlePeoplesDentistry.com

Thinking Ahead
Sarah Warburton rotecing your child starts with the healthy choices you make during pregnancy, the infant car seat you choose for your baby, and the bicycle helmet you buy for your preschooler. We asked Dr. Leslie Cohan of The Woman’s Place to talk with us about the human papillomavirus (HPV) ...and how and why to protect our kids. She says, “Things are always changing in our bodies and in the medical world. Sorting through and demystifying health information is a big part of my job as doctor.” “There’s been a lot of confusion in the press about the HPV virus. Essentially, HPV is a widespread virus that, in the United States, will infect an estimated 75% to 80% of males and females in their lifetime. Most people will never know they are infected, and their HPV clears on its own. In other cases, HPV could cause cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancers in females, penile, anal, and throat cancers in men, and genital warts in both genders. There are about six million new cases of genital HPV in the United States each year. You may be infected for many years without showing any signs or symptoms. You may contract HPV even if you use a condom during sex (although this will lower your risk)...and it only takes one instance of skin-to-skin contact to contract the disease.” “Because this disease is so wide-spread, it’s essential to protect children well before they become sexually active. The HPV vaccine is given in a series of three shots to boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 26. Getting both boys and girls vaccinated early will help protect our society against the spread of HPV...and will help protect your children when they become adults from cancers associated with HPV. Talking about the vaccine also gives you the opportunity to talk with your child about STDs, teen pregnancy, and making smart choices.” “Protecting our children starts with making informed health decisions. I’m always here to answer your questions and address your concerns. Have a happy and safe holiday season!”

andles gleaming, Christmas lights twinkling, and ornaments everywhere shining: it’s officially the holidays, the prettiest time of the year. With all that shimmering, you need a home to match—one that’s so clean, it positively gleams. After all, nothing kills a festive atmosphere like grubbiness. But when you’ve got presents to shop for, trees to decorate, and parties to plan, who’s got time? Professional Maid Service does! They’re exactly what their name says: our area’s most professional cleaners, and they won’t leave until your home shines like your finest holiday silver. “Holiday parties are tough, because you have to clean before and after,” says Max McCammond, who owns Professional Maid Service. Thankfully, his pros are just a phone call away, to help you before, after—or both! And with all your holiday valuables and heirlooms around, you need to be sure you have cleaners you can trust, which is why Max hires the best. “We only have the most conscientious maids, because we know how important your home is,” he says. And, of course, they’re all bonded, insured, and uniformed, for your complete peace of mind. Give the pros a call—they’re always available to suit your schedule. Let your holidays shine—and let your home shine along with them! Professional Maid Service 281-342-6500 www.professionalmaidservice.com
Cleaning to the “Max” No holiday gathering would be complete without the ambience of soft candlelight, but there’s always the problem of that pesky wax. If you need to get wax out of old candlesticks to put fresh candles in, put them in the freezer for a few hours; the wax will peel right off, after which you can carefully wash or polish them. What about wax drips all over your grandmother’s Irish linen tablecloth? First, harden it with an ice cube and scrape off what you can. After that, place it on the ironing board between two paper towels, and press—changing the towels as needed—until all the wax is gone.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year! A
Sarah Warburton re you ready to have yourself a holly, jolly Christmas? Master Plumber Alan Burkhalther says, “Don’t be fooled by flashy promises designed to get a company’s foot in your front door. We earn your business the old-fashioned way––by giving the best prices on the good work we do! Being a familyowned and operated business for the last fifteen years keeps our operating costs low...and we pass those savings on to you. When it comes to honest pricing on the actual job, we know we’re the best in town!” Remember last year when every third house on the street had a flood from their frozen sprinkler systems? People all over town called Alan’s Plumbing and Alan’s mother or his wife, Jennifer answered the phone. Jennifer says, “Just wrapping that exposed pipe from your sprinkler system to your house isn’t enough. You have to go to the vacuum breaker for your sprinkler system, turn one knob to shut the water to it off, and then turn the other to bleed down the water that’s still in there. If you don’t, that’s the place where water freezes and expands, causing a crack and a flood.
If you can’t turn the knob or the pipe’s corroded, give us a call. We were running all over town taking care of people last winter, but we’d love to help you before it’s an emergency!” Are you going out of town for the holidays? Along with the house key and the alarm code, make sure your neighbor or best friend has the number for Alan’s Plumbing––281-261-1064. You never know when crazy weather can cause an emergency plumbing problem, and you’ll need a team you can trust to get the job done at a reasonable price. Keep the holidays happy. Whether you’ve got a burst pipe, a clogged drain, need to replace a hot water heater, or a toilet reset, call Alan, Jennifer, their three sons––Beau, Luke, and Jake––brothers Chris and Brian and fellow plumber Zack. Jennifer says, “Our family is doing well and we hope yours is, too! Merry Christmas from all us at Alan’s Plumbing!” Alan’s Plumbing 281-261-1064

id last summer’s high temperature’s take a serious toll on your household budget? If your home still has its original air conditioner, you can expect higher bills, according to Chance Kamp and Bryan Bellamy, owners of All Out A/C and Heating. Bryan says, “A new energy-efficient Ruud air conditioner will use less than half the energy of a model that’s twelve years old. We hate to see people paying more in energy costs and getting less and less comfort in their homes.
“We have special zero percent interest, no money down, financing that spreads your payments out over thirty-six months. You could be paying that money to the utility company, or making those payments on a new system with a great warranty that will save you money month after month!” That’s why we’ve put together some winter deals that will get you a new system that literally pays for itself!” What makes a new, energy-efficient system so cool? Bryan says, “The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rates the efficiency of an air conditioning unit. A ten-year-old unit might start with at an 8 SEER...but over time this unit will wear down and operate somewhere around the 5-6 SEER level. “Transitioning to a new unit with 14-18 SEER means you’ll have an air conditioner than cools and dehumidifies...and the savings on your lower monthly electric bill could balance out the finances!” What if there was a way to stick with your current budget and still enjoy the benefits of a brand-new air conditioning unit? Bryan says, “We

Winter’s the right time to score low off-season discounts on a new, energy-efficient system that will literally pay for itself over time.Bryan says, “We put in a new system for a local woman, a single mom, who’d been paying well over eight hundred dollars to cool a two thousand square foot home. She saw immediate relief on her electric bill and the temperatures in her home, too!” All Out A/C and Heating 281-238-9292 626 Highway 90A Richmond, TX 77406 www.alloutacandheating.com
