The Blood of Life Donnielle Carter magine…living in Houston during our hot humid summers and you don’t wear shorts? It makes you feel hotter at the thought of it doesn’t it? That’s the world that local resident Delores Gonzales lived in before she went to see Dr. Baltazar at Sugar Land Vein Specialists. Delores had large varicose veins on her legs. While they did give her occasional bouts of pain, mainly she refused to wear shorts and dresses because of how unappealing her legs looked and she was embarrassed at the attention they drew. “It has been 15 years since I wore a dress or a bathing suit because my legs were so ugly.” With many many recommendations about Dr. Baltazar and his staff, she didn’t hesitate in making an appointment. “He was very charming doctor. I felt very safe and he easily answered my questions.” Dr. Baltazar is so much more than “the vein doctor”, he is also one of the most highly regarded and respected physicians in the area. He is a celebrated vascular surgeon who is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery with a special certification in Vascular Surgery. Almost 10 years ago, Dr. Baltazar chose to specialize in varicose veins so that he can offer true expertise and the best treatment available in Sugar Land. “The doctor and his staff treated me like a queen!” Delores proudly declares. Dr. Baltazar and his staff are dedicated to each patient and their goal is to make them feel comfortable and

Delores’ vein procedure went great and her recovery was quick. “After only 2 weeks I was back to doing everything I wanted, including jogging, exercise and wearing a dress. If I had to do it again I wouldn’t hesitate to go to Dr. Baltazar.” Varicose veins are caused by the improper function of the one-way valves in your veins which cause your blood to either reflux or stay in the legs and that reveals itself as the large unpleasant swollen bumps on the skin. And even more than the surface conditions varicose veins can actually result in serious medical conditions including blood clots, deep venous thrombosis or ulcers. Varicose vein treatments are covered by most insurance, so call Dr. Baltazar today for your consultation. Take it from an ecstatic Delores, “The procedure was so easy. I would recommend Dr. Baltazar to everyone. He gave me my life!”

Don’t let the pain or embarrassment of varicose veins stop you from having the life that you desire and a life that you enjoy. 4 ~ UPCLOSE ~ September 2011

Local Favorite Wins National Award

Sarah Warburton f you spend any time at all on the road, you’ll see plenty of signs for car dealerships...and from a distance they might all look the same. How can you tell the difference? You’ve got to look a little closer! Ask your neighbors, investigate their online reviews and BBB rating, and then walk through the front door and see what they have to offer. Don Kerstetter, owner of Classic Chevrolet Sugar Land says, “We’ve always invited the community to come out and challenge us to be everything we say we are. We have a different way of doing business...and we’re honored to announce that this year we’ve been awarded ‘GM Dealer of the Year,’ the highest award presented by GM. We vow to continue exceeding expectations with our transparency, efficiency, and commitment to customer satisfaction.” How many dealerships can honestly say they put the happiness of their customers above everything else? Only half of one percent of all the GM dealers in the entire US receive the GM Dealer of the Year Award. (Only ten out of this region of eight hundred won!) The rigorous criteria for earning this award include sales, customer satisfaction, and customer retention over time. Fort Bend really is “relaxing and enjoying the difference” at Classic Chevrolet...sales at Classic Chevrolet exceeded those of the entire region! At the presentation ceremony, Chevrolet Regional Director Dave Nottoli of Dallas said, “I just want to thank you for what you do for Chevrolet, every day. This award’s all about how well you take care of your customers.” Classic Chevrolet also won the Chevrolet Service Hero Award...for the second straight quarter, placing first among the fifty-three Chevy dealers in the Southwest Region in customer retention, on-time response for service, service training, and customer satisfaction. Don says, “Our team worked very hard over the past year and it’s wonderful to see their dedication to quality performance and customer satisfaction rewarded. Everyone here wants to demystify the car business to make the whole process from service to sales easy and enjoyable for our customers. Don’t be surprised to see us in jeans in the cooler months and shorts in the summer...we’re friendly and relaxed, as well as knowledgeable and professional!” As General Motors’ “Dealer of the Year,” Classic Chevrolet is dedicated to its customers...and our community. General Sales Manager Mark Kolon says, “Don and I are proud to support community causes like the Clements High School Pro Grad fundraising raffle, which raises money for an annual all-inclusive, drug and alcohol-free graduation event for the senior class.” This year’s drawing for a new 2012 Chevy Camaro will take place on Oct 28th. Jeremy says, “Throughout the Fall, our class kids incorporate their skills into full gymnastics routines. We invite friends and family out for the big day...and last year we had Channel 2, concessions, and over a hundred attendees. Are You Hip to the News? W Sarah Warburton hat is one of the most common reasons people call on orthopedic specialist, Dr. Mark Vann, MD? When a fall or a spill has resulted in a hip fracture. He says, “Over 300,000 Americans, ages sixty-five and older suffer hip fractures each year, and many suffered a seemingly insignificant fall.

Hip fractures are not only painful, but they can be life-changing. Many of my patients come in with fears of permanently losing their ability to walk, leading to a loss of independence. Fortunately, modern advances in hip surgery have given us plenty of options for getting people back on their feet again.” After an x-ray to confirm the diagnosis, hip fractures are usually treated with orthopedic surgery. Dr. Vann says, “I know patients are nervous about surgery, often concerned that they are ‘too old for surgery,’ but for a hip fracture, it’s usually the best way to go. The key benefits of surgery after a hip fracture are the reduction in pain, early ability to walk and a decreased risk of known problems that may develop if the patient is confined to bed for weeks as the hip heals on it’s own terms. Currently there are numerous surgical treatments ranging from the placement of screws to full hip replacement. The type of surgery we decide on depends on the type of fracture, the patient’s health, age and activity level”. Many patients are out of bed and into a chair the day after surgery as they begin physical therapy. Most begin walking shortly thereafter. Dr. Vann says, “The most important reason to get up and out of bed after hip surgery is to prevent

further complications. The next question is how to prevent future fractures. If you’re not already taking supplements, I may recommend calcium and Vitamin D. In consultation with your primary care physician, we may also consider a medication known as a bisphosphonate, to help preserve bone density.” “Hip fracture care is continually changing as we see new advances in surgical options. I’m always happy to answer your questions and discuss your treatment, so that you’re making informed decisions for yourself and your loved ones.” Mark Vann, MD Board Certified, Fellowship Trained, Orthopedic Surgeon Lower Extremity Specialist Sugar Land Medical Plaza 1327 Lake Point Parkway, Suite 520 Sugar Land, TX 77478 713-876-6518 • www.MarkVannMD.com

The Balancing Act H Sarah Warburton ave you been rushing around all summer from swim meets to family vacations, trying to juggle work and family...without sparing a single thought for yourself? Now that the kids are back in school, it’s time to reassess your body. If you’re suffering from symptoms like fatigue, low sex drive, insomnia, and weight gain, your hormones may be out of balance. Lance Campbell, Pharm.D., R.Ph. says, “I know many women have questions about Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement (BHRT)...that’s why I offer individual and group consultations by appointment to help you take control of your health and regain the balance in your life.” Striking the right balance in life and in your hormones can’t be done with a cookie-cutter approach. Dr. Campbell says, “Working in conjunction with your doctor, my staff and I are able to compound the lowest dosage that still delivers results. That means if you need 1.2 mg of a medication, you won’t have to settle for 1 mg that’s less than you need or 2 mg that’s more than you need. We tailor your dosage directly to your body’s needs to help you feel your best.” Are you ready to put your health back on your to-do list? Dr. Campbell says, “Moms are

so busy taking care of others, sometimes they forget to take a look at themselves and their own health. Memory problems, fatigue, weight gain, trouble sleeping, and other physical problems make it even harder to keep up with all the demands of your busy life. I’ve seen the difference balancing your hormones has made in the lives of my patients. You should never swallow a pill blindly...knowledge is the key to a healthy life. here’s one great place you should take your kids two times a year for three simple reasons...a better smile helps your child’s health, development, and self-confidence. At the Little People’s Dentistry, Dr. Bianca Sanchez says, “Twice a year dental checkups and cleanings keeps kids’ smiles bright and healthy...and gives me a heads-up if something isn’t right. Many of my patients have benefited from the services of Dr. Gary Radford, who has been doing orthodontics for years. Together, we’re giving your children the beautiful, healthy smiles they deserve!” Does your child have the best “backto-school” smile? Dr. Sanchez says, “Orthodontics for kids aren’t just about the way the smile looks, but the way the jaw and teeth function. Using orthodontics to correct the position and shape of the jaw can relieve pain and clicking in the jaw joints, headaches, snoring and poor sleep habits that lead to daytime fatigue and inattention in class, prevent speech problems, and improve a child’s self-esteem. Catching and correcting problems with orthodontics early can prevent the need for extraction or other serious corrective measures later. Experiencing Infertility: Jeremy and Sara’s Story

Jeremy and Sara Hodges hen we moved to the Houston area in September 2008, Sara and I started trying to have a family. After a year Sara went to her Ob/ Gyn for testing and found out she was having trouble with ovulation...but that was easily treatable. Her doctor referred me to a urologist for additional tests and that’s when the floodgates opened. Analysis revealed I had low testosterone and a low sperm count. I went through four months of trying antibiotic treatment and having more tests. When nothing changed, the urologist referred me to his mentor,a urologist who specialized in fertility issues. I felt so frusDr. Chauhan

trated, worried, and helpless. For the next year and half, he did more testing and found an additional problem. He put me on a full regimen of four to five different vitamins and scheduled surgery for July 2010. Three months after that surgery my sperm count had doubled...but the levels still were too low even for artificial insemination. That’s when he referred us to Dr. Subodh Chauhan at the Fertility Specialists of Houston. We started with a consultation in December 2010 to go over our options. We were thinking seriously about in vitro and Dr. Chauhan took his time answering all our questions. We asked if he could implant more than two embryos. He explained that it’s really not advisable unless there are extenuating circumstances...and then he gave us data and information about why it wouldn’t have been the best choice for us. All his awards in his office and the careful way he talked with us reassured us. We felt confident in his history of success. On Father’s Day Sunday Dr. Chauhan

came in personally to harvest our eggs. Two weeks later Sara’s blood test showed she was pregnant. It was a long journey, but every hurdle we cleared took us closer to the finish line. Thanks to Dr. Chauhan and the doctors that helped us find him, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sara and I are both teachers...and we’re thrilled to be expecting twins over Spring Break 2012. The Secret to Clearer Communication

D

Sarah Warburton oes your accent make it difficult and frustrating to communicate clearly and easily with your patients, colleagues, and new friends? The secret to successful communication starts with a call to Speech Language Pathologist Cynthia Ginyard at Corporate Speech Pathology & Communication (CSPAC). She says, “Your native language is a beautiful and an important part of who you are...but it can present challenges to speaking English clearly. Based on my expertise in phonology, I can design a program specifically for your needs. My sessions will empower you to modify your accent, so people will hear with pleasure what you have to say.” Each language comes with its own typical accent pattern in English. Cynthia says, “Normative data is available that shows the probable accent patterns a person who speaks a specific language will display when speaking English. Having that normative data means we can identify and target patterns that are typical in your native tongue for an effective, personalized program that really delivers results!”Normative data available for Amharic, Arabic, Bangante,

Bengali, Bulgarian, Burmese, Cantonese, Catalan, Creole French, Czech, Dutch, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hakkanese, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Ibo, Ilokano, Indonesian, Isoko, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malayalam, Malaysian, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Tagalog, Taiwanese, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Urdu, Vietnamese and Yoruba. Busy professionals love the flexibility and results-driven approach of CSPAC’s programs. Cynthia says, “I work with individuals or small groups who share a native language. I’ve had co-workers and even a husband and wife team. If you travel frequently or can’t get away from your desk at lunch, we can meet online through Skype, and I have evening and weekend appointments, too. A big concern for many clients is how long the program takes. You will need to practice on your own and apply what we’ve worked on together, but I offer a high-intensity three-day program of six hours a day with follow-up, an intensive three-week program, or weekly twelve-week program all either inoffice or at a location convenient for you.”

She’s Seen the Miracle Sarah Warburton e loved so much about our new home in Sugar Land,” says Alison Dunn, “but the bathrooms and kitchen really showed their age. Everything looked fantastic... and the price was much less than the cost of totally remodeling.” Miracle Method’s far less expensive than remodeling, but the results are just as dramatic! Alison says, “I had Miracle Method update the older white formica countertops in our kitchen by giving them rounded edges and the Natural Accents finish. Now they have a nice stone look in a lighter beige with dark tones. The tile surrounding the bathtub in our guest bath was beyond the point of a good cleaning. Miracle Method redid it all in white. Basically they brought it back to how it looked when it was new. They showed up on time and got right to work. Even though they were doing two projects at once, the whole thing took less than two days and was very convenient.” Nine out of ten people can’t tell the difference between a Miracle Method refinished bathtub and a new one...and Alison’s a believer, too. Some Things You Don’t Outgrow Y

ou don’t outgrow eating your vegetables, getting a good night’s sleep or needing your vaccinations. Dr. Leslie Cohan of The Woman’s Place says, “Many parents are vigilent about keeping their kids up-to-date on all their shots, but let their own vaccinations slide unless they’re planning to travel. It’s important for all women to keep their vaccinations and booster shots current–– just like when they were kids.” Starting an immunization history will help you track what shots you’ve had and when you had them. Most of us were too young to get the chickenpox vaccine as a child, but it’s available in a twodose series for adults now...and it’s not too late for your Measles, Mumps and Rubella shot either. You need a Tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis shot (Td/Tdap) every ten years...not just when you step on a rusty nail. Adults over the age of fifty should get the shingles vaccine and those sixty-five and older might also need the Pneumococcal vaccine. Dr. Cohan says, “I do recommend the Human papillomavirus (HPV) virus for those ages 9-26 to protect against the virus that contributes to cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancer as well as genital warts. Adults who travel or have lifestyle, occupational, or medical risks may also need the Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Meningococcal,

or other vaccines. And I strongly urge all my patients to get the flu vaccine during flu season (October to May) as some current strains are just as dangerous for adults as they are for children.” “Before you are pregnant, we’ll update your vaccinations to protect you and your baby. Some vaccines like measles, mumps, tuberculosis, and chickenpox are made from live viruses, so you should get them before––not during––pregnancy. The CDC does not recommend the pertussis part of the Tdap vaccine during pregnancy, but the Td shot just for tetanus is safe. If you’ll be pregnant during flu season, come in for a flu shot to avoid dangerous (and even fatal) complications from the flu during pregnancy. The shot (not the nasal spray) is made from killed viruses and is safe for mother and baby.” “Take the time to get your vaccinations...it’s a healthy choice you’ll never outgrow!” The Woman’s Place (affiliated with the Woman’s Hospital of Texas) 713-795-0349 16552 Southwest Freeway Sugar Land, TX 77479 http://drcohan.womanshealthgroup.com/

Take Back Your House! Cara Smith shh—listen very carefully. What do you hear? It’s—nothing, nothing at all! It’s the peace and quiet of having your house to yourself again after a long, hot summer with the kids home from school! You love them, of course, and summer’s a special time to bond with them. But with little ones around all day, every day, it’s only a matter of minutes before your house looks like tornado swept through. Now that they’re back in school, you can take a minute to catch your breath— and then start thinking about picking up the pieces. If your house is anything like mine, you’ve got streaky wood floors, sand between your sofa cushions, and the occasional crayon drawing on the kitchen walls—not to mention the generally dusty furniture, blinds, and fan blades. If it seems like it’s just too big a job to tackle all by yourself, it might be time to call in a professional—like Professional Maid Service. They’ll leave no cushion unturned, no floor unscrubbed, and no

Whether it’s here-and-there help you need, or regular service to keep the kid tornado to a dull roar (weekly, every other week, or monthly), Professional Maid Service can come on a schedule that best suits your needs and your budget. And, of course, all their maids are bonded and insured, and have undergone thorough background checks, so you’ll have total peace of mind. “Gone are the June Cleaver days when women were magically able to raise their kids and keep a showplace home with no help—if they ever existed at all,” laughs Professional Maid Service’s owner, Max McCammond. So give yourself a break after the summer—you’ve earned it. Enjoy that peace and quiet—and enjoy it in a professionally cleaned home! hen something’s fantastic, it stands the test of time. We found two couples who’ve used one place for their flooring for a combined total of fifteen years...and they keep coming back for more of the great selection, quality products, and unbeatable customer service. This is a tale of two bathrooms... and one amazing local company. For the last twenty-seven years Paula and Taylor Auburg have lived in First Colony and they consider All About Carpet one of the best local secrets. Paula says, “Twenty years ago we first came to All About Carpet. Plenty of things have changed in Fort Bend, but not our choice for carpet and tile. In fact, they’ve just finished work on our third house! After we remodeled

our master bathroom, replaced tile in the entire kitchen, removed carpet and put tile in another room and redid the entry...we asked the owner, Bob McKelvey, to finish out with our master bath.” “I told Bob I didn’t want the master bath to look like an afterthought. Bob had helped us find a gorgeous travertine in 18x18 tile that we used throughout the house. We continued it in the master bath, taking it 3/4 of the way up the wall. The way his guys brought the tile through real-

ly ties the whole house together and makes it look like the whole thing was designed at the same time. We also took out the jacuzzi tub and replaced it with an open shower, then we took out the old shower and put in a soaker tub.” “One of the many nice things about working with All About Carpet is how well Bob knows the other local businesses. We got all the fixtures, the lights, and the painting done by wonderful local companies that Bob recommended. It looks like a different room, but all we did was change out the shower and tub and add a little bit of paint. It turned out so pretty!” Daniel and Lin Thouin of New Territory have been trusting their home to All About Carpet for years. Daniel says, “When we moved out here, there weren’t many places for flooring except down highway six. The guys from All About Carpet did such a good job, we never went anywhere else. This time, we had them redo everything in the bathroom from the vanity to the shower. We had an idea of what we wanted. Once we went through the showroom, Lin and I had no trouble picking out the best choice. We did glass tile on one wall and one section of the shower, and grey 12x24 tiles in the rest of the shower.” “Over the years,” says Daniel, “I guess Bob and his crew had done just about everything in our house. They keep on schedule and don’t take two months to do the work. Plus, you know their warranty really means something...because they’ve been around for years and they’re not going anywhere!”

She says, “We had to replace two of our three air conditioners. All the choices were laid out side by side so I could compare prices, features, and warranties. We chose a high-efficiency unit that was eligible for a rebate and a tax credit. Helping out in Haiti, Dr. Sebastian Villarreal

When Caring is a Calling F

or some people, the desire to be of service to others is a true calling. And that’s exactly what it is for Sebastian Villarreal, M.D., an interventional pain management physician who’s made it his life’s work to help his patients back into a happy, productive lifestyle. His practice offers personalized care in an inviting and accessible location that makes it easy and enjoyable to get the treatment that will get you back to your life. “I think I always wanted to be a doctor,” he says, “but it wasn’t until my residency that I realized pain management was my true calling. I loved getting to know people, and helping them get out of pain—people who had started to believe they might never feel better again.” Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Dr. Villarreal moved to the Houston area with his family when he was nine years old, and he’s lived here ever since...and he speaks English and Spanish both fluently. As accomplished an athlete as he was a scholar, he put himself through University of Houston on a football scholarship before attending medical school in Galveston. After that, he completed a general surgery internship, an anesthesiology residency at Tulane, and a pain medicine fellowship at Louisiana State University. In other words, Dr. Villarreal really knows his stuff! It’s not just his credentials, though, that make him a great physician. It’s also his caring, integrated approach to treatment. “Pain affects not only patients, but their loved ones, as well,” Dr. Villarreal explains. “That’s why I try to involve them, too. I also work closely with referring physicians and providers to make sure we’re all taking a coordinated approach to patient care. That’s one of the ways my practice offers a concierge-type experi-

ence that’s tailored to you and your needs.” Dr. Villarreal provides outpatient injections for the complete range of neck, back, and joint disorders, which produce dramatic results. And since his office doesn’t have elevators or stairwells, paid parking or overbooked appointments, he makes it easy on your schedule and your back to get treatment. You really can walk right in and get prompt, friendly, and professional treatment. “It’s amazing to be able to make such a difference, and nothing beats seeing someone walk out of my office who, just a few months ago, couldn’t walk at all,” says Dr. Villarreal. And making a difference is what he’s all about. After the earthquake in Haiti, for example, Dr. Villarreal got on a plane as quickly as he could. “I provided anesthesia to patients, many of whom were children, and helped with post-op pain and recovery,” he recounts. “It was easily the best job I’ve ever had. Being able to do so much good work for so many people—it’s the greatest reward.” Now Dr. Villarreal is making his home in Sugar Land with his wife, a physical therapist born and raised in Sugar Land (she graduated from Clements High School), and their one-year-old daughter, he’s looking forward to being as actively involved in our own community. So if you’re in pain, call someone who cares—whose caring is a calling! How to Tame Your Business

Becca Bragg uccess leaves clues and Bert Martinez has spent his entire life obsessed with finding those clues and applying them, not only to his own life, but to the lives of thousands of others. Surviving and thriving in business takes more than a great product...it takes a recipe or system. Bert Martinez, Business Consultant has been described as having “a deep understanding of what drives business” (CBS). He applies his extensive knowledge of business and people to create systems to help you pull in the profits you’ve always wanted. Bert says, “As a business owner, your business can run you because your caught up in the day to day details...or you can run your business and have a life too. We’ll set up systems to run your company allowing owners to have more control, work less hours, and make more sales. The biggest myth in the business world, attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson, is that “if you make a better mouse trap

S

the world will beat a path to your door.”..that is just not true and millions of hard working business owners discover that reality as the they close their doors or file for bankruptcy. Companies like McDonald’s don’t make the best food, but they have system for everything - training employees, cleaning, and marketing. And because of their systems they sell the most food. In general franchisee owners enjoy a higher quality of life because their systems give predictable results which leads to peace of mind. One of our clients was on the verge of losing his business and his home after being in business for 10 years, in just 60 days we were able to turn things around, in 90 days his company hit an all-time sales record. After 6 months is wife was able to quit her job and stay home to raise their children. Bert says, “How do put a price on that kind of experience, it’s beyond fulfilling or words. We help businesses owners of all kinds and of every size. Even companies that are doing well eventually hit a plateau. The best part about our programs is that they are guaranteed to work! 832-303-2378 Bert Martinez Communications www.bertmartinez.com bert@bertmartinez.com

Cara Smith f you’ve ever had your wisdom teeth pulled, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Dr. Joseph Chen. That’s because, as one of the most respected and longest-practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeons in our area, his name is pretty much synonymous with excellence—and your referring dentist is sure to know it! In practice since the early 1980s, Dr. Chen opened his current practice in 1999. Since the beginning, he’s made it his mission to provide the finest care to all his patients. He’s also set the standard for excellence in his field: he taught oral surgery residents for many years at the UT Dental Branch in Houston and at Ben Taub Hospital, and is a prominent member of the most prestigious oral surgery associations. Now he’s proud to be continuing that tradition of excellence with his partner, Dr. Eddy Yang, and his newest associate, Dr. Thai Vuu. The traditions run deep: all three doctors completed their oral surgery residencies at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston following dental school (and in the case of Drs. Yang and Vuu, medical school as well—a paradigm that didn’t exist when Dr. Chen started out). All three are board-certified or boardeligible, and, most importantly, all three share the same strong commitment to patient care.

Born in Taiwan, Dr. Chen was raised in Forth Worth—and he’s got the accent to prove it! What’s more, his love of dentistry runs through his entire family. His wife is a pediatric dentist and professor at the UT Dental Branch, his son is soon to be an orthodontist, and his daughter is currently in dental school.

“It’s a great field, because we get to make such a profound difference so quickly,” says Dr. Chen. Dr. Yang continues, “Much of the time, our patients come to us in pain, and when they leave, they’re already doing better. That’s a great feeling.” Just as important, they take a conservative approach to what they do. Explains Dr. Vuu, “I really admire Drs. Chen and Yang, because they take such a measured, evidence-based approach to their work. I’m so glad to be a part of their practice.” And while the surgical extraction of wisdom teeth is the most commonly known function of the oral surgeon, you might be surprised to know how much more they do. “If it’s in your mouth, you bet we can do it,” laughs Dr. Chen. “We do the full scope of oral surgery, from simple outpatient procedures to complex inpatient cases, including emergency facial trauma. We also diagnose any type of oral disease, most of which we’re equipped to treat right here.” Drs. Chen, Yang, and Vuu routinely provide orthognathic surgery in conjunction with orthodontics, perform minor cosmetic facial procedures, and place posts for use with dental implants. If you’re looking for an oral surgeon, give them a call—you’ve found the right ones. They’re truly a tradition.

Dr. Yang grew up in the Midwest and came to Houston for his residency. He has an eight year-old son as well as five year-old twin girls, and his wife was a family practice physician before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Does he miss the Midwest? “No way—I met my wife here!”

Dr. Vuu and his family came to Sugar Land from Vietnam when he was very young, and he’s been here ever since—he even graduated from Dulles High School. His wife is an optometrist, and they have two young children. What does he like best about his profession? “Caring for patients from both a dental and a medical perspective.”

Protect Your Family’s Every Breath

Sarah Warburton he health of his family had been weighing on Todd Tapley’s mind for a while. He says, “We’d built a house five years ago and I’d put in three lower-cost air conditioners. Not only were they not cooling anymore, but we’d noticed mold growing around the air duct in an upstairs bedroom where the kids sleep. I know Chance from All Out A/C is reliable and trustworthy, so I gave him a call and he hooked me up with Bryan. He examined my whole system, made his recommendations, and helped me break the project into smaller pieces to work with my time and budget.” The owners of All Out A/C Chance Kamp and Bryan Bellamy know that staying cool and being healthy start with the air circulating through your home. Bryan says, “If you or your kids struggle with allergies, it’s crucial to get clean air in your home. Blowing

out the ducts just stirs things up, exposing stuff to the humidity so it can grow and settle in other places in your home. We replaced the contaminated ductwork in Todd’s home and used our EPA-approved, eight-hour air treatment process which eliminates mold and mildew in both the air and A/C system. It also eliminates pet odors, bacteria, dust mites, smoke, and cooking odors in your home or office.” “When they brought in those shiny silver torpedos,” says Todd, “I was skeptical, but we really did get cleaner air right away. The new air conditioner they installed also works efficiently without turning off and on so much to keep a constant temperature. We’ve had hit or miss experiences with

contractors in the past...but working with All Out A/C was problem-free. They’re by far the best company I’ve ever used and I’ll trust them to replace the rest of our old air conditioners this winter. Already the air quality and the peace of mind are fantastic!” All Out A/C and Heating 281-238-9292 626 Highway 90A Richmond, TX 77406 www.alloutacandheating.com
