Niken’s approach to architecture is based, above all, on rationality, her personal experience, and design exploration. During her study in Bandung, she learnt that practical and functional thinking is most important, without reducing the aesthetic of the building itself. She learnt to put great care into details and also to appreciate historic heritage. After graduating from her architecture manners, she gained her experience in Indonesia and Singapore as an Architectural Designer. For her, architecture is a never-ending journey that always educates from time to time. Thus, with a bundle of experiences and being an eager learner, she believes that architecture can bring human civilization and society forward with a good mutual relation with the environment.

This childcare centre operator has developed a mutual relationship with NTU (Nanyang Technic University), one of the most reputable university in Singapore, which allows them to build a new building for the childcare centre.

The building height is limited to only 2 storey high, to avoid blocking the existing residential apartments. In addition, the roof garden is used as children’s playground and to provide green scenery to the neighboring residents.

The proposed site is located near to the residential building, which lived

The Breeze is a private house located at 152E East Coast Road, Singapore. The idea of the house is to create an environmental friendly house, by using sustainable technology and proportional amount of natural air and lights. The aim of the project is to create a unique space yet still give value to its inhabitants.

The main challenge is to achieve privacy for the swimming pool. As the result, the swimming pool is located inside the house. The house is using natural ventilation for all the common area, that allows air to flow in and to reduce the energy consumption for the house.

The facade design is inspired by modern architecture, which expressed pure shape of forms, and by lightness of air. Thus, it is dominated with white colors and ventilation grills, with some natural wood and stone as a design accent. Long cantilevered roof eaves are used to protect the building from extreme sun glare and rain fall, since the location is in tropical area.
