Summary A 5th year Industrial Design student with creativity and a love for design. Design for me is to draw upon my observations and drive this curiosity to continually explore and understand. As an aspiring designer, I understand the social norms, expectations and limitations of manufacturing, marketing and other aspects of design implementation. I wilfully study and polish every element of my design – whether simple or complicated. For me, it’s not just about being detail-oriented, but to identify what kind of details matter, and evaluate myself and my work. I view myself through the eyes of others with a realistic understanding of my capabilities. My potential is expressed using various mediums from sketching to using 3D softwares for better comprehension of a project.

Work Personal Projects 1. illume (bike project) (4 weeks) Brief : “Make riding in the dark safer for the regular user” Challenge : Being a transportation brief, it was a challenge to develop it as I had not much exposure to a bicycle project. Working and Analysis of the Bicycle had to be considered more than the aesthetic features. Learning : Over the 4 weeks I further developed my 3D modelling skills briefly using Alias and Rhino. Visualization in terms of the working of the mechanism and technical details.

2. Ehsaas (watch for visually impaired) (1 week) Brief : “A watch designed for the visually impaired” Challenge : To understand the daily routine of a visually impaired person and implementing it into the design. Learning : To make this project work, I had to be familiar with the language of Braille. Also create a balance between the form and the function for a special user.

3. Aurita (lighting project) (4 weeks) Brief : “Floor lamp inspired from jellyfish” Challenge : Mimicking the sensual form of the Moon Jellyfish into a floor lamp. Learning : Visualize the working of the light dispersion in the lamp that worked on the principles of light refraction.

4. Watch for Porsche 918 (styling project) (1 week) Brief : “A watch designed for the luxury brand Porsche” Challenge : Incorporating the essence of the luxury brand Porsche into the watch. Learning : To combine products from different industries and comprehend them with 3D modelling and visualisation.

Masterclass (1 week) 1. Ethnography by Siamack Salari Brief : “Research and survey of the user study for the analysis stage” Challenge : To study the users behaviour only through observation. Learning : To conclude to a brief based on the user research and understanding the importance of ethnography during analysis.

2. Road Safety by James Hold and Richard Clough Brief : “Design a safety gear for a mopet” Challenge : To interact with professionals and to design a developed product in a week. Learning : Quick group brainstorming and implementing technology supporting the analysis.

3. 3D Printing by Paul Étienne Méligne and Adrien Ciejak Brief : “Designing a product/experience through the use of 3D Printing” Challenge : Creating a complete experience by using 3D Printing technology efficiently. Learning : Understanding 3D Printing as the future of manufacturing technology.

4. Studio Metis by Christian Guyard Brief : “Designing a phone application for design schools” Challenge : The challenge was to understand interaction design within a week and implement it graphically. Learning : I learnt to create the user interface design, keeping in mind the scenario.

5. Bentley by Richard Gilmartin Brief : “Designing the interior and the exterior for the 2030 show-car from the iconic Bentley Mulsanne” Challenge : As a product designer, it was a challenging to adapt to a transport design project. Learning : I learnt about the processes of the automotive design industry as opposed to the product design thinking “box”.

6. Kipsta by Christian Guyard Brief : “Designing a shoe with quick fastening” Challenge : Having lack of exposure to the shoe design industry, having to cope up within a week’s time was challenging. Learning : Intesive sketching, Prototyping skills and learning about various manufacturing processes involved in making a show from scratch.

Team Projects (3-4 months) 1. Haworth Brief : “Low cost office furniture for India” Challenge : To develop low cost office furniture that solves the current problems of the existing BPO’s furniture while making it aesthetically enhanced. Learning : Working in a team meant combining other opinions to come up with a final proposal. For my individual learning, I further developed the skills for 3D rendering and animation which helped me for my personal projects.

2. Samsung Brief : “Emotive appcessory for developing countries” Challenge : The challenge was to create a new appcessory for developing countries, to enhance their daily acitivites. Learning : Working in a team meant combining other opinions to come up with a final proposal. For my individual learning, I learnt about story - telling and generating scenarios.

3. RKS Brief : “Wheelbarrow ambulance service for inaccessible rural areas” Challenge : Being the team leader, it was a challenge for me to comprehend with the rest of the team. Also this being a service and a product design project which was based on real scenarios, it was challenging to come up with a solution which can solve the problem. Learning : Learnt to how to manage the team efficiently, along with technical details and functional aspects about the product, that needed to be overlooked. I also made sure that my younger team members learn the most out of the project.

3. Harman/Kardon Brief : “New typology of audio for connected home spaces” Ongoing Project.

Internship (6 months) WILDDESIGN About the company: WILDDESIGN is an internationally established design firm with a German origin. They have more than 25 years of experience in the development of innovative design solutions. WILDDESIGN is Europe’s leading design agency in the medical and healthcare industry. Experience: I did my internship at WILDDESIGN in Gelsenchirchen, Germany for 6 months. I had the opportunity to work on numerous projects such as product design, user interface design and graphic design. I also got a chance to work with people from different professional backgrounds as corresponding to my projects. I was privileged to visit the Medica Trade Fair, which is the biggest trade fair of it’s kind as one of the representatives of WILDDESIGN. Learning: During these 6 months, I gained my knowledge by interacting with various clients and working on real time medical design projects. I also improved my overall skills in terms of overall design process, sketching, 3D modelling and little bit of cooking.
