1. MODULAR TIMBER CABINS
Year: 2022
Project Type: Modular Residence, Professional Location: Mysore, Karnataka
Timber has been used as a construction material for centuries. The goal with this pro-ject was to use timber frame construction methods to create a modular building system for a series of cabins which could be used as summer homes, offices and hospitality units. The main goal through the process was to minimize time and labour spent on site by manufacturing all the completed components in the factory.

2. PURI REDEVELOPMENT
Year: 2019
Project Type: Urban Design, Professional
Location: Puri, Odisha
Puri, home to the Jagganath Temple, hosts the annual Rath Yatra (festival of chariots). The deities of the Jagannath Temple, Jagannath, Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, with the celestial wheelSudarshana Chakra are removed from the temple in a ceremonial procession to their chariots. The colourfully decorated chariots are drawn on the bada danda or Grand Road to the Gundicha Temple. This festival sees a footfall of millions of devotees every year.
I had the opportunity to be a part of the competition winning team from Bhumiputra Architecture which put forward a proposal for the redeveloment of the area.

View of Grand Road after intervention, Puri, Odisha
The Grand Road (approximately 3.5km, extending from Gundicha Temple on one end to Shree Mandir on the other) is the site of the annual Rath Yatra procession. As a result of unplanned expansion over the years, there are many issues that were identified.
18
No designated No
19
Disorganized vendors
Irregular facade designated two-wheeler parking
No proper pedestrian path
On identification of all the current issues, proposals for updated street design were giv-en depending on road widths, usage and mobility.

3. WOMEN AND CHILDREN HOSPITAL
Year: 2017
Project Type: Competition Entry , Academic
Location: Rajarhat, Kolkata
Site Area: 2 acres
The hospital accommodates 120 beds and specialises in the welfare of both mother and child. The concept behind the design is healing through nature. Studies have shown that an exposure to natural elements speeds up the recovery of patients. Keeping this in mind, open terraces have been provided for all the in-patient floors. Indoor play areas are also provided for children on these floors.
As most of ones time is spent waiting at hospitals, all the waiting rooms are positioned with a view towards the interior courtyard. Another key feature of the design is the separation of the in-patient and out-patient areas in order to create more private spaces.

4. PERFORMING ARTS COLLEGE
Year: 2017
Project Type: Campus Design, Academic
Location: Manipal Lake, Manipal
Site Area: 2 acres
The institute caters to students ranging from ages 7-19 .The site planning focuses on gathering and open performance spaces. Rammed earth and ferrocement are the main construction materials used. As all art is a reflection of nature, there are plenty of open spaces scattered throughout the site to inculcate a closeness towards it. A central court between the administrative block, academic block and the mess acts as the main congregational space of the site.

Apart from the main auditorium, open performance spaces are provided between the dance halls and as a central space between the academic, administrative and mess buildings. The steps provided are wide enough to be used as seating. These spaces carry the spirit of performance throughout the site.
A view of the Manipal Lake can be seen from the overhead walkway connecting the dance halls. This walkway also acts as a viewing gallery for the open performance space below.

5. DOORS AND WINDOWS
Year: 2020 - 2022
Over the course of my two and a half year experience at Bram Woodcrafting Studio, I designed and executed multiple door and window projects in solid wood. This included converting concepts and ideas from project architects and realising them as finished solid wood elements through a process of prototyping and experimentation. Wood be-ing a natural material, is alive and it is important to understand and respect its integrity while designing elements that will be subject to changing weather conditions.

Double pivoting louvered shutters made from yellow cedar
Project -1
The site was a guest house on a terrace space (7th floor) in Hyderabad. The architects provided the renders which included 18 double pivot doors, 2 flush doors and one fixed glass panel. As the length of the desired opening was 45 feet, the entire assembly had to be constructed in sections (as shown in the image above) for ease of transportation from Mysore to Hyderabad and installation on site.
