MUNICIPAL CONDENSER MULTI-PROGRAM URBAN BUILDING IN SF |01| Instructor: Roddy Creedon Individual Project, Integrated Studio M.Arch Fall 2019 Location: The Hub, San Francisco, CA USA Size: 24,070 sf Program: Gallery, Clinic, Classrooms, Basketball & Badminton Courts, Gym A municipal center located in central but desolate SF Hub desires legibility both inbetween programs and towards public. The floors are displaced by half level to foster creativity exchange. Each structured misalignment possesses synergy created by related three events through interfacing two other floors. Accordingly, the intersecting boxes utilize various facade transparency to articulate program nature to the public: Black metal screen system for supportive service & clinic; Glazing system for elegant gallery and classrooms; Channel glass facade system for active sports; White metal mesh screen system for sports changing rooms.

TECTONIC PRACTICE OF 'CONTINUOUS CITY' |02| Instructor: Raveevarn Choksombatchai Individual Project, Urbanism Studio M.Arch Fall 2017 Location: Dog Patch, San Francisco, CA USA Size: 182,860 sf Program: Residence, Office, Art areas When making site concept model, the tectonic of stitching and watercolor was used. The density of thread heads and continuous color remains on the bottom surface, while hints of color penaltrate through the threads to the upper surface. To translate the tectonic into design, I put continuous open art space underground, carving it to the depth of the Cal train and fill it with vibrant color. The programs from the west to the east are Art shops, Gallery, Art workshops and flea market according to the surrounding. Offices and residences are in the upper parts acting as threads. They connect the residential hill in the west of the site to the art area in the east all the way across the train track and freeway. Vertical circulations between the upper-ground threads and underground open space are various colorful light wells with stairs that soak upwards both people and color.

SITE - URBAN FRAGMENTS Railways and highways are vehicle shortcuts. But they cut where they pass into fragmented pieces without interaction, and turn the adjacent blocks from open streets into depressive and dark city backsides.

STRATEGY - CONTINUiTY, LUMINOUS, LIGHTWEIGHT

To resurgent the street for residents, I intend to recreate a remarkable luminous pedestrian street which flows under the highway with light and soft texture and convecience in construction, as both recreational commercial services and pedestrian shortcuts, in contrast to the heavy highway above.

TALKING BOEDERS IN RURALOPOLITAN SPACE |06| Instructor: Mary-Ann Ray, Tom Buresh. Second advisor: Kyle Steinfeld Individual Thesis Project M.Arch Spring 2020 Location: Village in City Hubei, Shenzhen, China Program: Urban & Border Architectural Deisgn for Floaters

45 Project 06/ 07

Urban villages in China are ancient villages surrounded by modern cities with autonomies kept. Separated from the city by high walls and lines of shops, they are unrevealed ruralopolis. People loose self efficacy. Villagers attempt to build highrises and tall buildings just like the city. Being an architect advocating for those constituents, double edges are introduced as a testing ground of new kind of urbanism. The talking borders open the edges to the inhabitants of other kind of urbanism, and allow them to come in and experience the real, original urban village. Rather than mixing programs and hoping people with diverse characteristics‘ll remain together, and acknowledging the motivation of the different groups are singular and different, everybody is able to go about their lives with their own atonomy. It's also not a spectacle where you get to see people living different lives as attraction. Knowing there is another side and things may pass through at their strongest moment, easy communication is a proactive choice for everybody. 46

Each program is focused on one group of floate foreign explorers, the immigrant workers, the fl order to preserve the authentic gene. By weaving their domain into each other's, and people are encouraged to enter the authentic about eachother better, instead of ignoring.

The towers are inspired from the silhouettes of the harbour cranes, complementing their triangulated geometry and enriching the sculptural skyline of Gothenburg. Similarly, the geometry of the Cable Car stations create a seamless network under one geometric and design family. The geometry is able to adapt to varying locations and needs without losing their identity.
