YEARI I. REPAIR The intent of the studio was to represent the idea of repairing a broken object. The various attributes such as Mem ory, Sound, Texture, Experience, process of breaking of this object in association with the user were explored in order to understand the translation of an experiential idea into space. Illustration below represents the idea of repairing the mem ory gap which exists between the object and the user. These m emories are contained in a void of impressions which gets left behind just as im pressions on the canvas of sand.

YEARI I.I THE NETWORKED Arne Harihareshwar The nature of the place wos very porous in terms of community. Conversations in the

across various age groups stitched a transparent fabric. The idea was to create o platform which celebrates and enhances this act of gathering by connecting the attic spaces of four houses to let the space be intimate. A stepped terrace, a viewing deck, o narrow ' connector bridge, sunken seating were visualized to ,....,._..,

YEAR II II. WHAT CAN ARCHITECTURE DO FOR: Crafting The esquisse project is imagined to be a narrow corridor where the flow of people created active spaces throughout. The space is moulded to accommodate trees as well as every act of a person walking along this corridor. The idea of this symbiotic process of crafting experiences and people crafting the building is explored ':

YEAR II 11.2 CELEBRATING MOMENTS Sikkim A transparent moment is created at the intersection of three factors-Time, Scale, Distance. Such moments were mapped along the path to Dubdi Monastery. The idea was to understand how landscape gets crafted by

these moments. These moments acted as pause points for varied purpose along the path. A major pause point was sited at the junction of two

paths. It stepped down along the contours leaving the person to freeze in a moment at the junction of built and unbuilt.

YEAR IV IV Housing MIDC EDGE, Nashik The edge of MIDC is grown haphazardly with time with no sense of order. The relationship of people with the streetscape was disjunctive. The idea was to break the monotonous nature of the site making the place active and develop a strong sense of community. Strategies were further developed based on routes followed by different actors involved in the site. Every Intersection was imagined to be a communal space at different scales.

Staggering

Intersection

Multiple routes of different nature were thought for connecting different parts. The pedestrian streets were staggered in order to break away the constant starkness. A series of interconnected courts intimate in nature layed parallel to these pedestrian streets. The roofscape is devised as an alternate system of sloping roofs developing a sense of rhythm inside as well as outside as a person moves along the streets. The sense of engagement is further exaggerated by staggering the balconies facing the street edge

The houses were designed considering incrementolity leaving negative spaces on the upper level and thus giving. A staircase is introduced between two houses for a transparent vertical movement. The porch faces the streets making them active throughout. The edge of the external street is lined up with housing for bachelors with commercial shops at the lower level. The intersection of streets in a cluster is designed to be a small scale event generator connected via a bridge at the upper level where small scale community functions such as newspaper reading,

YEAR IV

IV. I The Bridge Moti Masjid, lnnercity, Bhopal

The inner city near Moti masjid is intevened with the idea to retain its value and make tourists and locals aware of and experience its rich fabric. The project is visualised as a bridge connecting the lake to the interior parts. This bridge is designed to hold series of encounters with the existing elements drawing inspiration from the walled terraces it contains.

YEAR IV IV.2 MIIDC, Ambad Urban Design Studio,Nashik Project designed with Sonjono, Richa, Mahika, Ankit, Mukund

__...-.lVC..

MIDC Ambod, is one- half of the industrial region in Noshik (the other half being in Sotpur). It lies in the southern half of the city, near the quarries and the Pondovleno coves. The MIDC Am bod region consists mainly of industries and a small percentage of housing and posture lands. The social aspects of a space effects (in a greater percentage) the working conditions of the worker in the industry. The idea for the studio was to come up with architectural interventions which could improve the quality of the work environment of the worker.

Leaving for work.. Too many miles to traverse in the sun. Yet again, a Grey compound wall ofter another.. Dragging the feet through the starkness .. No sign of a pause.. Reaching the monotonous workspace.. And it repeats all over again An industrial worker's life oscillates between 'home' and 'work'. The transition between the 'home' and the 'work' is very stork. Con the nature of this 'transitional state' change the response to a workspoce2 Leaving for work.. Cycling along the shaded streets. Activities for the eyes to engage with. Markets along the compound wall The Dhobo at the corner.. Reaching the workspace And the journey goes on.

YEAR Ill V SAN\E SAN\E WORKSHOP "Other Histories"

The workshop was designed to trace other histories and reading patterns of the city's development and heritage through them. The aim of this project starts from making a particular historical narrative and a mop of Dinghoiqiao based on individual observation ond experience. The idea to develop a narrative for dinghoiqiao street was based on objects and spaces as

reflector of collective

memories. The unused spaces along the street had memories of certain collective events. A fragment of this memory in the form of some object was displayed in one of the unused place which acted as o regenerator of a small event space that connected people across the street ond mode them aware of the value the place has

YEAR V VI Gumming Village, Chino Team Callabaralars: Arunima, Hirai, Payal

The main aspect of the design is the creation of three distinct paths. The heritage path has been created in such a way that it encompasses and travels around the existing buildings on site. The nature path ensures experiences of walking along the existing and new gardens making its way through the ponds on site. The vehicular path cuts through the programs in a way that it provides a vista for the tourists coming onto site and is flanked by activities on either side.

towards

understanding the inner city by identifying relics fragmented in the city of Aurongobod.

1

It intends to retain the sense of place which determines the value by understanding place in totality, setting up a new lens by rejecting the only way a place is looked at. A new lens developed by studying the patterns would determine the value of the inner-city. The idea is to retain the skeleton of the inner city by enhancing relics in the city avoiding the state of loss.
