Headlining speaker ‘Keith Sproule’ is the Tourism Business Advisor for the World Wildlife Fund Namibia and has a breadth of knowledge working alongside communities to create a sustainable tourism based economy. How to Turn Your Ideas into Success This session will take you through the vital processes of how to form ideas, ensure they remain your own legitimate concept and establish funding which will allow you to seize the full benefit of your ideas! Join Lochaber’s’ own; Claire Gibb of Room 13, Bright Ideas Scotland and Corporate Lawyers; Alex Tutty of Sheridans and Johnathan Rees of Joelson Wilson in a practical guide of business creativity and funding. A Creative Community Changing social demands encourage educationalists, charities and businesses to adopt a fresh approach in order to nurture a functional, motivated and thriving community. Jim Sutherland of Lochaber High School will outline how school environments have transformed with the development of new technologies and social pressures which have led to many changing forms of education. Alastair McIntosh has been involved with community projects for much of his career will outline the fascinating GalGael initiatives and underpin the importance of community focussed projects and their benefits.

Dragons Glen The Dragons Glen is an entrepreneurial competition giving new businesses and diversifying organisations the chance to win the start- up package of a life time including £7,500 cash from the West Coast Communities Growth Trust, £1000 worth of web design from LamontDesign and Lochaber Chamber of Commerce Membership. All you have to do is convince our Dragons:- Finlay Finlayson; The Under Water Centre, Anja Baak; Great Glen Game, Alasdair Ferguson; Ferguson Transport and serial entrepreneur; Angus MacDonald. Lochaber Question Time “Lochaber Question Time” is based on the well-known topical BBC television programme. The concept has been adopted to provide the community with answers to many burning questions on current issues which impact our region. The Lochaber Ideas Week Panel includes: Stuart Black; Highland Council, Alex Paterson; Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scott Armstrong; VisitScotland, Jim Sutherland; Lochaber High School, Charles Kennedy; MP and Bruno Berardelli; Highland Wood Energy. Entrepreneurship Starting your own business is a big step, but there is help out there. Lochaber Ideas Week will bring you speakers and information which will help you to develop a successful business. Bridge to Business and the Enterprise Challenge encourage, nurture and mentor ideas helping you drive your business so that you can get the most out of your initiative. Join guest speakers Fergus Ewing MSP (tbc) who will discuss the significance of Enterprise in Scotland and Cathy O’Dowd the first women to climb Everest from Tibet, who will apply her experience as a Himalayan mountaineer to the corporate world! Learning & Development Alistair Smith is a consultant on learning and motivation. Drawing upon his experience of working across Education, Professional Sport and Technology Alistair will take you through a variety of case studies and offer practical guidance allowing you to get the best out of others “young or old!” Come along with an open mind, a sense of humour and full of optimism- this session will inspire you!
