“Employment4U” TRAINING COURSE Nicosia - Cyprus 13-20 April 2013 Dear friends and partners With great pleasure, I would like to welcome you to our youth training titled “Employment4U”, which is organised by the youth Dynamics group in Cyprus. The conference will take place in Nicosia between13-20 of April 2013.
Summary of the project: The Training Course is about using creative methods and art for promoting the access of unemployed young people to the new ways of self employment. The project wants to create and develop actions to promote new politics of propping up and integrating jobs, to encourage the youth entrepreneurship in a participated way, shared by the young people with local politicians, authorities, experts and businessmen. That wants to be an attempt to face the European and global crisis, which seems to be very close to the youngest. Nowadays in all over Europe one of the biggest hot issues is the unemployment and due to the economical crisis, more and more young people can not get a job, meanwhile they don’t have any possibility to improve their skills and gain more knowledge in order to have a better chance. During the seven days training course we will implement activities and exercises that strengthen some of these basic creative entrepreneurship competencies: team-building, facilitation, communication, intercultural competence and creative thinking skills. We will explore why creative thinking is considered a core entrepreneurship skill and enhance participants’ power as entrepreneurs by increasing their ability to think creatively. Several methods will be combined to explore the topics: intercultural learning exercises, simulation exercises, discussions, creative thinking techniques, self-assessment inventories, reflection groups and presentations. With our training course, we would like to emphasis on the choices of unemployed young people: closing themselves into their rooms and being depressive, not having contact with their environment and give it up after getting no letters for a job interview. Our conference program has been prepared in such a way to cover a wide range of aspects of building confidence, raising self-esteem and identify the

main characteristics and personal qualities needed nowadays to reduce youth unemployment Moreover, our trainer and invited speakers are international authorities in their fields. All around, an exciting program! In order to reach the project’s objectives we have planned several activities (training sessions, intercultural evening and intercultural programs) that will guide the participants through the process of getting specific competences. These will enable them to create their own self-development process but also to support other youngsters that are facing difficult economic and social exclusion situations to start a self and social development process, in order to overcome them. The activities will be implemented with the support of non-formal education methods and tools (games and exercises, group presentations, workshops, debates, role plays, forum theatre, open space, open café, outdoor activities, team building). Priorities addressed • Creativity and entrepreneurship • Youth unemployment Themes • Strategies for increasing youth employability • Recognition of non-formal education • Networking • Youth active participation • Entrepreneurship Exploring Cyprus may also be a good idea, while visiting the island for the training. Cyprus is well known for its hospitality, its great sights and the beautiful sceneries around the island. A main characteristic of the island is the short distances between places. One can travel from the unspoilt mountains to the golden beaches within the same day. Not to mention the ancient sights which date back several thousands of years. Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus and is located in the centre of the island. I hope that you will find the youth course worth participating and I look forward to meeting you in April!

Nicosia (Lefkosia) Nicosia lies roughly at the center of the island, with a rich history that can be traced back to the Bronze Age. It only became capital of the island in the 11th century AD. The Lusignans turned it into a magnificent city with a Royal Palace and over fifty churches. Today it blends its historic past brilliantly with the bustle of a modern city. The heart of the city, enclosed within the 16th century Venetian walls, is dotted with museums, ancient churches and mediaeval buildings, preserving the nostalgic atmosphere of the years past. However, this old heart is split in two, leaving Nicosia the only capital city to remain divided by force. The new Nicosia developed outside the walls, and became a contemporary and cosmopolitan business and cultural center. Just a few miles away are enchanting places of interest such as Byzantine churches and monasteries, archaeological sites and charming villages.
