Patna Riverfront Development is a Public Spaces Initiative funded by The World Bank and
National Mission of Clean Ganga along the historic River Ganga in Bihar. Its aim is to connect
fragmented pieces of unused land on the riverfront into a continuous public realm for 6km. The
project includes restoration of dilapidated ghats/ traditional steps to the river, removal of
garbage dumping zones, removal of direct sewerage outflow along with many public facilities.
The project was completed in Dec 2019 and was used by 2 million visitors in the local festival of
Chatt in October 2019.
