Final Thesis(24) . This thesis investigates the potential impact of experience design in a hospitality environment and its role in aiding longdistance travelers with jet lag. Jet lag happens when crossing multiple time zones interrupts human circadian rhythm. In this case, the traveler’s internal time is not the same as the new local time. The body confusion would result in physical and mental exhaustion.

Concept: Time-lapse Our internal clocks are disrupted by the crossing of time zones. The clock, the sky, the sun’s orientation and the shadows that are cast provide human experience. The manipulation of the environment can assist in adjusting our views of that experiences. These clues begin with rhythm, repetition, circular elements and direction.

Final Thesis(24) . The following sketches summarize the conclusion of the data collection analysis, and they reflect the possible solutions for jet lag and hotel design. These sketches assisted to visualize research data in three dimensional way. The sketches are suggesting solutions for the associated problems with jet lag. The illustrated interior sketches (on the right) are representing first ideas for the design if the hotel in the lobby, the vestibule, and the guestroom.

Final Thesis(24) . The lobby of “24” provides a welcoming feeling while it addresses jet lag in different ways. The center of the lobby is where the travelers can have Grounding while feeling sand underneath their feet. The juice bar on the other hand emphasizes the importance of non-alcoholic and decaffeinate drinks. “24” is where the guest can experience hospitality in new and different ways.

Final Thesis(24) . “24 provides different opportunities for travelers to learn and cope with their jet lag. On the ground floor the jet lag advising area is allocated to help travelers with their symptoms as well as providing educational components in this regard. There are two learning globes allocated for showing a short video about lighting treatment. Another component of the jet lag advising area is an interactive wood stud wall where different jet lag treatments are written on small wood panels that are removable from the wall. The guests can discover all possible treatments by reading all of them.

Final Thesis(24) . In the corridor of typical guestroom floor, the lighting design creates rhythm and wayfinding. There are two interactive spaces in the corridors where lighting is adjusted based on their needs. When their internal clocks need light, floor lamps emit blue light spectrum, and red light spectrum when they need to avoid light. The guest’s bed can be rotated toward the windows when the guest needs light; or in the opposite direction if they need to avoid it.

BRI COMPLEX Running a new business is stressful. Young companies are particularly vulnerable in their early/start-up years. This complex offers four business incubators for those who want to start their company or the start-up companies. Besides, one of the main issues of modern cities is commuting. One solutions for this problem is creating a mixed-use building. Therefore, this complex provides residential unites as well as business opportunities.

The Gaia Hotel is located in Arequipa which is located in Peru. The design of this hotel was inspired by the old Spanish architecture of the region as well as their handcrafts and culture. The architectural style of the hotel interior is old Spanish. The lobby and amenities areas had Spanish interior feeling with the combination of baroque white materials and patterns inspired by nature. The aim was to give guests a feeling of home while enjoying the high quality of hotel interior design.
GAIA HOTEL
Artesania bar, Gaia international hotel bar, is located at the ground floor beside the lobby. Artesania is a Spanish word which means art and crafts. It is a place to reflect the crafts and art of the Arequipa culture in an inviting interior. The local culture is presented by the potteries which are located inside the three dimensional glass shelves. These crafts are the best icon of the Arequipa culture. To finish the cultural look, I designed a wood paneling wall to make it a local pint. Instead of leaving them plane, I design it in a way that Arequipa woven patterns are cutout from the surface to give the wall texture and cultural value.

Inspired by Areqipa patterns in their artcrafts, Gaia guestrooms reflect the culture of the region. As the headboard, two strings of felt (the most common fabric in the Arequipa) in two different colors are weaved according to one of their most pattern. The same concept was done for the wall behind the desk.

YAZD HOUSE
Yazd House
YAZD HOUSE Yazd is located in the middle of Iran where it has hot and arid weather. Therefore, most of the Yazd houses have wind catchers and cavity gardens. Thus, these methods were used to temporize the hot weather in this project. Several shades were put in the main ways in order to protect the dweller from the sun. These houses are contained of four square. Two of them were rotated with the same degree of the south street. On the other hand, a %10 slip of site was an inspiration for the design of the siteplan with several stairs in order to make flat surfaces.

MISCELLANEOUS The fragile natures of the eggs make them hard to handle, and even when moving from one point to another in a kitchen, they must be carried carefully. The situation is worse when they need to be shipped long distances. The eggs must survive packaging, loading, shipping, and delivery processes from the manufacturer to the customer’s door. Design criteria • Safety: Eggs survive all the shipping processes. • Materiality: The materials must be cheap and available (like cardboards). • Stackable: The packages are stackable at the top of each other without slipping. • Sustainability: The packaging is plastic free and reusable. • Lightweight: It is easy for carrying.
