“Eventually everything connects - people, ideas, objects and spaces. The quality of the connections is the key to quality per se.” The urge of interactions and connections leads to a successful communal life, disregarding the fact of how divergent and unique a particular person be.

The workshop areas are proposed to follow the same workflow as that of the vankars traditionally in their native villages. The activities like drying of the yarns, drying the dyed cloth materials etc. take place at the gravel pit provided. It also helps to soak in the excess water dripping down from the wet yarns or cloths. The OAT acts as a central open area along with the food kiosk area for the visitors recreational activities.

03 Birch Retreat 2020 | Individual Project
Aim -
Task was to develop a design proposal for a hotel wherein the surrounding cultural, social and business activities help shape the functional aspect of it.
Site -
Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
User Group - Tourists and business travellers Softwares - Autocad, Revit, Photoshop and Illustrator Keywords - User friendly, Integration with greens, Business
The proposed hotel typology is a conventional hotel. Conventional hotel refers to a business hotel with a higher grade of communal life and additional focus on the aesthetics and facade treatment. The term ‘birch’ is due to the provision of the birch bed on the southern facade to block the unpleasant view of the slum. Provision of such birch beds are there on all the guest floors.

As I walk through the semi-covered pathway, I experiance a series of emotions of connection with the outside yet staying inside and it’s ending to the bookstore & coffee shop makes it idyllic. The stepping stones of water walk and the spa in front of it presents a perfect balance of relaxation and fun. The rooms having a birch bed view from the windows makes me feel connected with the greens. Wrapping it up with the rooftop restaurant gives a perfect view of meeting of the lake and the sky.
