Bosnia and Herzegovina Bosnia and Herzegovina is the heart shaped land that lies in the heart of southeast Europe. It is here that eastern and western civilizations met, sometimes clashed, but more often enriched and reinforced each other throughout its long and fascinating history. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a long name for a country that measures just over 50,000 km2. Bosnia covers the north and centre of the country with its name probably derived from 'bosana', an old Indo-European word meaning water, which Bosnia has no short of. The southern region of ancient Hum, ruled by Herceg Stjepan (Duke Stjepan),was later named Herzegovina after the region was conquered by the invading Ottomans. Perhaps what is most important for the visitor to know today, though, is that Bosnia and Herzegovinais a stunningly beautiful country with a vast array of landscapes, cultures, traditions and people. And as the old cliche goes 'people make the place' – and BiH prides itself on its hospitality and treating our guests as if they were family members. And family we take to heart.
AIESEC in B&H One of the things that we are the most proud of is the story of AIESEC in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in Sarajevo, during the war from 1992 to 1995. AIESEC managed to survive, to work under conditions that no man, especially LC could work.
AIESEC Bosnia and Herzegovina gained member status as independent country in 1993. Currently, AIESEC in B&H has two LC's Sarajevo and Mostar and two official extensions Zenica and Banja Luka. As a member of AIESEC B&H MC you will be living and working in the capital of B&H –Sarajevo, which is considered one of the best small cities to live in. As part of your work in MC you will be travelling to local committees, for which you will be financially supported.

Workload MC term in B&H lasts from 1st of July till 30th of June. In general, the MC term requires full commitment as a part-time job(30 h per week), and a lot of representative appearances such as international conferences, national conferences and MC related events which takes time from working on priorities. Averagely you can expect around 30 hours work per week, which can be higher around special events and lower in calmer periods. Number of vacation days (apart from holidays and weekends) is agreed within the team. As an MC member, it is good to know that due to the international events it is possible that you might spend some time abroad – you should consider how to solve these periods regarding your studies and other commitments.
Financial issues MC salary is arranged inside the team depending on the budget and agreement between MCmembers and MCP (with final word of MCP). The same goes for accommodation and other expenses.
For this year MC members who have citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina are working on voluntary basis, but for internationals MC B&H will provide: accomodation; one meal per day and pocket money. Since Bosnia and Herzegovina has low life standard, experience with current international in MC team has shown to us that things which are provided are more than enough for decent living. If budget allows it all fees and travel costs are covered for events connected with MC work. For MCP ILMs are covered since their attendance is part of membership criteria.
