A circular concrete base and a Steel structure organically shaped form the proposal for a bench at the Colonia Güell, a worker complex designed by Antoni Gaudí, inspired by the study of nature and the analysis of the crypt. The piece is imagined according to its placement inside the small forest that surrounds the crypt, a choice made to respect Gaudí’s architecture. Each piece will be unique, depending on the forging artist. The project is a critic to the current deforestation of the forest.

The project of a cemetery on the hill of Hostalrich castle proposes a reflection on the current vision of death and the role of cemeteries in Western culture. Nowadays cemeteries tend to be impersonal cold spaces made of concrete and stone, directly linked to the business of coffins. The designers Anna Citelli and Raul Bretzel propose a radical project Capsula Mundi that reconnects the cycle of life by creating an organic capsule that would welcome a body and from which a tree would grow, reducing the environmental impact of the tombstone industry and creating forests protected by their emotional value. The cemetery “path of the forest aims to be an intermediate proposal between the conventional cemetery and a future cemetery-forest. The project takes form as a path that starts inside the castle fortress and connects to the ancient hill path, expanding the existing forest into the cemetery, searching a balance between the brutalist concrete tombs and nature.

The social housing complex proposal is located in the old industrial district Poblenou, in Barcelona. The project begins by occupying empty plots and old industrial abandoned buildings, spreading like a parasite, and densifies when approaching the assigned parcel, at the end of la Rambla de Pobenou.
The different buildings are linked by footbridges connecting different community spaces, such as urban crops, laundries, meeting areas, and multiplying the street layers. The vegetation is working in parallel with the building system, growing throughout the district and creating a neuronal metabolism. It modulates the public spaces, creates different filters of privacy, and provides food supplies. The buildings are conceived as concrete slabs providing a solid structure where can be combined different housing modules, built with less heavy and more flexible materials, modifiable according to the needs.

The 40m2 apartment is organized around the service module, without added walls, allowing various space configurations. The “box is designed to expand, opening the wood shutters towards the hall, to occupy the community space on each floor.

Based on the conclusions reached in the previous housing complex, a second project located nearby tries to improve the idea of interpreting the metabolism as a way of inhabiting space. The project tries to be a transition between the segregated urban fabrics that surround the site: the grid of the Eixample, the old industrial district and the cemetery, creating different degrees of public space. Moreover, it builds an ecosystem continuity connecting the Poblenou park with the district, with the creation of a green axis.
A series of footbridges (1st membrane surrounding the square) organizes the circulation on each floor, the distribution of the housing modules (2nd membrane) and the connection between buildings.
The different apartments are created from the sum of structural modules of 7m by 7m, to accommodate different types of living situations: individual, familiar and co-habitation. The organization in vertical rows allows to create flexible and diaphanous spaces without the need for long corridors. A yard allows the continuity from the exterior into the interior of the apartments. Treated as an exterior facade, it facilitates ventilation and can become a dining room or a living room during hot summers, liberating the interior space for other activities.
Paris, 1968, alternative reality.
C ITY AN D UTO P IA - TH E R EVO LUTI O N A post may 68 uchronia. May 10, 1968, on the night of the barricades, a small group takes advantage of the agitation to remove general de Gaulle. He is exhibited in the public square, symbol of the fall of the former regime. Since that night, the small group grows in popularity and becomes the new ruling authority. They form a new Government and take advantage of the situation to implement an other type of authoritarian system, in which the “liberation” of individuals becomes mandatory. With this new power sets a new way of life. The daily should be constantly upset. Any routine is prohibited, and the city is transformed bit by bit into a huge playground where all the codes are simply ignored. Destruction, barricades, scaffolding and recovery are the main tools of this city onthe move. It is now anti-fonctionnelle. It must allow drift and experimental behaviour. In the latin quarter, 3 “situations” illustrate new architectures generated by this power: a ludo-participatory space, communication of the new power (square St. Michel); the tour of the continuous fun, entertainment and propaganda (Sorbonne); and the poetizing of life training center, mandatory creative service (School of fine arts). This project is an example of liberation by force, which, under the disguise of a participatory and emancipatory ideology can generate an authoritarian disorganization and a mass individualism.

BORDETA
The Bordeta road is formed by the different progressive urban growth around what was the old way between Barcelona and Madrid. Can BatllĂł is an old abandoned industrial complex located on this road, nowadays isolated from the district due to the impermeability of its boundaries. In recent years, neighbourhood associations have tried to change this situation.
The project consists in permeating the complex limits and creating quality spaces for community purposes, rehabilitating the old buildings into social housing, workshop spaces, an art exhibition hall, a covered market and a large green public area. The south zone remains intact for future extensions of the project, allowing the flexibility of uses of the complex.
