General Information & Sale Notes
LOCATION: This sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6.
ARRIVAL OF STOCK: Thursday 24th August 1pm - 7pm
Friday 25th August 7am - 7.30am
JUDGING: Friday 25th August 8am
SALE: Friday 25th August 10am
INSPECTION: There will be an Inspection for all rams and females which will take place prior to the sale. This will also include physical and type traits. Although the sheep are inspected, the Society recommends that all prospective purchasers carry out their own inspection of potential purchases, or ask advice from a recognised breeder. Any sheep not passing the Inspection should be removed from their pens on the morning of the sale, and will not be permitted to be sold through the auction ring. During the Inspection, tattoos/ tags will be checked. All sheep must be clearly tattooed/tagged and the tattoo/tag must correspond with the catalogue.
Council, through the Chairman/Vice-Chairman reserve the right to reject an animal that does not come up to the Breed Society standard as stated in the Flock Book. No consignor will have any claim for damages in respect of any animal which does not meet the Breed Society standard or the Inspection.
CONDITIONS OF SALE: Sold under the conditions of sale as displayed in the market, recommended by the Livestock Auctioneer’s Committee for England and Wales.
The Pedigree and descriptions of the lots are believed to be correct, but are not intended as warranty, and therefore shall be taken with all faults and errors of description.
UPSET PRICE: The minimum upset price is 300 guineas for Ram Lambs, Shearlings and Older Rams. Rams which do not reach this figure will not be sold. The upset price for individual Shearling Ewes will be 150 guineas and for individual Ewe Lambs 120 guineas. Individual females that do not reach this figure will not be sold.
METHOD OF SALE: All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers. A commission of 5.25% will be charged by the Auctioneers on all sales.
COMMISSIONS: The auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon receipt of written instructions.
INSURANCE: A representative of H&H Insurance Brokers will be present at the sale and will be pleased to quote purchasers for transit and other risks.
SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK: Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of sale. No animal may leave the sale premises without an offical ‘pass slip’ obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement.
