COMMERCIAL TOWER AT PARRAMATTA 1st Semester, UTS

The brief was to design a 40,000 sqm commercial tower in parramatta, at intersection of church street and george street. A high density urban insertion with ground plane blending with the urban fabric was envisaged, which remained neutral to the overshadowing to the centennial sqaure towards the south. The proposition challegened the development of speculative commercial tower, by providing a flexible lettable area. A meaningful urban insertion with public skydeck at 50m high targets to activate the urban space. Something to give back to the society.

SKYDECK The tower volumes developed from the workspace lettable area. To cater the speculative markets, three types of areas were proposed, fitting the requirement for small law firms, medium business house and large enterprises. The areas could be bridged or divided to serve the need of the prospective clients. The volume generated with this spatial organization was tested with performance and connectivity within the building to form up the composition of the building. The workspace of the future, with more collaborative spaces the efficiency of the working evironment is enhanced. Providing more informal and congregrational spaces, enhances the productivity and serves the newer working practices previaling in the workspace.

RESIDENCE, NEDLANDS, PERTH FREELANCE WORK The brief was to design a mordern residence for a client with family of four. The small site presented challenges of connecting the indoor to the outdoor. The visual connection in the house is seamless, starting from the entry to the backyard. The plan which was open interior connected seamless to the exterior as well therefore expanding the feel of the tight interior space. The modern design followed basic geometric forms shaping the house with various materials which defines the exterior. The wooden slats perform as shading devices protecting the interior from harsh west sun. The interior plan maximizes the interior performance with efficient manangement of the space.

THE LEAF - TIME SHARE RESORT, NAGARKOT, NEPAL PROFESSIONAL WORK, MATHEMA + PARTNERS

The Leaf, Nagarkot is a high end luxury residential cum hospitality development in Nepal managed by an international operator. The Leaf has 12 branded villas and club houses in Phase 1, Phase 2 of the project will include an arrival center, pool and dining, MICE and resort operated villas. The site, located in the hill top amidst the boundary of dense forest, due to difficult terrain has less buildable area therefore it demanded a smaller footprint building to be placed strategically at site which reduced the environmental impact while maximizing view, sun and cross ventilation. The stone pitched road meanders throughout the site catering every villa, and culminating at the highest point of the site which houses a whiskey lounge. The central spine of the site has a landscape feature which channels the storm water to the stormwater pond at the end of the site which is subsequently filtered and reused. The Lower area of the site also houses a sewage treatment plant, water from this treatment is re-used in flushing the water closet.

DEMO ROOM - THE LEAF, NAGARKOT, NEPAL PROFESSIONAL WORK, MATHEMA + PARTNERS

The demo room for leaf was built mainly to decide on the finishing of the interiors of the villas in the resort. A sample board was created of all the material used and based on this approval by Architect was given. This was crucial for the high end resort project to streamline the process also to ensure high quality finishing and design detailing. A sample living room was constructed in the premises of resort office at Thapathali. For this all the products, which were designed was detailed out and constructed or manufactured with strict supervision. This helped in the process of design development, as all iterations was upto this phase and the design was finalized based on this demo room.

ARRIVAL CENTER, GOA, INDIA PROFESSIONAL WORK, MATHEMA + PARTNERS An adaptive reuse of a run down hotel, will be the one of the first LEED-certified hospitality buildings in the area. It serves as an arrival center for a major development on an island nearby. The linear site lies in middle of the Mandovi River and the National Highway and is organized in three zones - the arrival zone, building zone and water zone.Staged as floating objects, two buildings have distinct expousres in terms of climatic orientation and reponse to the intricate operational requirements.

In response to Goa;s hto and humid climate, the transparent and operable north facades opens to the commanding river view and summer breeze. The east and west are screened by thick vegetation, solar screens and folding brie-solei. In contrast, the southern faces are predominantly solid to protect the interior spaces from harsh sunlight, torrential rain, and the noisy highway. GRC (glass-reinforced concrete) screens covering the entire south facade constitute a signature element of the project: they not only create a rich arrival experience but also provide the necessary thermal mass for an ambient interior climate.

RESPONSIBILITIES Design Development, vizualization and preparing documents for presentation. Construction drawings with detailing of Exterior and Interior

THE EYE, KATHMANDU, NEPAL PROFESSIONAL WORK, MATHEMA + PARTNERS The site lies almost in the center of the city, with the Presidential Palace just across the road and surrounded by army barrack and few patches of greens. The palace possesses the diminishing part of the valley, green lawns and garden for us to share visually. The office building mainly serves for the airlines offices with client’s corporate offices and executive offices. The program is segregated by levels, first three floors for airlines offices (Common Offices) and rest for corporate offices. The main concept for the design is to show the transparency of the office movements through large glazing from the entry. This encourages the interaction and movements of the people through spread out circulation and triple height atrium. The visual connections is always maintained. The presidential palace is not only taken as the landmark but its parks and greens to be utilized to stimulate the working environment positively, therefore the palace gardens are visible from almost all of the offices in the building.

The natural lights are the priority here with large openings all around reducing the energy cost. The lights are controlled through the skin of the building which has special screens to reduce the sun during summer and utilize it in winter thus being climate responsive. The vertical natural ventilations increases the flow of cool air from north and west reducing the air conditioning cost. The building is to stand out as an icon so that the people working there takes pride in where they are working. This is achieved by breaking the monotony of the architectural practice in the valley with something modern and exclusive. The screens and shades are modified to give the building design uniqueness and rich material and advance technology to add to the point. RESPONSIBILITIES: Program formulation, Pre-design Analysis, Design development, Preparation of all the documents for presentation and vizualization.
