The studio focused on creating a sense of the mass-to-void connection, as well as learning about steel as a material and how it may be used architecturally. The aim was to build a primary school that would link to a 1200 square metre clear gathering space. The studio also introduced the concepts of axis, arrival, and departure points to help people understand direction. A Valsad village was chosen as the location. To the north, a mango orchard was planted, and the entire programme focused on how to respond to the environment so that the design does not feel isolated. Steel was examined, as was the steel structural system.

GROUND FLOOR PLAN ______________________________________________
The major aim of this design was to have a co-learning surrounding for the children. The design creates a gradient of spaces, from formal learning to breakout spaces. 6

The louvered pseudo wall on the south end and the staggered floors create a shaded green courtyard connected with the classes. 7

FLOOR PLAN ______________________________ The design also tries to merge housing for different communities of Ahmedabad’s local people, while also trying to maintain privacy for all the groups and class. Clusters are placed in such a way that the housing creates a green courtyard in front of every cluster. A green walkway is designed facing the Malek Saban lake to create an interaction between the lake and the housing, which can act as a public recreational space. The program requirements entailed : UNIT TYPE 1 35 sq mts 245-250units UNIT TYPE 2 50 sq mts 125-130 units UNIT TYPE 2 75 sq mts 80-85 units Super Built up : 56250 sq mts Max. Height : G+12 Community facilities : Max 30% of circulation.
