Oxford Brookes University, 3rd Year Sem 2, Unit J A meditation centre right at the heart of Folkstone, United Kingdom. The site is culturally very rich and is situated right on the edge of the art district in the city centre. I decided to use diagramming as a method of design and the first diagram I started with was a grid based on the adjacent buildings. I then overlapped them one by one adding other parameters of design and performing actions like shift, multiply, subtract and the diagram kept on changing slowly. The whole process was very practical, rigorous and full of challenges related to decision making.

Renders and Models

Oxford Brookes University, 2nd Year Semester Two, Unit C Using bio-mimicry as a method, I designed a courtyard envelope using a sea-shell as an inspiration. This exercise was intended to make us learn different modes of design from sketches, models, CNC machine, laser cutting,, AutoCad, Rhino and use their strengths appropriately.

The Burning Man Festival This design consists of a long board that runs 60m long. It was made to be foldable into smaller pieces to make it easier to transport and install in the middle of a desert. It consists of a 100 pieces of dichroic glass connected to gears which rotate when they sense a movement in front of them (using photo sensors). The long board consists of quotes and responses about mental health that I gathered during my survey. People walk along the installation, watching these vibrant colours change while readng and thinking about mental health.

Housing Project, Vadodara (Individual Project) (Incomplete)

I did this project while I was learning about housing by-laws in India working under Sonal Developers in 2014.

Started off with a concept of Jigsaw Puzzle. To bring different class of people into living under a common society, just how all the jigsaw pieces come togther to complete a picture

This project worked as a learning exercise on how to design under the Indian by-laws and restrictions and also keep the concept strong all along.

Floor Plans

12

All the floor plans are different because the concept allows stacking of flats on top of one another and that creates open spaces between floors to accommodate common spaces and balconies and other amenities

Research Housing in Duren Before getting into the housing, I researched the Housing in Duren by Herman Hertzberger and analysed all the spaces and their relationship with the urban nomenclature of design. I made this grid and created diagrams that helped me understand the concept well and clear.

Pastiche.in I started off learning about digital art at my 2nd year at Oxford Brookes. I researched about Surrealism and use this technique to convey a short message through my collages

Abstraction (Butterfly)

I choose butterfly as my subject and used abstraction as a technique to design a pedestrian bridge using tension cables and I beams.

Archi-tectonic In a zero gravity space, the task was to design interesting spaces using a limited amount of pieces where a person can float around the space. Using the ‘plus’ in the middles as a guideline, we had to play around with all the views and explore the creativity to make changes and decisions.
