INTEGRATED TRANSIT HUB Aim of the proposal is to create a nodal integration between the transit hub and public space which will be a major lung space for the district.The transit hub also houses a number of shops providing an opportunity for the local vendors to upgrade and for new companies to establish their shops in this highly potential area.

A Transit Interchange has two building type users, the public and the private.The primary user,Public,is a more complex system where,detraining and entraining passengers are seeking the fastest and most direct route to their chosen destination.The building will accomodate for different types of transient populations,eachdetermined by the purpose of travel,whether it be leisure or work but it will also accomodate for the non transient population that wish to engage with the social aspect of the building,whom will benefit from the commercial aspect of the interchange.The building not only sets out to provide a transport interchange but also a social intechange.

The integration of intermodal transport with direct and fast connection between Rail and Bus transit Commercial element that provides a range of facilities for the transient population to benefit from Safe and weatherproof waiting spaces that are operational through out all the seasons of the year Ground Floor has ticketing facilities and waiting halls with some shops Mezzanine Floor has Bus and Rail transit related offices Park Level has trees, seating spaces, and pavillion Shopping Floors has restaurants, shops, Food courts and view decks Bus stand Level has 30 bus bays for intrastate bus service.This Floor also has waiting spaces and shops to cater the needs of passengers.This floor connects with Metro Station,Suburban Railway Station and Chennai Central Station.

Buckingham canal runs between the site and Pallavan salai bridge.It’s bank has been designed with walkways , seating and gardens to integrate with the transit hub.The space under Pallavan Salai bridge has been converted into recreational space. In order to bring the lost relationship of the river and the city, there is a need to address to this in a sustainable manner.

URBAN DESIGN - CENTRAL SQUARE The proposal aims to achieve a sustainable design solution of the Central Square, which provides access to safe and healthy public spaces for all its citizens. It also aims to create new business opportunities and increase the quality of urban life Based on the urban study the following observation have been imade 1.High traffic congestion in Pallavan salai bridge and the traffic signal infront of chennai central railway stations 2.A need for an open space which stimulates commercial growth and promote inner-city revitalization The proposals were aimed to resolve these issues in the area and provide a sustainable environment for the future.

CENTRAL PLAZA

The urban plaza aims to create a public space that caters not only to the commuters as a routine passage but also the surrounding residents and acts as a recreational space,which is not only commercial but also a open green space which is passive and well connected. Connecting all transit stations in subterranean level along with commercial provisions.Making the ground surface free of congestion that exists currently at the site level due to surface parking and illegible maintenance and also provides a unique sunken plaza that enhances the value of the land and buildings around it.

EXHIBITION AND CONVENTION CENTRE Type : Commercial Site Area : 1,43,070 sq.mts Location : Nandambakkam,Chennai Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation (TNTPO), which owns and operates the Chennai Trade Centre (CTC) at Nandambakkam, is in the process of doubling the facility’s capacity at an estimated cost of Rs 300 core. The move to expand the trade centre from about 20,000sqm to 40,000sqm will help the city attract international exhibitions. Chennai Trade Centre with its present capacity has been achieving an occupancy rate of 75%, which is the highest for any such centre in India. But given our size, we were not been able to attract large international exhibitions, which look for a minimum 30,000sqm of space. As a result, we were losing such events to Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Post expansion, with around 40,000sqm space at our command, the city will be able to host several large international exhibitions and conventions.After the expansion, it will have an additional exhibition space of 12,000sqm and a convention hall to seat another 4,000 people. A multi-level car parking to house 1,000 cars is also being built as part of the new project. Tidco has offered an additional 9.5 acres of land for the project. CONCEPTUAL SKETCHES

MEET ME AT THE BRIDGE The aim of the project was to create a space that enables citizens to enter a quiet space to calm themselves. The chosen site is amidst a busy IT park where we thought it would be appropriate to provide a viewing deck for them to spend some time after work. In addition to that , the deck Not only provides an unhindered view of the horizon of Chennai’s skyline but also serves a gathering space where people could socialize.

The geometry of the structure is inspired from the motion of a cube which is about to fall off from an edge. The cube is articulated in such a way that Luna wood pieces seem to be floating in mid air. This gives the visitors a sense of openness and enclosure at the same time.

MUD HOUSE According to ancient religious the people comes from dust. All around us is derived from the ground, and after a certain amount is converted back into the ground. And to keep our endowent as It is, we have to make some effort.Our homes are located on Me ground. Some of them have occurred gradually over time. Along with technological advances we forgot how strong and irreversible interaction are between all species of living organisms and inanimate nature. Firstly architecture is created by earth is always perfect harmony with the environment. without compromising it in any respect. other advantage of the clay compared to modern building materials is to improve the indoor climate of the premises.

Roof is one of the most essential structural element, it is the element that allows a delineated space to transform into one that feels protected .not only into element of closure and climate protection but into a character giving features that leads identity and flair

3 STAR HOTEL Type : Commercial Site Area : 4856 sq.mts Location : OMR

Three star hotels are the largest group of hotel types and they primarily cater to business travellers and usually located in downtown or business districts. Although Business hotels primarily serve business travellers, many tour groups, individual tourists and small conference groups find these hotels attractive. A hotel is an establishment that provides lodging paid on a short-term basis. The provision of basic accommodation, in times past, consisting only of a room with abed, a cupboard, a small table and a washstand has largely been replaced by rooms with modern facilities, including en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning or climate control. Additional common features found in hotel rooms are a telephone, an alarm clock, a television, a safe, a mini-bar with snack foods and drinks, and facilities for making tea and coffee. Luxury features include bathrobes and slippers, a pillow menu, twin-sink vanities, and Jacuzzi bathtubs. SITE PLAN

Analyzing the reason behind the form of that particular building…and how it merges with the surrounding environment. Form and Function go hand in hand. The form of the building should be able to convey the function of the building. The concept of hotel design is rooted in traditions of hospitality to travellers dating back to ancient times, and the development of many diverse types of hotels has occurred in many cultures. JAPANESE CULTURAL CENTRE Type : Commercial Site Area : 3750 sq.m Location : Adayar

What is a cultural centre ? A cultural center or cultural centre is an organization, building or complex that promotes culture and arts. Cultural centers can be neighborhood community arts organizations, private facilities, government-sponsored, or activist-run. JAPANESE ARCHITECTURE Japanese architecture (Nihon kenchiku) has traditionally been typified by wooden structures, elevated slightly off the ground, with tiled or thatched roofs. Much in the traditional architecture of Japan is not native, but was imported from China and other Asian cultures over the centuries. This cultural centre is an initiative that aims to nurture a deeper understanding and appreciation of japan throughout the international community. SITE PLAN

JAPANESE CARPENTRY Japanese carpentry is carpentry in Japan It uses distinctive woodworking joints. It is closely related to Japanese architecture.

WOOD By far the most prominent feature of traditional Japanese buildings is the dominance of wood. This was preferred over stone and other materials, In old Japanese houses, wood was given great respect and not concealed by paint or other coatings; it was used in its natural form so that the grain could be appreciated.
