NISA ADDINA HAQI

I am fond of challenging my self to explore my potential, which makes me very adventurous. Creative thinking motivates me to improvise and innovate. During my college year in Architecture, I have learnt how to communicate with the world throughout art and design. My strongest skill regarding the subject is research and development thinking which are essential in building suitable concept for clients and community. As an architecture student, I have grown my interest in urban context, social science especially human geography, psychology, and so forth that influences architecture, and art. Having involved in several types of positions in the community gives me confidence to work on a more challenging roles.

PROLOGUE I like my space unfolded to its surrounding, engage nicely with the nature, compact, and simple. Architecture, in my point of view, must reveal the characteristics and personalities of the client, and embrace the sense of belonging which leads into keeping and loving. Therefore, my design often apply modern architecture that stands on “form follows function, yet I am also very fond of mid-century modern style of architecture.

8 ART LEARNING CENTRE BUILDING; This project is for my architectureal discourse and spatial intelligence studio and method class in 2015 in Curtin University. The design engage the surrounding and community’s art activities to produce certain spatial experience that inspire artists and students for their artworks. The hub combines art studios and exhition to allow people to create and enjoy art.

SPATIAL CONFIGURATIONS AND IDEAS SKETCH MODELS

The initial idea is to divide the building and create a path in between them to allow visitors to explore the open space as well as the hub easily. DIAGRAMS

LAKE 01 LESCHENAULTIA ART HUB

9

The view of Lake Leschenaultia is relaxing and the built area is expected to embrace its natural beauty by collaborating with the nature. The Hub is designed to let the visitors experience the calming and inspirational natural beauty by providing many semi-opened to opened space. It is situated nearby the shoreline to receive enough amount fo sun rays during the day while stilll being shaded by huge trees of the forest.

10

VISTA The concept of having openings and frames around the building to picture the surrounding, connects the inside and outside of the space

ENTRANCE rthe spatial qualitiies before heading to the entrance is that the pedestrian will be embranced by the blue trees artwork, and then have their beautiful time and activities around his builiding

Site : Lake Leschenaultia, Chidlow, Perth The lake is surrounded by old tall trees and beautiful scenery. The area consists of comfortable well-shaded space and opened area nearby the shoreline. There is a carpark on the north side of the chosen spot which will benefit the building for its access.

LIGHTING (MORNING TO NIGHT TIME)

Different lighting experiences inside the building is caused by the placing of the wide openings on everyside of the building The arrangement of space and operational hours relate with the sun angle.

18 FUTURISTIC FISHERMEN SETTLEMENT ON THE SEA; The project was done for my Architecture Design Studio 5 in Universitas Indonesia which raised issue about the opportunity that Indonesia has in maritime field (resources). The aim was to understand basic requirements and futuristic technologies alongside with techniques that would support the country’s strategic plan. In addition to, the settlement was planned to prosper local fishermen by constructing a complete package of built environment as well as customized society that they could manage without having to be parted from their families.

Chosen spot

source : https://www.openstreetmap.org/

DESIGN PROPOSAL LOCATION OF SITE RESEARCH (TARGET OF IMPROVEMENT): Muara Angke Fishermen Village, North Jakarta ISSUES: - Sanitary and cleanliness; Clean water source is very limited - Poverty and dependent; Most of the factories and other big companies (located in the same area) and ships were owned by the outsiders and left the local communities a very little amount of fortune. Almost none of the conventional fishermen owns their own boat -- or either of the essential facilities -- and be able to make income more than almost enough everyday everyweek. - Not a “kid-friendly”-“family-friendly” environment; A high pressured community with less welcoming society, contains a lot of stress. Limited recreational areas and parks for kids’ leisure activities. AIM: - Improving the working practice and cycle from the fishermen to the consumer - Providing communal facilities as a tool to improve economical aspects of the community - Creating an independent locals

MALACCA STRAIT 02 FISHERMEN VILLAGE Chosen site : Malaka strait (Marked on the map) The strait is chosen for its relatively calm sea wave and its strategic values. The strait is famous for being one of the most important shipping lanes in the world which links major Asian economics which would benefit the settlement inhabitants’ business, especially for the fish market. By putting the structure nearby the Sumatra Island (Aceh Province), the unwanted risk of being isolated would be anticipated easier. The village is expected to provide a small harbour for passers-by to increase the recreational value of this artificial island itself.

The alternative energy source for the whole area is using the newest developed technology known as “High Altitude Wind Power Energy” which employs tethered wind energy capture devices that “fly” to these altitudes where wind power is much greater than it is at ground level. To operate, the system requires electricity towers placed systematically which could balance the floating wind turbines linked with viable high altitude FEG as an appropriate and strong tether cable with high voltage. The last component to let the system works is a special cable that distributes the energy to the electronic devices.

In connection with electrical grids that can serve many needs. Compared with tower-based turbines, much smaller rotors are necessary per megawatt captured in the high velocity high altitude winds. The energy captured starts from 70-90%, depends on the weather, height, and the size of the rotor

The trademark of the island skyline is the dome-like community centre and wave monument on the island, made to notify the location of the island to the passing ships, and create an iconic appearance in the middle of the sea.

24

The waterways in between the sub-islands bring liveliness closer to the inhabitant. Various natural elements are necessary to liven up the plain area and cooperate together to enhance the diaphanous scene. The waterways also allow additional alternative domestic transportation, which is small boats. The area of the river is very well protected by dam to reduce unwanted risks for attacking the safety of the insider. By having it well-protected, the water is expected to flow calmly, as it is quite a prominent element that may project peace and playful.

To commute, the inhabitants are expected to go by foot or using pollution-free transportation, as the area is pedestrian-friendly, and the size of constructed routes is limited.

BIRD-EYE PERSPECTIVE (FISH MARKET TO SPORTS CENTRE)

The vocal point of the area is a sub-district located on the separated land on the northen part of the village, consists of the island’s harbour, shops, swimming and boat parking areas, lodgement, and foodhall. The purpose of this district planning is to maintain the movement of people by putting recreational and business nodes altogether, so that the newcomers or other visitors would be able to enjoy the scenery without crashing into restricted areas such as the settlements. The wooden pedestrian pathways are constructed along the edge of the island to intensify the exploration, exhibit the stores, and celebrate local business ventures. This focus is intentionally paired with boat parking area to extend the original and strong values of being the flower of the strait and the centre of futuristic off-shore urban development.

SECOND MAIN AREA FLOORPLAN

26

BIRD-EYE PERSPECTIVE The design is divided into two major parts. The first part is open for public, where the swimming pool and green artificial parks are located, to support the well-being of not only children, but everyone who happened to be there, whether it is the visitors, or the locals. The public area allows locals to engage with the tourists and promote their business and creativity. The private area is where the school and settlements are situated, so they would still have that tranquility apart from the commercial areas.

HUMAN-EYE PERSPECTIVE (SWIMMING POOL)

27

By allowing visitors to see more of what’s inside, the value of the property would rise as well as the amount of tourist attraction, which could increases valuable sense of place while embracing the fishermen village’s unique characteristic. Not only designed for the rest area on the Malaka strait shipping lanes, this island is expected to be the centre of fresh fisheries market that distributes the best products to the main land of Indonesia and the business partners. The fisheries market is the vocal area of the whole village which contains big and clean area for the shops, factories, and seafood restaurants. To embrace the life of the fishermen, there will be fishing equipment shops and fishing areas for those who want to enjoy fishing.

HUMAN-EYE PERSPECTIVE (HARBOUR)

28 ARTIST’S TEMPORARY CREATIVE SPACE This is a developed concept based on my first spatial project for Architecture Design Studio 1 in Universitas Indonesia, which involved local artist as the client. The whole idea is to provide a convenient and inspiring personalized space to support artist’s creativity and his arty daily routine.

RUDOLF 03 CREATIVE SPACE

29

Rudolf Creative Space is named after the client, who is a professional theatrical artist, well-known as both the founder of Teater Keliling and a senior actor. The concept of this project is unfolding the inside of the space with the nature such as the sound of water, greeneries, and the wind, which as mentioned by Mr. Rudolf as his favourite elements that could boost his creativity and soul.

30 Chosen site : UI Lakeside The area is surrounded by trees and positioned on the small split of the lake, where the small pathway is crossing. The ground level from the water surface is roughly 6 m. The location is not inhabited, but is quite accessible. The view is beautiful and could receive enough amount of sun rays.

The spacial system used for this project is coordinated private working spaces, group rehearsal space, and private daily life areas. Everywhere in this area is carefully crafted for the client to enjoy working on his own, designed with various sense of place. The most opened and inspiring space would be the small room on the 3rd level, surrounded by only wind, clouds, and the extended view of the landscape.

SECTION AA’

EAST ELEVATION

33

SECTION BB’ The boundaries between the inside and outside are almost invisible, which cause it to blend with the surrounding. The ground level is the focal point of the creative space. It copes with the intention of producing personalized combination of coworking space and temporary dwelling. From the front part, the house already feel very welcoming by providing guest area for small meetings (and greetings). Parted by a couple meter, visitors could directly see the view through big windows placed side by side with creative table area. The next thing one would recognize is the beautiful small stage for theatrical practices, that could also turned into a friendly living room.

WEST ELEVATION

34 Inspiration could come anywhere, anytime. This inspires the bedroom to have compact design. There are drawers everywhere to help the client organize his sketch, ideas, and personal belongings. A simple working table could also be unfolded from the cabinet beside the bed to allow Mr. Rudolf to write his idea immediately. The red accent are added to his bedroom to embrace his eccentric character. The situation on the site is well-shaded which requires extra light sources for certain type of activities done, especially on the guest room. In small alleyway of the house, dimmer light are also installed to connect and attract people to move further inside.

PERSPECTIVE ON BEDROOM

IN BETWEEN THE HOUSE

35 The opened mini-stage is customized for active performers. A full body sized mirror is put right beside the stage, as well as special box for speakers, extra lighting, fresh air, and comfortable furnitures for multifunctional purposes. When members of Teater Keliling are visiting the place, they could also use the creative table to do brainstorming about the concept, script, costume design, and more. The space is relatively small, but the huge windows facing the lake really expand the area which makes it very comfortable.
