‘Informal

formal’ is designed while recognizing the importance of community participation along with the underlying issues (inadequate infrastructure) crippling the education system in rural parts of the country. This makes the building an integrated part of the community, a place where children would feel free and safe to build their future in. CONCEPT

Imitating the model of a village at its core, the design gives a freedom of space giving an opportunity of accidental meetings, discovery and exploration to the students with a sense of home and the familiarity. The courtyards and the corridors are a humble attempt to break away from the rigid education system constrained in the four walls of a classroom. keeping the playfulness and freedom of students alive, the building itself becomes a teacher.

Mud as a construction material is traditionally used and locally available at the site. the mud walls are naturally insulated and provide thermal comfort around the year, more than brick or concrete. With least variation in indoor temperature, it provides comfortable environment for classrooms with a low carbon footprint.

The grid framework (either timber or aluminum) provides a basic necessary infrastructure which can be modulated using materials like mud, brick, corrugated tin sheet or whatever is locally available. The freedom of materials and construction techniques reduces the cost of construction, while keeping the tradition of the community alive.

CONTEXT

Located on the coast of Vishakhapatnam, Jalaripeta is home to the largest fisherman settlement after Pudimadaka village more than 90 years old. Maximum export of fish to the entire city is from this village. The Jalaripeta locals also work as sweepers, drivers and vendors apart from fishing, since fishing is a seasonal occupation.

Due to the lack of Government involvement while planning the settlement, the locals lack secure housing and access to clean water. Since 2004, the settlement started developing further towards the shore, due to increase in population and fishing being the main occupation.

CONCEPT

The project is located in a forested zone to the north of Shillong. The forest is taken as an opportunity COEXIST: RETHINKING OF RESIDENCE WITH NATURE. This alternative experience of being able to do non-packed and openair activities is the great potential. The Core is broken into two parts with an open space in between to bring in nature with sloping roofs with Rainwater harvesting as a heavy rainfall region. As the temperature is growing and Shillong recorded a high temperature of 30 C as climatic response Jali wall in a form inspired by Khasi housing of bamboo and other sustainable materials are used in the design.

Form development

Another morning, I wake up as the sun slides over my face, Nature calls me to experience myself more in-depth And to cure me through all my senses.

I go by the window, my eyes rest and enjoy the beauty of it, My ears concentrate on the sweet sounds it makes.

I experience the feeling of the wind on my skin, In my nose, I feel the unbelievable scents of it That so vividly change with the weather and seasons.

I want to stay on this tree house for the rest of my life, Where the fair and rights are replaced by nature, And silence so absent in everyday life.

PEB long span column free fast and east constructions is used in Indoor swimming pool to avoid obstruction. PEB Construction and erection is faster and simple as compared to conventional Steel buildings. PEB Buildings required light equipment for construction, and conventional building required more labour and heavy equipment

The space frame is the horizontal slab of interlocking Hexagon pyramids main rebuild from the aluminum or steel struts used for walkways. The strength of a space frame structure is due to the inherent stiffness of the triangle and flexing loads that are transmitted along the length of each strut in the form of tension and compression loads.

Every construct occupies a space and a place which was earlier vacant and unoccupied,as such every project is an act of filling in. Yet, we do not term all buildings as infill. Equally true can be the belief in designing for context as creativity. To do thematically analyses the project, based on the specificity of the project.

Visions of Nowhere

To draw a dystopian society. What makes this society dystopian? Now transform this society into an Utopian paradise. What has changed?

Image 1

A war whose trenches are entrenched with deep distrust among individuals who shared a meal together. A war fueled by extreme polarization and hatred for those to whom we one spoke our heart out. a dystopia which lacks the slightest hint of Harmony and fraternity. A dystopian world where nothing is sacrosanct ever concept every entity every thought ever belief is defiled in his own way. But even the worst dystopia has a silver lining to it as someone has said “You can’t have peace without war”

Image 2

The graphics represent a post-war utopia which rose from the ashes of the dystopian world A world came forth with Harmony, thrust, fraternity, and mutual understanding. A world individuals cherish and prioritize cooperation over competition. A true utopia is not achievable but the individual who hold
