Sketching has developed as my hobby since childhood. I joined Architecture and I believe, it has given me a new dimension to think. I think architecture then on,... I sketch to get the expressions on paper and design to get the feelings of the living beings into the space I design, to make them feel the space to believe their own. Concepts as I see should be in close relation with the human behavior, the human experience and the connectivity of the same space, architecture should speak volumes of the space it adheres to...hence the context, the climate and so on... Things that we already have, things that has created our past; our heritage has always interested me...and which has now become an urge to explore. Thus, architecture is a journey of analogy of space and its users.

A THRESHOLD Designing an Anganwadi, Anand Professor Vibha Gajjar- 2010- semester long study
The brief of the project was to design an Anganwadi for an age groups 4-6 and 6-10.The design involves a detail study of concrete as a material and the circular form used. The organic shaped modules were sparsely planned to allow for open spaces and intermediate pause points between modules. These spaces and pause points embraced the natural setting and also served as outdoor classrooms for the children where their senses can be stimulated. Spaces were designed allowing experiences through play of light and dark, feel of soft and hard, wet and dry etc. The experience of being into the woods was created bringing the kids close to nature.

HOME FOR THE DEAD Designing a protestant’s crematorium Professor Anand Shah -2011- a week project
A crematorium is a place where corpses are cremated, a place where memories of the dead are preserved and relished; a place where dead bodies are buried and a tombstone is placed in the memory of a dead soul. According to protestant tradition dead bodies are considered to be path of meeting God (priest). The crematorium is designed keeping in mind the types of visitors it is accessed by (when? Why? and How?) and the emotions they carry with them to provide them with the soothing atmosphere. The aim was to make the dear ones of the dead experience that this was the safest place for their loved souls and that they are being cared. Crematorium here comprises of a church, a semi covered gathering place, residence for priest, caretakers lodge, shops and office, wall memorials and graveyard. The church is planned on the highest ground portraying its importance accessed by an alternative bridge while the graveyards are at the lowest level. The sensitive planning of green in the form of bushes, hedges, grasses and large trees helps to cultivate purity in the atmosphere.

HOUSING Architecture students housing, V.V Nagar, Anand Professor Advaita Jalan-2013- semester long study
This project was an opportunity to design housing for architectural students where I could be both client and a designer. The concept was to create a network; which can further formulated in design at various levels; Network of building units, of pedestrian and vehicular paths, of open and close spaces, of views and vistas, of public and private etc. Portion of terraces and double height common spaces were planned at different levels keeping in mind the working pattern and space required. An holistic approach was followed towards the design with the thought of negative and positive spaces. Open spaces in between the building clusters was a resultant of a conscious effort assigning them with a landmark feature such as a palm avenue, stone edge, green edge etc. These spaces act as a breathing spaces, interactive cornerswhere students can share knowledge and have healthy discussions and can also help to recharge their senses and get their imagination running.
“IMAGINATION CREATES REALITY” and imagination in my perspective is something framed from the views and vistas of spaces seen and felled around. Thus, ‘providing an environment building up imagination and Enhancing working abilities Enriching ideas through interactive nodes Entwined with variety of spaces forming a network. A network of threads forming a “pulse”

conceptual Initial ideas for the units and cluster planning. Factors such hierarchy of spaces, circulation, usage of spaces and climate where considered for developing overall massing of the housing. Simple and open type of planing was preferred allowing the users to adapt them according to their needs. Staggered cluster planning provided wider corridors which can be an extension of work space and also the hall can be opened to form the extended space. The inner room partitions were also open able forming a bigger space.

COMPETITION PROJECT Nasa G-Sen Trophy | Redesigning Padmawati Chawghan | 2011
Timeless by Design: Celebrating the Past while Protecting the Future The program postulated the site to be realistic in the traditional Indian context. Satisfying all the limitations framed in the program; a site of Padmawati Choghan located in the city of Baroda was chosen. The existing building had a strong context surrounded by old historically important buildings and Sur-Sagar lake. The existing building was in a bad condition as it was on stay for many years while construction. The G+2 structure has existing retail shops on its ground floor. Several issues of traffic, non-usable spaces, connectivity with surroundings, sur-sagar lake were considered while designing the program. Even the roadside hawkers were catered and a space devoted to them; a hawkers plaza was designed at the basement. It also adds to the openness and connectivity to the surrounding area. Above floors were utilized for different exhibitions and activities involving people to know their culture and past at present. The tall tree like building was designed with the concept of holy banyan tree from which the name “Vad- dodara originated.

M O M E N T S I N D U L G E N C E PA R K C O N C E P T Landscape design | Anand- Vidhyanagar road, besides Big Bazar Professor Divya - 2011- three week project
Landscape plays the key role at shaping the site in the mixed use zone located at, Anand, Gujarat. The program was to design a sensory park, thus keeping the physically impaired at the center. For the better study and exploration of contours the site was given hypothetical contours, thus an addition of unique feature. The layers form steps, sitting, wall and the central feature - a water stream. Apart from the access road, buffer and entrance areas there are two key zones connected by separate trails. One is the shallow water stream edged with bamboo pergolas with sand bed. All the trails unveil different experiences activating ones senses of touch, smell and feel. These trails leads to highest point called observation point. Curvilinear geometry was followed creating a smooth and flowing experience.
I ask for a moments indulgence to sit by my side . The works that I had in my hand I finish afterwards. Away fro site of thy face my heart knows no rest to respite , My work becomes an endless toil in shore less sea of toil. Today the summer has come at my window with its sighs and murmurs; And the bees are plying their minstrelsy at the court of flowering groove. Now it is time to sit quite, face to face with thee, And to sing dedication of life in this silent and overflowing leisure. -Rabindranath Tagore

RECLAIMING STREET FOR PEOPLE Urban Design Project | Udvada, Near Daman Professor Advaita Jalan - 2013- semester long project
1.
An Urban Design project was an opportunity to know the small Parsi town, Udwada near Daman. The Project was approached by solving the identified issues. The main street called the Mirza street which leads to the holy fire temple, had become the dead men’s street with lack of safety, activity and people. It had become a place for parking, thus ruining the whole character and importance of the place. Thus this was an attempt to reactivate the street by generating pause points at certain intervals. While designing and programming the whole project a conscious effort is made to preserve the character of the place and to safeguard its heritage value.

STUDY OF DOORS AND WINDOWS, a case of old city Ahmedabad B. Arch Dissertation | A Research dissertation Guide Professor Bijoy Bordoloi - 2014 - seven months projects
The forthcoming drawings reflects my angle in work for my undergraduate dissertation which focuses on the study of wooden doors and windows of old city of Ahmedabad. It is a research based study aimed to understand the doors and windows as an element of architecture. The inspiration of the study came from my interest in architectural conservation, architectural elements and details, the urban environment and the fact that very few studies based on architectural elements have been done so far. The research which will conclude with a document: a compilation of detailed documentation and comparative analysis of doors and windows of the study area that will act as a database or an informative resource for further studying doors and windows.

Abstract : The study of wooden doors and windows, case of old city Ahmedabad This research is a study on the architectural elements; wooden doors and windows which play an important role in molding the faรงade of heritage buildings. The study area is restricted to core city of Ahmedabad, as it represents a compact and climatically responsive urban settlement where the past and future are still able to coexist. Its building materials were properly selected to attenuate exterior conditions. The initial phase included, selection of the houses having some peculiar characters with reference of heritage listing done by AMC. The characteristics of doors and windows which were built to respond the climate, use of material, patterns and motifs dictating status and ownership of the houses and influences in the architectural styles are some of the measures by which doors and windows were explored in the dissertation. The aim is to understand wooden doors and windows as an element of architecture with reference to the walled city of Ahmedabad. For reference the methodology adopted for this dissertation: reviewing related books, interviews have been carried out with eight residents and with the people involved in the restoration projects under City Heritage Center (CHC) and articles from internet. This sort of study helped in categorizing and further analyzing traditional doors and windows through physical observation resulting into a time line of doors and windows offering an insight into traditional architecture of Ahmedabad. This in turn will help to preserve and maintain the authentic characteristics the buildings by documenting the case study houses. The study will conclude with the criteria for evaluation which will help for further identifying the houses in general through the characteristic study of its doors and windows.
