Change Empowers. Hello ChangeNOW Supporters Thank you Vaughn Marescia and the Pinetown Peugeot family for embracing us on our June Cover, we wish you continued success and upward growth. As we get into the full swing of cold weather and upcoming school holidays, lets us focus on the attitude of gratitude. We, as parents try our best to instill this in our children, and for some reason they do not get it. The consciousness of gratitude is a self realization phenomenon and definitely a sense of maturity. Recently I read a blog on what makes entrepreneurs successful and one of the points was gratitude. When we arise in the mornings, think of five things we are grateful for each and every day. This is life Changing! This is what empowers our life to be better people and to learn to see the rainbow in the clouds and not just the clouds. Read the editorial "Wake Up
and Feel Super Positive for The Day"
Dr Seuss was an award winning writer of children's books. He was, after all, one of the pioneers of clever storytelling that didn’t insult the intelligence of children. In this issue on pages 10 & 11 let’s look at some things Dr. Seuss used to say, and see what we can learn from each one of them. I encourage you to get your kids to read this editorial. As we continue on this incredible journey, we remain committed to sharing with our readers "feel- good-positive" content. ChangeNOW is humbled by its steady growth
and now its new reach to audiences from the Bluff, Queensburgh, Pinetown, Westville, Hillcrest, Berea, Musgrave, Durban North, Umhlanga and the Airport too. Thank you to all our partners in achieving this.

An excerpt from Phenomenal Woman in Celebration of Womens Month this August Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size But when I start to tell them, They think I’m telling lies. I say, It’s in the reach of my arms, The span of my hips, The stride of my step, The curl of my lips. I’m a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That’s me. I walk into a room Just as cool as you please, And to a man, The fellows stand or Fall down on their knees. Then they swarm around me, A hive of honey bees. I say, It’s the fire in my eyes, And the flash of my teeth, The swing in my waist, And the joy in my feet. I’m a woman Phenomenally. ... .

5 Ways to Build your Personal Brand & Make More Money No matter what type of job or career you’ve chosen, you can always improve your standing and move up the ladder. One of the best ways to increase your worth to the company and become an asset that they will want to keep is to build your personal brand and position yourself as an expert in your field. Here’s ways to build your personal brand and make more money. > 1. Start an industry blog.
The best way to build your personal brand is to start a blog. When some people think of blogs they think of musings and daily updates. For the best bloggers, that’s not the case. To create a truly engaging blog, you must find a focus that you understand and become an expert in the area so people want to hear what you have to say. By creating a blog within your industry, you already are the expert. And you don’t have to do it alone. Find areas where you don’t have a full working knowledge and find guest posts that can help your audience understand every aspect. You can also research these areas yourself and blog about the process. By offering insight into each aspect of your business, you build a blog that is a must stop for industry professionals and position yourself as a leader in the space. Plus, you get the added benefit of learning and expanding your knowledge outside of a classroom by digging in and researching those areas which you aren’t familiar.
> 2. Build your social media accounts.
While a blog may be the best way to build your brand, your social media accounts are often the quickest. Position yourself as an expert in your space on Facebook, LinkedIn, & Twitter. Follow, friend, and connect with industry experts and use social media as a way to keep up with all the news within your industry. Twitter is an amazing tool to help you curate the most influential players. LinkedIn insures that you can connect and network with those players. And Facebook offers you a chance to connect to co-workers, bosses, etc. on a more personal level and engage in meaningful discussion. Build your accounts wisely and ensure you share your
blog content consistently. You can quickly position yourself as an industry expert that’s worth the follow.
> 3. Network. Join groups outside of work.
All too often, companies and employees are stifled by what they know. The do the same things they’ve always done and expect the same results they’ve always had. And while this can work, if you want to become a true thought leader, you have to get outside the bubble of knowledge that exists in your company and tap into the wealth of knowledge available outside those four walls. Attend networking events, find meet-up groups, and do coffee with people who perform your job at other companies. Talk shop. Learn what they are doing, what is working, and what doesn’t work for them. Find people who work in completely different industries that have similar problems and see how they are solving them.
> 4. Take additional classes or courses.
Learning through experience can work for some, but others need a path. Taking additional courses at the local college or training courses from an association in your market can be incredibly helpful. Often your current employer will pay for these opportunities, making your decision a no-brainer! Learning more can help them, sure, but it helps you the most. By becoming a more well-rounded employee who takes initiative, you will have a better chance at moving up quickly. And when an employer invests in your education, they will be much more likely to ensure you stick around, which can lead to raises and promotions.
> 5. Attend conferences & trade shows.
And lastly, don’t forget about conferences and trade shows. These are often the one time a year that everyone important in your industry is in one place. And don’t just attend the sessions and the exhibits. Schedule meetings, dinners, coffee, and drinks after the sessions are over. Meet your vendors outside of the confines of the tradeshow floor and get down to what products really sell. Soak up as much as you can! I’ve gotten job offers at conferences and made lifelong connections that help me to this day. by Kyle Robbins

Ensuring Proper Legal and Tax Compliance for Business Set-Up So you have a dream of being an entrepreneur? The first and single most important decision an entrepreneur has to make is what type of legal entity to register his business under. There are various types of business formats suited to the small and medium enterprise sector, each with its own distinct characteristics. 1. Sole Proprietorship - Where there is only one owner, this is the simplest kind of independent business, as it does not need to be registered as a legal entity. This makes a sole proprietorship the ideal choice for a professional in private practice, a curio shop, etc. On the other hand, there is no distinction between the business and the owner, which means that the owner is fully responsible for all debts and liabilities incurred by the business. 2. A Partnership - To put is simply, a Partnership is an association of 2-20 people who are contractually bound to operate a joint, profit-generating business. Each partner contributes money, goods or services to a fund, agreeing that profits will be shared between the partners as per their contract. A Partnership is quite inexpensive to set up, as it does not have to be registered at the Registrar of Companies. 3. Private Company - Whilst many are of the view that the setting up and running of this type of business is complex, a Private Company can be a good choice for medium-sized enterprises with up to fifty shareholders. The greatest advantage being that the company is seen as its own legal entity so shareholders are not personally liable for its debt. Among other things, a Private Company: • Must reserve and register the company name with CIPRO; • Must have strict laws governing the duties and responsibilities of the company’s directors and officers; • Must have a Memorandum of Agreement defining the company’s nature and purpose; • Must hold an Annual General Meeting and issue annual audited financial statements; • Must have registered Articles of Association. 4. A Business Trust - A highly under-rated form of legal entity is the Business Trust. This is a legal entity where the trustee uses the trust assets to do business in order to benefit the beneficiary. Choosing to set up his business within the legal framework of a business trust affords the entrepreneur certain protections and advantages that other legal entities do not. For example: • The assets of the trust belong to the trust alone, which means that creditors cannot claim against the trustee’s personal assets • The costs associated with running a business trust are less, as it is not legally required to hire an auditor, disclose financial statements, pay annual fees to the Registrar, etc. • Taxes related to trusts are less complicated • It is relatively easy and inexpensive to dissolve a business trust
Make Your Brain Do What You Want
by Angela Booth
Do you feel as if you’re out of control? You need to take charge, and make your brain do what you want. Consider that your brain works like a computer. If your computer’s not doing what you want, you can change the programs. Change the programs your brain’s running with some simple tricks.
Clear your mind by decluttering your life.
Do you feel confused or easily distracted? Your surroundings affect the way you think and feel. Moreover, when you throw away, or give away the things you no longer need, it’s a symbolic act. You’ll be amazed that you feel lighter, and more focused. Try it. Open a desk drawer, and tidy it up, discarding as many items as you can.
Be healthy—eliminate food cravings by substituting natural foods for refined foods.
Researchers have discovered that when you give into food cravings, the chemicals released can change your brain. Our cave men ancestors craved nutrients like fat, sugar, and salt, and we do too. Unfortunately, today these substances are highly refined, so that we get more of them more easily than we could if we ate natural foods. When we give into our cravings, we get an endorphin high, and we can become addicted to the rush we get.Trick your brain by substituting natural foods for refined foods.
Do it NOW. Conquer procrastination by using rituals.
If procrastination is a challenge, build a “do it NOW” habit by developing rituals. Rituals conquer inertia, and your moods will no longer control you. Here’s an easy ritual to develop a healthy exercise habit. Schedule exercise at a specific time each day. When that time arrives, change into your exercise gear immediately, without thinking about it. My writing ritual each day is to make a cup of coffee, and take it into my office. I’ve done this for so long, that when I walk into my office with my coffee, I’m in the mood to write. Ensure that your ritual is a physical ac-
tivity. Thinking about what you need to do leads to procrastination; be active.
language, get started; you have plenty of time.
Trash negative thoughts with music and movement.
Use autosuggestion—“Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better.”
Here’s a simple trick to feel more positive: turn on some happy music. Get up and dance. Within a minute or two, you’ll feel much more positive. Try it the next time you’re swamped with negativity. Be aware of how negativity feels. Your body feels heavy. Turn on your music, and dance. Then consider how you feel: you feel lighter, don’t you?
Practice gratitude so that your brain floods with norepinephrine, and you feel good.
What are you grateful for? Make a list of three things. Everyone has three things they love, and for which they feel grateful. “Research suggests that when people practice gratitude, they experience a general alerting and brightening of the mind, and that’s probably correlated with more of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine.”
Think the best of people and make more friends.
I love this quote from the movie Harvey. The hero of the movie, Elwood P. Dowd, has a best friend who’s a pooka, an invisible six foot rabbit. Elwood has a philosophy of life that’s very simple: Years ago my mother used to say to me, she’d say, “In this world, Elwood, you must be” – she always called me Elwood – “In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant.” Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me. Be pleasant. Not only will you make more friends, but you’ll also be happier. The next time someone is nasty, consider their action from their point of view. Maybe they’re just having a bad day.
Expand time by increasing the input to your brain. Become actively involved in learning. Doing new activities, and learning new things tricks your brain into thinking that less time has passed. Time seems to expand. If you’ve always wanted to learn to cook, or to hang glide, or learn a
Autosuggestion tricks your brain. French psychologist Émile Coué created the positive-thinking mantra: “Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better”. Giving yourself positive suggestions tricks your brain into believing them. We’re all suggestible. If we weren’t, marketing wouldn’t be a billion dollar global industry. Look at autosuggestion as positive advertising you do for yourself. Autosuggestion can make a huge difference in your life. Unlike a commonly held belief that a strong conscious will constitutes the best path to success, Coué maintained that curing some of our troubles requires a change in our unconscious thought, which can be achieved only by using our imagination.
Exercise to change your brain.
Did you know that exercise produces changes in your brain? Who knew that exercise was such a powerful trick? A university study reports: In a study of 25 healthy adults, Dr Michelle McDonnell and her team found that the brain was able to more effectively rewire nerve connections – termed neuroplasticity – in the hand after 30 minutes of low intensity cycling. If you hate exercise, the study suggests that you don’t need to become a gym junkie to trick your brain into changing itself. Go for a daily walk instead.
Do creative work when you’re tired.
If you’re a creative worker, the idea that you can do your best creative work when you’re tired may be news to you. Most creatives, such as writers, musicians and designers, schedule their creative work when they’re wide awake, fresh and alert. Alter your schedule and try doing your work when you’re tired. You may just trick your brain into being more creative. So, there we have it: ten tricks to make your brain do what you want. Try a couple of them, or all of them.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) A parents’ worse nightmare – you receive a notice from your child’s teacher requesting an urgent meeting to discuss his behaviour. Yes … he is a bit naughty and sometimes all over the place, but you’re certain he’ll grow out of it! The teacher suggests that your child might have ADHD and requires treatment. How do u handle this? ADHD is a common neurobehavioural disorder affecting children, adolescents and adults. It is often associated with learning disabilities, behaviour disorders, emotional difficulties and other mental health issues. It is more common in boys and affects 5-8% of children. Though the exact cause has not been established, hereditary factors and an imbalance of neurotransmitters are found to be contributors. The 4 main features of ADHD are: hyperactivity, inattention, impulsivity and distractibility. Health professionals conducting the evaluation have to take a detailed history and look for indicators of ADHD; exclude secondary causes e.g epilepsy; involve parent + teachers in observing the child’s behaviour and apply specific rating scales eg. Conner’s rating scale Management utilises a multidisplinary team – occupational, speech and language therapist, educational psychologist, social worker, dietician AS WELL AS parents and teachers. Medication in the form of stimulants eg. Methylphenidate and non stimulants eg. antidepressants have proven to be very beneficial. ADHD is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed. Should your child, other family member of yourself display suggestive symptoms, please seek a comprehensive assessment.

Start Meditating
... and Stick to it. Meditation is becoming increasingly popular in the western world as we begin to wake up to the many benefits that is has to offer. I have meditated daily for years and I will share with you some of the biggest benefits to meditation as well as a short meditative exercise that you can perform by yourself at almost any time. Meditation lowers stress. There can be no doubt that meditation lowers stress. It reduces your heart rate and lowers production of cortisol which is the hormone responsible for the stressful feelings. Meditation quiets your conscious thoughts. If you have an over-active mind at night, or during the day, you know how frustrating it can be. One unimportant event can run through your head over and over, branching off into “what ifs” and “what ifs” of those “what ifs”. This can lead to mental fatigue. When you meditate, though you are focusing on just one thing. Your mind may slip at times, but you can bring it back to that singular focus. With regular meditation you will begin to develop a quiet mind and inner peace. Meditation helps you sleep. I used to have great difficulty sleeping until I began to meditate shortly before bedtime. Not only does meditation help you to fall asleep quicker but it also improves the quality of your sleep. If you sometimes wake up feeling more tired than when you went to bed that meditation is something you need to try. Meditation regulates your emotions. Meditation, focusing on mindfulness
in particular, is a great help at regulating emotions. If you’re someone who often feels over or under emotional then meditation will help keep you on an even keel. You will begin to express your emotions in a much more healthy way. Meditation improves focus. The entire point of meditation is to focus your mind on one thing. It stands to reason that this single-minded focus will carry over to your daily life. This can be a HUGE help in your work life or if you’re in education. Meditation has anti-ageing effects. Thanks to a combination of the previous benefits as well as “physically” affecting the brain, meditation can help you fight ageing and remain youthful beyond your years. So rather than inject yourself with toxins, why not spend 15 minutes a day meditation instead? Meditation protects your mental health. Evidence also shows the meditation can protect you against depression, addictions and other issues. While you should always seek professional advice in these matters, anything that makes the battle easier is undoubtedly a good thing. The effects of meditation last beyond the time spent meditating. As great as all these benefits of meditation are, they wouldn’t be all that useful if they just lasted the time you spent meditating. Thankfully though the effects last outside the meditative state as long as you meditate regularly. Just 10 to 15 minutes of meditating daily can bring you all these benefits and way more (including lower blood
pressure and an actual positive physical effect on the brain). An Easy Meditation Exercise Now you know what meditation can do for you I’m sure you’re eager to start meditating yourself. Well here’s a quick meditative exercise that anyone can do. Please read it all first before you begin so you don’t miss anything. Make sure you’re in a room where you won’t be disturbed. Get yourself in a comfortable position. This could be seated or laying down flat. Make sure your legs aren’t crossed so you don’t end up with pins and needles or cramp. Close your eyes and begin to breath deeply through your nose. Breath using your diaphragm so that your belly rises as you inhale, and lowers as you exhale. Allow all tension to leave your body. Focus on the air entering and leaving your body. Notice how the air feels cold inside your nostrils as you inhale, and warm as you exhale. Feel how it energizes you each and every time you inhale. If you’re having trouble with losing focus, trying mentally repeating commands to “breath in” and “breath out”. Continue focusing on your breathing in this manner for as long as you wish. Meditation works best when it is performed regularly so try to find a regular time when you can perform the above exercise daily. Eventually you will want to move on to different, more complicated meditations. Enjoy the journey.
Warmth for the Soul on a Wintry Day This is a true story. by Felicity Keats Last year I was invited to do right brain creative writing in the Westville Jail for Maximum Security Prisoners, incarcerated for long terms - between 10 years and life. They were there for crimes such as rape, murder, corruption, hijack and robbery. Accompanied by a radio journalist who had been entrusted with this project, I arrived with my CD player, a CD of Vivaldi music, unlined paper and pens. Once through the prison security and up on the 4th floor, I eyed the 30 men in orange overalls with correction stamped on them who were sitting at desks. There was a certain reserve in the way they looked back at me. In fact, one of them wrote his feelings in a short story he submitted. “An old white lady from the old regime in this worst of all places, the Westville prison. What is she doing here?” I was heckled to start with. Men with their hands up asked obscure questions and made strong objections. They were quietened when their leader said to them, “Either leave the room or let the lady begin.” Straight away I got them to close their eyes and shifted them from their left brains to their right brains. I gave them the instruction. “You are to write for ten minutes without stopping. Please don’t think. Just write what comes. Nothing you do is wrong and no criticism is made.” There was silence as their pens moved over the unlined paper. After ten minutes I asked if anyone would like to read out. There were several responses and what was read out was amazing. There was an excellent poem straight from the heart. Another read out a sad poem where the man wanted to commit suicide. I said, “there is no need to do that. I will show you how to get out of prison, legally.” And this is what I proceeded to do in weekly workshops for the next six months, showing them the beauty that is inside of each of them, a warm and happy place they can come to at
any time. One man wrote a touching poem, “Chained man, cry,” and in their poems and writing was a real regret for crimes committed and a willingness to live again in a way that linked with the community in positive growth. There was also the knowledge that they can break the chains of depression and sadness by learning to go to that peaceful place within that is always sunny, friendly and happy. In fact, in one poem a prisoner said he was locked in jail and that Felicity had brought him the key with which to get out.

After a few months, they had produced stories and poems that were published in 3 anthologies and launched at exclusive books, Pavilion, Westville. “Tears of the inmates” is the title of a thick volume of poems in English and isiZulu. “Voices from the Grave” are gritty short stories in English that have a real ring of truth. These men are proud and smiling. They are redeeming themselves and their self esteem. A number of them continued with the writing of full length novels. They were given tips on novel writing, and have undoubtedly a lot of first-hand knowledge of wrong doing… enough to write a novel! We have had ten novels from them so far. One apologizes to his children, entitling his book Absent Father and showing how he got into crime, and also out of crime as he is now a redeemed spiritual man. Today I still go to the Men’s maximum security Westville prison, but not so frequently as they have been trained to write under one of their own offenders who has the skill of unlocking their right brains. When I go there these days, there are these smiling friendly faces … it doesn’t seem like a prison, it seems as if we are in a social gathering where all are in high spirits. Such is the change in the men that has happened simply by exploring, with a pen in their hands, their own inner selves - their hearts and feelings. And finding love and gratitude within!

Important Life Lessons from In 1984, Dr. Seuss won an award for his contribution to children’s literature. In his years as a cartoonist and children’s writer, Theodor Seuss Geisel created some of the world’s most famous books and illustrations, including Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Cat, and The Lorax. As people, we can learn a lot from the legendary Dr. Seuss. He was, after all, one of the pioneers of clever storytelling that didn’t insult the intelligence of children. For example, consider How the Grinch Stole Christmas! - an early criticism of commercialization - from 1957. We can study Dr. Seuss’s successful children’s books to become more productive, feel more motivated, and live a rich life. But the “Father of Children’s Books” also has plenty to teach us about the importance of reading, believing in yourself, and doing the work. Let’s look at some things Dr. Seuss used to say, and see what we can learn from each one of them.
On being yourself
Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You. Don’t try to be someone else. No one can smile, laugh or talk like you. You have a unique voice. Use it. As Dr. Seuss points out: Why fit in when you were born to stand out? It’s scary to stand out, but that’s why you must do it. If you’re looking for inspiration, turn to this much-loved quote: Say what you feel, and do what you say. Because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.
On choosing your own direction in life
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go… Life is full of choices. Do you choose where to go or do you let someone else decide for you? You’re off to great places! Today is your today. Your mountain is waiting, so you get on your way! Take that first step. Whatever you do, don’t stand still. Dr. Seuss warns us about a universal law called inertia. This means that things keep doing what they’re doing. So, if you’re standing still, you’re likely to stay still. But if you’re moving forward, you’re more likely to keep moving forward. So, what are you waiting for? Get on your way!
On making the world a better place
UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not. If you want a better world, you have to care. You must take responsibility and speak up. Issues like global warming, poverty, racism, domestic violence, sexual discrimination, among many others, are not going to get any better unless YOU take action. A person’s a person, no matter how small. Everyone matters and deserves to be seen. We must never forget to respect each other’s differences.
On love, friendship and joy
We’re all a little weird and life’s a little weird. And when we find someone who’s weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness call it love. You know you’re lucky when you’ve met someone who embraces your weirdness and loves you anyway. The same holds true for your friends. Where can you find your fellow weirdos? Hang out with them, and treasure each other’s imperfections. They can be hard to find, but they’re well
worth the wait.
On reading and learning
The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go. Reading books offers you more ways to look at life. It adds depth and colour to the most unlikely places. Knowledge is a very powerful weapon indeed, so make the most of it. Read more books! You never know where it will take you. It’s better to know how to learn than to know. This is a hidden gem from Dr. Seuss. How do you prefer to learn? Don’t underestimate this question; your learning preferences can seriously improve the quality of your life . For example, consider if you’re: • A visual learner (you prefer mind maps, texts, and images) • An audio learner (you prefer listening to podcasts and lectures) • A kinesthetic learner (you prefer to do things) Think about which learning style you prefer. Follow Dr. Seuss’s advice and figure out how you learn best because that’s more valuable than what you already know.
On procrastination and being stuck
Everything stinks till it’s finished. Ever wonder why you never finish that book, set up that blog, or take time to sit down and meditate? Our most important work is always the hardest. We fear our own potential and we feel the resistance. Procrastination kicks in and tries to trick us. “You don’t have to finish the book today,” it tells us. “You can do it tomorrow!” (Notice how it’s not telling us that we can’t do it, but it’s simply suggesting that we can do it another day.) Fortunately, Dr. Seuss gives us a nudge of his wisdom on how to battle procrastination and many other

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
pressing problems when he writes: Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple. So, what’s the answer to the complicated question: “How can I overcome procrastination?” The answer is to sit down and get started. Simple does not mean easy. But if you are determined to show up and do the work, then you will come through. Sure, you will encounter troubles along the way. As Dr. Seuss points out: I’ve heard there are troubles of more than one kind; some come from ahead, and some come from behind. But I’ve brought a big bat. I’m all ready, you see; now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!
On imagination and the creative process
I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. I like nonsense too. In fact, I get most of my ideas from it. But why is our imagination such a powerful tool? It’s because it allows us play with our thoughts, and try different angles. We often take our ideas too seriously. We believe they must be perfect before we can do something about them. Indeed, it’s usually the other way around. It’s the work that refines the idea. Throw in a little nonsense and you’re more likely to find a way out. Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh the thinks you can think up if only you try! Creative people make connections others do not. You know that connectthe-dots drawing game you used to play as a a kid? There was always someone who shouted out the answer before the drawing was finished. These moments could be annoying, but also very telling. Creative people can spot the whole picture before everyone else.
Life is like a big connect-the-dots game. What can you see that others miss? Show us. We want to see too.
On success
And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed. If you work hard, you’re more likely to achieve success. But there’s always a slim chance (one and a quarter, to be exact) that you won’t. Success, just like happiness, is a by-product of your efforts. In other words, no one can guarantee you success. But sometimes success can happen too fast. We might not feel ready for it. If that’s you, then remember these wise words from Dr. Seuss: If things start happening, don’t worry, don’t stew. Just go right along and you’ll start happening too.
On life balance
Step with care and great tact, and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. You don’t have much time and everyone is battling for your attention. These resources come in strict supply, which is why you must learn to set your priorities. This is not always an easy task, but you can begin by saying no to activities that don’t add much value to your life. Who is worthy of your time and attention? Make an effort to spend more time with them, but please don’t forget to take time for yourself. Life is a great balancing act indeed!
On appreciation and gratitude
From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere. It’s easy to forget the smaller things in life. But Dr. Seuss reminds us that there are lessons to be learned and people to be grateful for on every step of the way. Funny things are everywhere, so keep your eyes open!
On making the most of your future and embracing your inner child
Only you can control your future. This is one of Dr. Seuss’s most important life lessons. We can choose our response in any set of circumstances, and that’s what shapes us. How we choose to live our life is up to us. We can’t blame others for our mistakes. Indeed, we must stop comparing ourselves to others all the time. His books encourage us to explore the world, have fun trying new things, and make new friends. But above all, he wants us to wake up to the child that’s living inside of us. As he points out:Adults are obsolete children. Embrace your inner child. You can learn a lot from her, if only you give her the chance. Listen to your childhood dreams and aspirations. It’s never too late to act. Whether you’re young or old, sick or healthy, remember this inspirational quote from Dr. Seuss: Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. Dr. Seuss’s legacy, his work continues to inspire us, and his world-famous books live on. But some of Dr. Seuss’s most important life lessons are about perseverance, showing up and doing the work, and ultimately, finding the courage to be yourself.

Wake Up
and Feel Super Positive for the Day Health Lifestyle by Kamila Gornia
Do you ever wake up and you remember all the stuff you have to do, and you just want to hide under the covers and not come out? That feeling is all too known for many of us but thankfully you don’t have to ever feel this way.
Did you know that our thoughts create our emotions? Since we have total control over our thoughts (I know it might not feel like it sometimes), you also have the power to start your day on a super positive note each and every day. Here are some ways to help you get in the right mindset and enjoy every day as it comes.
Try to remember your dreams
Whether you want to analyze them later or just use them as an entertaining and fun video that plays in your head, dreams are a great way to feel more positive for the day. I recommend making sure you get enough sleep but also keeping a dream journal next to your bed so that you can write the dream down as soon as you wake up. Over time, remembering them will become easier and you will be able to make more sense of them as they relate to your own life.
Consider what makes you happy
Thoughts create emotions. Happy thoughts create happy emotions. It’s super simple but it’s so true – think about the things you love to do that make you happy. Just visualizing doing something that makes you happy is bound to make you actually feel happier in return.
Give gratitude
Gratitude is one of the most important practices I always recommend to my clients. It’s easy to get caught in the cycle of negative thinking and eventually forgetting how good you actually have it. When you spend some time in the morning to list out 5 things you are grateful for, it shifts your whole mindset and your day becomes so much brighter.
Relax your body
Without physical relaxation, we breed stress and anxiety in our body. Make sure your daily routine includes self-care that allows you to relax your body. Whether it’s a massage, yoga, or a nice bath – relaxing your body is important ingredient to feeling positive every day.
Focus on breathing
Throughout the day, the more stress and to-do’s get put on our plates, the more anxiety heighten. We may not even realize that our breathing changes and becomes
more shallow as we get stressed out. A really quick and simple tip is take a moment and notice your breathing. Is it shallow? Take some deeper breaths and let them out very slowly. Do this a couple of times and enjoy an increased feel of relaxation within minutes.
Don’t attach to your thoughts
Each day we create stories around the circumstances and events that surround us. Researchers say that we have about 60,000 thoughts per day! How exhausting is that? The less you attach to your thoughts and let them pass through without believing them and letting them affect you, the more likely you are to feel at peace and relaxed throughout the day.
Stay off social media
If you’re one of the people that checks their social media or email as soon as you wake up – stop that now! I didn’t realize how much it affects you until you stop doing it for a while. Each morning spent away from social media is so much more relaxed, peaceful, and joyful. We aren’t screamed at by a constant influx of information and messages and our mind has the capacity to just be.
Prepare a delicious breakfast
Instead of wasting your morning checking your Facebook feed, get yourself to the kitchen and prepare a beautiful delicious (and nutritious) breakfast! Protein pancakes anyone? Sunny side eggs? Perfection. Now, isn’t that so much better?
Establish a meditation practice
Making meditation a non-negotiable in your routine can be a real life-changer! Not only will you feel more peaceful and centered, you will feel more in tune with your body and your surroundings. Don’t worry if you aren’t a seasoned meditator yet. Meditation isn’t just sitting cross-legged humming “Ommmm” – you can do so much more, including dance meditation, mindfulness techniques, hypnosis, and more.
Don’t check your phone until much later
Just as you shouldn’t check your social media right when you wake up, try to refrain from checking your phone until a little bit later too. You’ll really notice how much technology can have a negative effect on our mind and energy levels. Don’t get sucked in too early!
Go for a morning run
Ahhh… endorphins! What better way to start the day than with these feel-good hormones? Go for a nice run in the

morning, before the weather gets too hot, and you’ll be glad you did.
Play with your pets
I had a friend who always played with her dog in the morning. They would get breakfast, stretch out and play before heading off to work. It helped her connect with her pet, feel happier, and start the day off on a joyful note. I mean, it’s nearly impossible to be angry or sad after playing with your beloved pet.
Read an inspiring book or article
A nice part of your morning routine could be reading blogs you subscribe to. Reading something inspiring and motivating in the morning is bound to get you revved up and ready to tackle the day.
Listen to a great inspiring podcast
Similarly as with an inspiring book – listen to a great podcast to get your mind buzzing with motivation to get yourself to the next step in your day.
Set your alarm to an uplifting tune
Consider changing your ring tone for the alarm. Don’t use the crazy buzzing noise. Instead, put something nice and melodic that begins soft and gets increasingly louder as time goes. It won’t jerk you awake and you are more likely to enjoy waking up to a lovely sound than you are to something intense, like a regular alarm noise.
We do Commercial and Residential work.
Create a routine that includes morning self-care
Whatever that might be for you – meditation, yoga, reading, a walk… whatever it is, make sure you make it a part of your routine and something that is non-negotiable. After all having a great day is non-negotiable! The more you do this, the easier it will become.
Look at something beautiful
A great way to shift your mood and become more peaceful and uplifted automatically is to look at something beautiful. Maybe it’s a flower, maybe it’s your husband or wife, maybe it’s a painting that’s hanging in your room… whatever it is, take a minute or two just to appreciate its beauty. You’ll be amazed how quickly this tactic works to bring your mood way up!
Wake up to clean room
The messier your room is, the messier your mind will feel. I always tell my clients that in order to get your mind organized, you have to get your space organized first.
Clean up your room and you’ll notice how much the energy in the room becomes more peaceful and welcoming.
Ask yourself “How can I make this day amazing?”
It’s a simple question but it’s so powerful. By simply asking yourself “How can I make today amazing?” you make yourself realize that you are in control of how your day goes and how you feel about it. Then, do the things to make it amazing!
Smile regardless of how you might feel at first
Even if you feel like you want to stay in bed for the entire day and mope around, don’t. Smile to yourself. Better yet, look at yourself in the mirror and smile at yourself. My dad does this every single morning for a minute or two and he swears it changes his whole mood and outlook for the entire day. It’s worth a try!

1. Turn the oven to 180°C/fan160°C/gas 4. Peel the potatoes and carefully cut them in half, then into quarters. Peel the carrots and cut each carrot into about 4 or 5 even pieces. 2. Prick the sausages all over with a fork – this helps the fat to run out of the sausages, so that they don’t split open as they cook. Heat the olive oil in a heavybased casserole and fry the sausages, turning often, until lightly golden all over – this should take about 10 minutes. Remove the sausages from the pan and put them on a plate. 3. Add the chopped onion to the casserole (there will still be some oil in the pan from the sausages) and continue to cook over a low heat for 5-10 minutes, until the onion is slightly soft. Add the garlic and paprika and cook for another minute. 4. Add the chopped potatoes and carrots and stir everything around in the casserole so that the vegetables are coated with the oil. 5. Add the tomatoes and stock (to measure the stock, you can use the empty tomato can – filled up, it will hold 400ml of stock) and the bay leaves. Bring to a simmer (so it’s just bubbling gently). Return the sausages to the casserole. 6. Using your oven gloves, carefully put the casserole into the oven. Cook for 45 minutes, until the potatoes are cooked through, and serve.

Lack of sunlight and moisture and excessive dryness are signs of winter that alleviate skin and hair troubles, demanding special care! To ensure we retain healthy and beautiful skin and tresses, we must keep them moisturised and nourished at all times during this season.
Change your Skin and Hair Care routine to meet the weather changes: · Keep your toes warm: Winter chills can hurt your feet, ensure you wear warm socks while stepping out and slippers at home, to avoid dryness and soreness. To keep feet moisturized, apply foot care cream daily at night before going to bed.
· Handle your hair with care: Hair becomes weak, brittle and lack
of sunlight can lead to dandruff. Look for shampoos that suit your needs and add extra moisture to your hair, besides giving protection from dandruff. Hot water can be tempting in winters, however it can remove the moisture from your hair, therefore use lukewarm water only for shampooing.
· Hydrated skin, healthy skin: Avoid hot showers, as it makes your
body lose all its moisture and thereby making it dry and dull. Take a lukewarm shower, gently dry your skin and apply an intensive moisturizing lotion while your skin is still moist. This makes the absorption better as the pores are open and helps retain moisture for a long period. Especially in winters, apply moisturising lotion before going to bed as well.
· Avoid chapping and add sunshine: The layer of the skin on your
lips is thinner and dries out much faster than the skin on your body. Use moisturizing lip balm with natural colours that adds shines as well as keeps your lips soft and supple.

Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Bill Gates: Don’t Fear Of Change.

CHANGENOW MAGAZINE JULY 2014
Children need to have more fun this winter holidays. Take the time to play with them outside and stimulate them
Nothing can take the place of a mum or dad saying, "come, let's play a game". But many parents - rich and poor - admit that they neither make the time nor have the emotional will to engage in real play with their children. Those who do not bother, or rely too much on TV for support, are neglecting their children. It's deprivation, and often there is no excuse for it.

But, when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they are all stuck sharing a suite ..... Title: House of Magic Genre: Animation, Adventure, Family Opens: 4 July 2014, Friday Thunder, an abandoned young cat seeking shelter from a storm, stumbles into the strangest house imaginable. Not everyone welcomes the new addition to the troupe, and Jack Rabbit and Maggie Mouse plot to evict Thunder. ..... Title: Think Like a Man Too Place your bets. Genre: Comedy, Romance Opens: 25 July 2014, Friday All the couples are back for a wedding in Las Vegas, but plans for a romantic weekend go awry when their various misadventures get them into some compromising situations that threaten to derail the big event.
Children relish the chance to explore. They need it. Although all children benefit from games, those who have experienced any kind of difficulty really get a lot out of imaginative type of play, even if they find it hard to relax and figure out how to do things in the beginning. Games build confidence. "Parents spend a lot of time barking orders at their children because they're so busy running around trying to keep their own lives going. They're missing out on that amazing, warm, caring interaction that comes from playing." A great example is that too many children around the world felt closer to Bob the Builder and other TV characters than their parents, and this was reason for concern. Who plays with them? This could disturb the process of developing real-life relationships, and the lack of human interaction could lead to emotional and communication problems. Talking and singing to children were critical to the development of empathy and language. Playing outside actively shapes brain development in children, helping them develop a decision-making process (Should I touch this? What happens if I lift this rock up? Where did the water go and why?), as well as giving them a sense of control, independence and survival instincts which are vital to a mature adult existence. And, of course, most critically of all — we know that a connection with the wild environment enhances wellbeing, and young people who understand the natural world around them from childhood are more likely to be ecologically considerate adult citizens in later life.
