Within its STEMbased academic environment, Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM) delivers distinctive, high-valued academic programs that are business focused, technology integrated and experientially driven to educate and prepare our students to not only be competitive in today’s business world, but also to excel and become leaders in the future. the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the highest standard of excellence for business schools globally. Our 26 full-time faculty members all hold doctoral degrees from among the world’s best-known universities. Grants and Awards Yi Chen, associate professor of business data science and The Henry J. Leir Chair in Healthcare, was named a recipient of the prestigious Google Faculty Research Award. Chen’s current research focuses on information discovery on big data, social computing and social network analysis, workflow management and information integration, with applications in business, web and health care domains. Zhipeng (Alan) Yan, associate professor of finance, received a 2014 Top 10 Outstanding Researchers Award at the 2015 Internet Economy Researcher Conference in Beijing. His research focuses on “Caring for the Elderly: Top 100 Chinese City Index.” Michael Ehrlich, associate professor of finance, received a National Science Foundation I-Corp program grant to assist faculty in moving research from the laboratory into commercialization.

Research Facilities and Initiatives The Leir Center for Financial Bubble Research, through the application of quantitative and qualitative research, seeks to understand how a financial bubble can be identified, including its stages of development and what policies can best manage its impacts. Developing a much more precise understanding of what is and is not a bubble represents an important area of research. The LIXIN-NJIT Economic Risk Early Warning Center is an interdisciplinary venue for research on economic and financial risks and early warning systems. The center studies and researches methodologies of early warning for studying macroeconomic risk, industry risk identification and early warning, bank liquidity risk warning index system, bank credit risk and internal credit. Business Analytics and Data Science Research fosters a better understanding of the dynamic business environment with the application of big data techniques and machine-learning constructs to extract business insights through advanced data analytics, robust simulation tools and high-performance visualization techniques; and to explore entrepreneurship and innovation of novel Business Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and business solutions in collaboration with industry and regional economic development partners. The Initiative for Healthcare Data Science at NJIT is led by Yi Chen, associate professor of business data science and The Henry J. Leir Chair in Healthcare, with joint appointments in Ying Wu College of Computing. This initiative investigates how big data in biomedical literature, electronic health records and social media can be used to better understand current health care practices, provide analytics for decision making and promote patient engagement, in order to improve clinical outcomes and reduce costs. The research is supported by The Leir Charitable Foundations and National Science Foundation. The Ray Cassetta Financial Analysis and Trading Laboratory is a high-technology trading lab with a cluster of Bloomberg terminals and digital-display technologies including a stock ticker. The Business Analytics Laboratory is a cloud computing platform facility with high-speed network communications and links to the NJIT High-Performance Computing Center. There are 30 workstations for instruction and research with digital displays and smart boards.

Martin Tuchman School of Management Graduate Programs Master of Science in Management (M.S.M.) The M.S.M. is designed for professionals who want to transition into a managerial position, but also desire to retain their allegiance to an area of technical expertise and blend it with fundamental management knowledge. The degree enhances business acumen demanded by the ever-evolving economic landscape, and complements prior science and technology training. Students can complete the 10-course, 30-credit program in two years of part-time study or one year of full-time study (the M.S.M. core is offered online). Evening courses are available to accommodate working professionals. 15-credit Core. 15-credit M.S.M. concentration options include: • Business Analytics - focused on business development, solutions, product development and analysis of customer requirements; ideal for advancing skills in business forecasting, project costing and accounting, and solutions to complex customer/business problems. • Global Project Management - focused on manufacturing, construction, supply chain and business process management; designed for professionals interested in complex project management, relationship facilitation and coordination between project teams and customers, and the synchronization of project scope, time, expenditures and end-product quality. • Web Systems and Media - focused on marketing strategies, front end-user experience analysis, SEO management and team product development associated with web and social-media applications; prepares students for web development, graphics development, media/journalism and online marketing strategy. Master of Business Administration (MBA) The NJIT MBA exposes students to the critical technological, social and economic trends that are transforming the business landscape and affecting industries, companies and employees. The 16-course, 48-credit program is offered for both full- and part-time study, with evening, weekend and online classes. Summer courses also are available. The curriculum is distributed over three modules: Business Fundamentals (27 credits), Core Electives (9 credits) and Concentration Areas (12 credits). 12-credit MBA concentration options include: • Finance - focused on rigorous study of financial strategies for technologically intensive firms; ideal for financial management focused professionals. • Health Care Management - focused on health care from a business, information science and technology perspective, using the latest analytical techniques and information technology

tools; structured for people who want to understand security, privacy and information management issues in health care. • Innovation and Entrepreneurship - focused on the transformation of ideas into marketable innovations and the creation of new businesses. Business professionals gain the skills needed to commercialize new technologies whether they want to work for a large organization or start up their own company. • Management Information Systems - focused on the role of information management, business process management and enhanced business intelligence systems in gaining a competitive advantage in business; suited for people wishing to lead the planning, building and maintaining of information systems that enable the globally networked organization. • Marketing - focused on the reinterpretation of traditional marketing concepts in response to today’s tech-driven markets and media; ideal for understanding the full range of choices and strategies in a “bricks and clicks” economy, including how companies win, retain and interact with customers. • Custom Specialization - developed for students who wish to design their own career trajectory through consultation with and approval by a faculty member in the discipline of choice. • STEM-MBAs - accelerated B.S./MBA programs offered jointly with STEM disciplines - launched Fall 2016 with engineering. Ph.D. in Business Data Science The Ph.D. in Business Data Science integrates business analytics and management systems theory with scientific methods from statistics, computing science and engineering to improve knowledge discovery and decision-making in business and management. This new program is specifically designed to produce Ph.D. graduates to satisfy the accelerating demand for researchers, scholars and scientists who can use data science to create value in diverse business applications such as finance, accounting, operations, marketing and human resources. Executive MBA (EMBA) Program in Global Strategy The EMBA is tailored for busy professionals, managers and entrepreneurs who seek career advancement without disruption to career commitments. The 48-credit EMBA offers long-term gain from a short-term commitment of 18 months of Saturdays, during which students gain knowledge that translates directly into the workplace, and complete instructor-guided projects that link course concepts to work-related issues and problems. The innovative curriculum blends face-to-face classes, online interaction and directed study that promote the ability to tackle the global complexities of business and entrepreneurship.

Alum Spotlight In 2015, Tracy Espiritu, a 2000 M.S.M. graduate, won a Milken Educator Award along with a $25,000 prize. Espiritu is a STEM educator for the Elizabeth Board of Education in New Jersey and was one of up to 40 recipients nationwide, and the only recipient in New Jersey, to receive the honor during 2014-15. The Milken Educator Awards program was conceived by the Milken Family Foundation to attract, retain and motivate outstanding talent to the teaching profession, and has been dubbed the “Oscars of Teaching.”

STUDENT LIFE AND HOUSING

For M.S.M., MBA and EMBA applicants, NJIT requires an earned four-year bachelor’s degree. Degrees earned in the U.S. must have been taken at an accredited university. Degrees earned outside the U.S. must be the equivalent of a (U.S.) four-year undergraduate degree.

NJIT is a diverse community committed to mutual understanding and respect for others. Our Diversity Programs Office within the Center for Student Involvement initiates and supports activities that promote cultural competency among students. And our Graduate Student Association (GSA) represents the interests of all graduate students in university affairs and offers numerous academic and social events. Students automatically become members once they are accepted into an NJIT graduate program. The NJIT campus features state-of-the-art facilities on 45 acres in the University Heights section of Newark, and is only 20 minutes from New York City, with easy access via public transportation. Our ideal location is also at the center of a powerhouse corporate corridor and burgeoning tech hub that includes over 50 Fortune 500 companies, leading financial firms, engineering firms and industry giants — all of which translates to access to and career opportunities with leaders in a variety of industries.

EMBA applicants: significant work experience, demonstrating steady career advancement; also required are two professional references and a personal interview with the EMBA faculty admissions committee.

Admission Requirements • GRE or GMAT for all full-time applicants. Minimum GMAT score of 500 or equivalent GRE score. Applicants with a minimum GPA of 2.8 from a U.S.-based research institution and candidates with master’s or Ph.D. degrees from a U.S. or Canada-based accredited program may qualify for a GMAT or GRE waiver (Note: Waiver does not apply to Ph.D. program applicants). • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for all international students not holding a degree from a U.S. post-secondary institution. Minimum scores: Internet-based TOEFL – 79, computer-based TOEFL – 213, paper-based TOEFL – 550, IELTS – 6.5 with no sub-score lower than 6.0.
