Maintain Calm It’s hard to maintain calm amid the growing concerns of the Corona Virus (hopefully by the time you’re reading this, the situation has stabilized, or we’ve overcome the virus and are finally free to do as we please). But after being “socially distanced”, I’m sure the idea of calm is a much needed state of mind. With closures just about everywhere limiting social activities and feeling like you’re living in a twilight zone, I’m sure the kids are going bonkers, and you’re at your wits end. When will this get back to normal? Breathe and maintain calm. Perhaps take some time out for yourself. Soak in a bath, read, plan and research... If we’re positive thinkers, this stressful time will blow over, quickly. Start your research on what you’ll be needing or doing with your child. Check out different summer camps and programs, or search for fun destinations and activities. Our goal is to connect families to numerous outlets for schools, enrichment programs, professionals, online sites and other crucial resources. Each growing year produces new challenges, and of course new demands and needs. We hope to build a special needs community and a go to resource guide - in print and online. Please use this valuable resource to call and ask questions. Professionals can help, or can even connect you to their vast network. You’ll be surprised. June 7 will be the family friendly community event “Go the Distance for Autism”, along with several sensory friendly shows and performances throughout NJ. Please contact ahead of time as there may be further date and venue changes. Sign up for our e-newsletters for weekly updates and go to our online calendars (www.njkidsonline.com/events). We hope this handy guide will take you to various places in and around the state. Our website is just a few clicks away to all great stuff too. Please tell our sponsors you found them in the little book! Your feedback and support helps us to continue to produce this resource.
