Bienvenido! I’m Michael, a graphic designer, based in Kenya. I love the challenge that creativity brings as I’m constantly inspired to think, create, and design in different ways that are fun, impactful, and innovative. I have over 12 years experience in design, print production and currently venturing into UI & UX. I have been part of the launch design teams of Eve Girl, The Star Newspaper and handled several annual reports, newsletters, magazines for a diverse clientele over East Africa. I draw my creative influence from keen observations of the global movement of art and culture i.e. film, magazines and architecture. My headphones are a permanent fixture of my wardrobe as reggae and gospel hip hop music are my favourite genres; on my free time I can be found sketching cartoons.

OFFICE SNOOP MY DESK: This is a good day, you should see it on a Monday, it looks like a market. As the day progresses, it gets crazy with paper work. Mondays are usually my toughest day due to the weekend activities as I have transactions and emails to action from the entire weekend. I don’t personalize my work station as I try to separate my work and personal life.
SUPPLEMENTS: I am health freak. I work out and do my best to eat healthy. These are vitamins and minerals. I do weights and cardio four to five times a week.
TWO SCREENS: The two screens help with working with the document management systems. It`s easier as I can refer as I work on actioning instructions sent in by clients, departments or other branches Everyone in my department has two screens.

PIN BOARD: I place things I can`t remember or save on my mind as I do my daily tasks

time for more.
What do I like most about my work: It`s very challenging as it gets me out of my comfort zone and makes me consider a lot of different ideas to have the diaspora products in place for high customer uptake. I spend my Friday nights by enjoying a glass of wine with my girlfriends. If I don’t want to be out I will spend my time with family watching movie at home. My Favourite things: I love the colour purple. I also love wearing high heels, whether I can walk in them the entire day is another story altogether. I use two pairs at the office, a practical everyday medium sized heel and a glam one where minimal walking occurs. Family: I have one son aged 6 years. Most useless piece of advice ever given to me: Nothing is possible as I believe everything is possible and happens for a reason. Where do I see myself in 5 years: Growing into a senior managerial position. I would also like to increase my family by having a daughter. I am also thinking increasing my linguistic skills by learning a foreign language like French.

MY DESK
Kenneth Gitonga tells us more about Work Out Thursdays. In December, the team at the Customer Experience Centre in Westland’s decided to begin working out together. We began this year and we meet for 30 minutes in the breakout area and then go back to our desks. We do Zumba and stretch. Due to the increasing numbers, we are changing the venue to Westlands Primary. Keeping fit is a lifestyle which gives you energy and keeps lifestyles diseases away. We enjoy doing this together.

Terminology
Proportion & Clear Space
EPS
CMYK (print use)
Always surround the Crust logo with the amount of clear space shown to ensure that it is easily identifiable as well as visible and legible wherever it appears.
Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) is a standard format for importing and exporting PostScript language files in all environments. It is usually a single page PostScript language code that describes an illustration which is characterised by smooth edges of defined curves or shapes. All master graphics for our official identities are EPS files. Because EPS files are vector graphics whose foundations are based on mathematical formulas, they have the ability to scale limitlessly. They are the common source file for creating fixed graphics in bitmapped formats such as TIFFs, JPEGs, PNGs or GIFs because
An acronym used to identify four-colour process print reproduction and the four specific colours used. When printed as overlapping screens of dots on paper, these four colours create the illusion of a wide range of colours. The four process colours are: cyan (process blue), magenta (process magenta), yellow (process yellow) and black. The letter K is used for black to avoid potential confusion with blue. These colour values should always be used for printed brand materials.
JPEG JPEG is a file format used primarily to compress photographic images. JPEGs reduce the original image size by subdividing and simplifying complex images, allowing them to transfer more quickly across an Internet connection. JPEG stands for ‘Joint Photographic Experts Group’ and is a common file format for use in web and print publishing. TIFF TIFF stands for Tagged Image File Format, and is a file format used for pixel-based images. TIFFs are the default image type when you are using a professional editing package to produce a final image appropriate for publishing.

Incorrect Usage
Clear space is the minimum ‘breathing room’ maintained around the logo. It also defines the minimum distance between the logo and the edge of a printed piece.
2022
The following colours have been chosen for the brand and should be reproduced according to the production requirements. These colours should not be altered for any reason. Using these colours consistently will build and maintain a strong brand recognition throughout
PANTONE 8200 C
The clear space around the logo is equal to the logo height (see diagram). Do not position any text, graphic elements, or other visual marks inside the recommended clear space.
CMYK: C62 M39 Y30 K2 RGB: R107 G135 B153 HTML: #6B8799
RGB (digital use) Red, Green, Blue. RGB refers to the three colours of light that can be mixed to produce any other colour. These colours correspond to the three colours emitted by televisions and computer monitors, and to the colour receptors in the human eye. RGB values are used to describe colour for all on-screen applications, whereas CMYK and Pantone colour values are intended for print applications.
Please note that this distance may sometimes be adjusted for select online or exterior signage applications where space is limited.
“x” represents the minimum amount of clear space that must surround the logo at all times.
No colour variation unless specified in this document .
No use of heavy drop shadows, embossing or similar effects.
No placement over complex photographs or backgrounds without effects or adjustments made to photographs.
