The area will accommodate about 35 people at one time with a variety of strength training equipment to focus on the entire body. This exercise area is available for the community to use and scheduled to open this Fall.

SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SHOREWOOD - BRIGHT BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL 2017 - 2018 SCHOOL YEAR Bright Beginnings Preschool focuses on the individual child, and provides an educational environment that stimulates and nurtures each child’s unique growth potential. We provide numerous exciting and engaging thematic units throughout the year, allowing your children to freely explore and grow in important skill development areas, including: large and fine motor skills, language and literacy, science and math, art and music. Your child’s social and emotional development is of prime importance. At Bright Beginnings, we help each child grow in his or her feelings of self-worth, self-confidence, respect, appreciation of others, love of learning and of school. Our curriculum reflects the most current understanding regarding child development and early education, and embraces Shorewood School District curriculum goals. Our classroom ratio is two adults for sixteen students. Bright Beginnings will follow the school year calendar for the 2017 - 2018 school year. When the elementary schools do not have school, Bright Beginnings will not be held. PRESCHOOL TOILETING GUIDELINES: All children are to be completely toilet trained before the first day of school. If your child is not completely toilet trained, you will be required to be present in the classroom and assist your child with toileting needs. Teachers and volunteers will assist children with buttons or snaps on clothing as necessary. Independence and reinforcement of self-help skills will be encouraged by the teachers. 2017 - 2018 Tuition Payments: A $200 nonrefundable deposit is required at the time of registration to reserve a spot for your child. Receive a $100 discount if tuition is paid in full at registration, otherwise a payment plan is available. All balances must be paid in full by August 1, 2017. SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SHOREWOOD - PARTNERS IN PLAY - NEW The Shorewood School District is offering a unique opportunity for our preschool children. We are seeking children to participate as peer models for our students with special needs in our partners in play program. The classroom will be structured similar to our Bright Beginnings Preschool program with routines and activities, with the content adjusted to the appropriate developmental level for all children-including our peer partners. This is accomplished through an educational program that provides age appropriate activities focused on language development, social interactions, motor skills, and readiness development. Selected peers would model classroom behavior and skills. The program will be staffed by a certified early childhood special education teacher, a speech language pathologist, and one or more classroom assistants depending upon enrollment numbers. Additional therapists and support staff will also be present at certain points in time to work with children as individual needs dictate. We are currently seeking 4-5 typically developing peer partners for the 2017-2018 school year. Peer partners should have strengths in the areas of speech, language, and social-emotional development. All applicants must also be toilet trained. Interested applicants should plan to attend a mandatory, informal screening scheduled for Monday, August 21 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Lake Bluff Room 2. All interested families need to register for the screening by calling the Rec Dept at 963-6913 x4 or online with course # 1299.1 no later than Wednesday, August 16th. Must be at least 3 years by September 1, 2017. Partners in Play will follow the school year calendar for the 2017 - 2018 school year. Location: Teacher:
