Shorewood Chill

When winter’s chill arrives in Wisconsin, after all the leaves have been raked, watch closely and you can see the playgrounds at Atwater and Lake Bluff Elementary Schools transform into ice rinks. This annual metamorphosis has been going on in one form or another for well over 70 years in the Village of Shorewood. For the past several years both Atwater and Lake Bluff Schools have enlisted a hardy band of parent volunteers who call themselves “The Ice Captains” to construct and maintain these ice rinks.
