18TH DECEMBER 2016 7.00PM

Welcome A warm welcome to our Christingle Service this evening from all at New Laigh Kirk. We are glad you are here with us to share in this service of light and carol singing.

Order of Service Carol Introit - Jesus Messiah

Joy to the world! The Lord is come. Let earth receive her King; Let every heart Prepare him room, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven, and heaven and nature sing. Joy to the world, the Saviour reigns! Let men their songs employ While fields and floods, Rocks, hills and plains, Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat the sounding joy. He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of his love, And wonders of his love, And wonders, wonders of His love.

Prayer St Luke 2:8-20 St John 12:37-50 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God and the Word was with God.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God and the Word was with God. And everything that has been made has been made through him, nothing made without him. And everything that has been made has been made through him, nothing made without him. In him was life, that life was light for everyone. The darkness tries, but the light will not be overcome. The light that shines for everyone has come into the world. The light of Christ the only Son has come into the world, has come into the world He made his dwelling in the world as the Word made flesh, and we've seen his glory. He made his dwelling in the world as the Word made flesh, and we've seen his glory. And in the sending of the Son, grace and truth have come through the one and only. And in the sending of the Son, grace and truth have come through the one and only. In him was life, that life was light for everyone. The darkness tries, but the light will not be overcome. The light that shines for everyone has come into the world.

The light of Christ the only Son has come into the world, has come into the world Story of the Christingle The Christingle is made of an orange, which is round like the world God made. For he showed us his love in creation: In the world we see his power displayed. Sing Christingle, Sing Christingle, Sing Christingle it's the light of Christ. Sing Christingle, Sing Christingle, Sing Christingle it's the light of Christ. Every year we give thanks for the seasons, And the fruits of the earth God gives. The Christingle is here to remind us Of the love of God for all that lives Sing Christingle, Sing Christingle... ... Then to show us his love, God sent Jesus We remember his birth again. But the red ribbon round the Christingle, shows that our sin cost him blood and pain. Sing Christingle, Sing Christingle... ... To complete the Christingle a candle, Shining out with a bright new flame. Telling us of the true light of Jesus, Shining on in those who love his name. Sing Christingle, Sing Christingle

Let us pray: all say together

Light of Christ, fill our hearts. Light of Christ, direct our path. Light of Christ, brighten our days. Light of Christ, shine in our darkness. Light of Christ, transform our lives. Amen. Light the Christingle Candles as we sing together Light of the world, You step down into darkness. Opened my eyes let me see. Beauty that made this heart adore you hope of a life spent with you. And here I am to worship, Here I am to bow down, Here I am to say that you're my God, You're altogether lovely, Altogether worthy, Altogether wonderful to me. King of all days, Oh so highly exalted Glorious in heaven above. Humbly you came to the earth you created. All for love's sake became poor. Here I am to worship, Here I am to bow down, Here I am to say that you're my God, You're altogether lovely, Altogether worthy, Altogether wonderful to me. I'll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross. I'll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross. And I'll never know how much it cost

to see my sin upon that cross. No I'll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross. Here I am to worship, Here I am to bow down, Here I am to say that you're my God, You're altogether lovely, Altogether worthy, Altogether wonderful to me. So Here I am to worship, Here I am to bow down, Here I am to say that you're my God, O come, all ye faithful, Joyful and triumphant, O come ye, O come ye To Bethlehem; Come and behold Him, Born the King of angels; O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord. Sing, choirs of angels, Sing in exultation, Sing, all ye citizens Of heaven above, Glory to God All glory in the highest. O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Yes, Lord, we greet Thee, Born this happy morning; Jesus, to Thee be all Glory giv'n: Word of the Father, Now in flesh appearing: O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

While shepherds kept their watching Over silent flocks by night Behold throughout the heavens, There shone a holy light The shepherds feared and trembled When lo! above the earth Rang out the angel chorus That hailed our Saviour's birth Go, Tell It On The Mountain, Over the hills and everywhere; Go, Tell It On The Mountain That Jesus Christ is born. Down in a lowly manger Our humble Christ was born And God sent us salvation, That blessed Christmas morn When I am a seeker, I sought both night and day;

I sought the Lord to help me, And He shows me the way Go, Tell It On The Mountain, Over the hills and everywhere; Go, Tell It On The Mountain That Jesus Christ is born. O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord. For He alone are worthy For He alone are worthy For He alone are worthy Christ the Lord Go, Tell It On The Mountain, Over the hills and everywhere; Go, Tell It On The Mountain That Jesus Christ is born. We gather informally around the Christmas tree and sing some

favourite Carols under the light of the tree. Benediction
