Church news and activities The Welcome Team today is Helen Colman, Esther Douglas, Gordon McIlwraith, Margaret Paterson, Brian Laurens, Margaret Hope, Eileen Murphy, Alasdair MacLean, Ian Anderson, Elizabeth McIlwraith, Stan Nathan, Valerie Nathan, Tim Purdon, Fiona Duffy, Jan Lamberton and Graeme Johnstone. Worship on Sunday, 5th January will be conducted by the Minister beginning at 11.00am. There will be a short service of communion in church immediately after the service. Kingz Kidz and Trekkers resume on Sunday, 12th January and meet in church at 10.50am and sit together. Thank you to everyone who participated in any way to New Laigh Kirk’s Advent and Christmas opening activities. Your time and talent and your welcome and enthusiasm has been much appreciated. The book, "New Laigh Kirk: a History of new Beginnings" is now on sale. This book includes brief accounts of the three churches which united as New Laigh Kirk. It can be purchased for £5 when the church is open during the week. Guild will meet on Monday, 6th January at 7.15pm in lower hall. Whiteleys Retreat by Bernard Smith. Music and Movement will meet on Tuesday, 7th January at 2.00pm in lower hall. Friendship Group will meet on Wednesday, 8th January at 2.00pm in lower hall. Prayer Group will meet on Wednesday, 8th January at 7.00pm in the church. All are welcome but if you cannot come in person, please leave a prayer request in the box in church or on our Facebook page. The Welcome Group will be holding a Burns Supper on Saturday, 18th January 2020. Tickets will be ÂŁ18 which includes a 2 course meal and will be available from Margaret Brown, Bill Sherry and Robert Taylor. If you have any dietary issues, then please contact a member of the Welcome Group team. There will be haggis as a starter and steak pie on the menu, however there is an option for a chicken dish but this must be ordered in advance. Should you require transport to attend the supper, please let any of the above know. Please note that this is a live streaming only and you will not be able to view the service on any media later except by a recorded DVD. It can be viewed on a computer, tablet, smartphone or smart TV. For any further help please speak to any member of the AV team on a Sunday. If you have any used postage stamps, please give them to Esther Douglas as they are passed on to the Blind Club to be sold to deserving charities. It would be greatly appreciated if you could leave a border of about 8mm (1/2 inch) as this is needed. EACHa runs a drop-in for homeless and vulnerable people in our John Finnie Street halls on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. On offer is food, friendship, advice and hope for the future.
