New Laigh Kirk A caring welcoming church at the heart of Kilmarnock reaching out to all

Welcome to Worship Second Sunday of Easter 23rd April 2017 Minister: Rev. David S. Cameron Session Clerk: Derek I’Anson Organist: Martin C. Sharp

Order of Service Welcome and Intimations Choir Introit: I know that my Redeemer lives In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song; This Cornerstone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in All, Here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone, who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save. Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied; For every sin on Him was laid, Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain; Then bursting forth in glorious Day, Up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory, Sin's curse has lost its grip on me; For I am His and He is mine, Bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

New Testament reading campaign

Week 8 24th April-28th April 2017 We’ve come to the final week of our Community Bible Experience. This week, we’ll read 1-3 John, followed by one of the most unique books in the New Testament: Revelation. After this week’s reading, you’ll meet one more time with your group. Spend some time reflecting on your journey. How did God speak to you? How did your reading affect your understanding of Scripture? Share your experience with our congregation. Write something for the magazine or the website. Finally, take a moment to celebrate what you’ve accomplished. Reading the entire New Testament is a major achievement! WELL DONE What do you do now - start again!!!!! Meet On Wednesday 3rd May 10.00am in the church

Your Community Bible Experience Reading Plan Week 8 Week 8: 1-3 John, Revelation John’s first letter emphasises the importance of believing that Jesus came in the flesh, while his second and third letters instruct churches on how to deal with false teachers and faithful ministers of the gospel, respectively. Revelation is an apocalyptic book meant to encourage persecuted believers to endure to the very end. Day 36 p. 409-423 read 1 John, 2 John until the end of 3 John Day 37 p. 425-431 read Revelation ch 1 to end of ch 3 until “…what the Spirit says to the churches.” Day 38 p. 431-444 read Rev ch 4 to ch 16 until “…because the plague was so terrible.” Day 39 p. 444-453 read Rev ch 17 until the end of Revelation
