Church News and Activities The Welcome Team today and on Sunday, 19th May is Janice Grant, Lesley Shedden, Pat Armstrong, Nana Lauchlan, Ellen Stewart, Alan Gregor, Neil Hamilton, Stuart Layburn, Tom Dalziel, Margaret Ross, Annette McClymont, Gordon Armstrong, Anne Scullion, Miriam Patterson, Moira Goudie, Robert Clark and John Richmond. Worship on Sunday, 19th May will be conducted by the Minister beginning at 11.00am. Kingz Kidz and Trekkers should meet in church at 10.50am. Crèche facility for young children in Session Room. Tea and coffee will be served in church immediately after the service.
Articles, notices and photographs are now required for inclusion in June issue of Magazine (which will be available for distribution on 2nd June). These may be typed, handwritten or word-processed and sent as email attachments to the Editor or placed in Magazine pigeonhole in Session Room. Articles in Word format (Calibri 12 preferred). Final date for submissions is TODAY. Volunteers are required for Christian Aid house to house collection during the week 12th to 18th May in the following areas - Glasgow Road and Beansburn, Grange, Bonnyton and Woodstock areas. If you are able to help, please speak to Graeme Johnstone or Helen Colman. Christian Aid will be holding a Street Collection in the town centre on Saturday, 18th May. If you can help with this, please contact Helen Colman. A seven day devotional guide and spare Christian Aid Week envelopes are available today. The Guild Rally will take place on Monday, 13th May at 7.30pm in Darvel Parish Church. The speaker will be Karen Gillon from Guild headquarters. All are welcome! Services of worship on Tuesday, 14th May at 2.00pm in Argyll House and at 3.00pm in Grange Nursing Home. Kirk Session Meeting on Tuesday, 14th May has been cancelled. NLK Walking Group. The regular Wednesday evening summer walks continue on Wednesday, 15th May. Meet at 7.00pm every Wednesday (weather permitting) in the main car park at Dean Castle Country Park. Monthly Walk on the afternoon of Sunday, 19th May - around Oswald's Trail at Auchencruive has been cancelled. NLK Walking Group's Annual 'Grand Day Out' to Arran. Weather permitting, this will take place on SATURDAY, 1st June (with 8th June as a fallback in case of inclement weather). We will catch the 9.45am ferry from Ardrossan. Please arrive at the ferry terminal no later than half an hour prior to departure. Adult foot passenger return fare is ÂŁ8. There are a range of times for return ferries. We often have a meal together either before catching a return ferry, or in the Ardrossan area. There will be a choice of routes, to suit a range of walking interests and abilities,
including the easier Fisherman's Trail route. Anyone doing a longer route should bring a packed lunch. Fisherman's Trail walkers usually buy a snack lunch at the bistro at Wineport. If you require, or can offer transport to/from Ardrossan, please let Helen Colman know by Sunday, 26th May at the latest. Worship Music Workshop with New Scottish Hymns Band meeting in the church on Thursday, 16th May at 7.00pm. We encourage everyone to come along and enjoy a more musically interactive session with Greg and Pete as they continue to influence the development of new arrangements of hymns for worship in the church. Highlights Klub. Dinner at Bar Luca on Friday, 17th May. Fellowship of Kilmarnock Churches. Service on Sunday, 26th May at 6.30pm at St Kentigern’s Church. Gifts of the People theme. Everyone welcome. Keswick Ayrshire will be held from Friday, 31st May to Sunday, 2nd June from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in Park Hotel. Guest speaker is Mr Jeremy McQuoid. Theme for evening session is "Confidence in Christ". There will be a Saturday morning session called "Confidence in the Bible". During the weekend Maud Kells will be sharing experience of serving in the Congo for over twenty years as a Missionary with WEC. Worship by Keswick Ayrshire Band. The Girl Guides and Alison (for her guiding international trip) would like to thank all who helped, donated and came to our coffee morning on Saturday, 4th May. We made ÂŁ750 in total. Thank you for all your continued support and help. EACHa runs a drop-in for homeless and vulnerable people in our John Finnie Street halls on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. On offer is food, friendship, advice and hope for the future. Volunteers are always welcome, to help prepare the food or to make our guests feel welcome. To find out more, contact EACHa's Secretary, Janice Grant. Church Open and Welcome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. We urgently require a pool of volunteers, especially men, to welcome the visitors on a rota basis. We are particularly short of volunteers on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you can help even occasionally, it would be most appreciated. Please speak to Helen Colman. Remember that the more volunteers there are, the less often you will be on duty! Open Doors. New Laigh Kirk will be opening its doors to all on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. The Church will be open for those who want to come for a period of solitude or reflection; to see the stained glass windows from the inside; or to find out some of the history of the church and town. New Laigh Kirk Volunteers - Needing help with shopping, DIY, gardening or a lift to medical appointments? Do you find reading difficult with failing eyesight?
