Church news and Activities Worship on Sunday, 20th October will be conducted by Rev. Jeanette Whitecross, formerly of Kilwinning Old Parish Church, beginning at 11.00am. The Welcome Team today and on Sunday, 20th October is Barbara Allan, Jim Lawson, John McDowall, Iain Sherry, Betty Johnstone, Elaine Bryson, Moyra O'Rourke, Lilian Gillies, Heather Rielly, Jamila McDowall, Jean Mulholland, Emma Johnstone, Christine Bell, Donald MacLean, Ann MacLean, Alan Hewitt and Kevin Handling. Elders who have not ordered the Kirk Session photograph may do so now. If you have ordered, then a payment of £3 can be made to Margaret Patterson or Derek I'Anson. Kingz Kidz are looking for donations of clean, large blankets and pillows for our Story Time. If people have these, could they please leave them in the halls for Amy Tanner. Music and Movement will meet on Tuesday, 15th October at 2.00pm in lower hall. Congregational Board will meet on Tuesday, 15th October at 7.00pm in the church. Pastoral Care Group will meet on Wednesday, 16th October at 7.00pm in the church. Guild of Friendship will meet on Thursday, 17th October at 2.00pm in lower hall. Come along and enjoy a quiz. 4th/5th Kilmarnock Boys' Brigade will meet on Friday, 18th October. Anchor Boys: 6.00pm at St Andrew's and St Marnock's Church Halls. Junior Section: 7.00pm at St Andrew's and St Marnock's Church Halls. Company Section: 7.00pm at New Laigh Kirk Halls. We will be raising funds for Beautiful inside and out and 1st Kilmarnock Rangers on Friday, 18th October in Take a Bow 8.00pm till midnight. Borland Ceilidh band will be playing. Guild will meet on Monday, 21st October at 7.15pm in lower hall. A Guiding Experience with Victoria McDowall. NLK Walking Group’s final monthly Walk for 2019 - at Craufurdland, Fenwick, has been rescheduled to take place on Sunday, 27th October, meeting at 2.00pm in the car park beside The Laird’s Table restaurant at Craufurdland. We will return to the restaurant afterwards for coffee and chat. Anyone requiring, or who can offer transport, please speak to Ellen Stewart. Fellowship of Kilmarnock Churches. Service on Sunday, 27th October at 6.30pm in Hurlford Church. This will include a film on John Knox, which won a BAFTA New Talent Award, an unusual accolade for a Christian film. Everyone welcome.


The next Men’s Club gathering is on Thursday, 7th November and we will be arranging a visit to Hampden Park. The Stadium tour plus Museum visit will cost £5 which is excellent value. We have also planned a lunch at Kilmarnock College on Thursday, 19th December at a cost of £15 per person. Please do consider joining us and let Ken Stewart or Derek I'Anson know if you can manage either of these events. The Bethlehem Experience will take place on Sunday, 24th November as part of the Kilmarnock Christmas Lights Switch On. We’re looking for some actors for the Nativity. We need both adults and children. There are some parts that require only a couple of lines to learn. If you can help, contact Ann Burley ASAP on Tel: 07709 676239. Copies of World Mission News are available. Church Open and Welcome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. We urgently require a pool of volunteers, especially men, to welcome the visitors on a rota basis. We are particularly short of volunteers on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you can help even occasionally, it would be most appreciated. Please speak to Helen Colman. Remember that the more volunteers there are, the less often you will be on duty! Open Doors. New Laigh Kirk will be opening its doors to all on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. The Church will be open for those who want to come for a period of solitude or reflection; to see the stained glass windows from the inside; or to find out some of the history of the church and town. New Laigh Kirk Volunteers - Needing help with shopping, DIY, gardening or a lift to medical appointments? Do you find reading difficult with failing eyesight?
