Church news and activities The Welcome Team today is Barbara Allan, Jim Lawson, John McDowall, Iain Sherry, Betty Johnstone, Elaine Bryson, Moyra O'Rourke, Lilian Gillies, Heather Rielly, Jamila McDowall, Jean Mulholland, Emma Johnstone, Christine Bell, Donald MacLean, Ann MacLean, Alan Hewitt and Kevin Handling. Worship on Sunday, 27th October will be conducted by the Minister beginning at 11.00am. Kingz Kidz and Trekkers should meet in church at 10.50am and sit together. Tea and coffee will be served in the church immediately after the service. Elders who have not ordered the Kirk Session photograph may do so now. If you have ordered, then a payment of £3 can be made to Margaret Patterson or Derek I'Anson. Kingz Kidz are looking for donations of clean, large blankets and pillows for our Story Time. If people have these, could they please leave them in the church halls for Amy Tanner. Guild will meet on Monday, 21st October at 7.15pm in lower hall. A Guiding Experience with Victoria McDowall. Tots Praise will meet on Tuesday, 22nd October at10.15am in lower hall. Music and Movement will meet on Tuesday, 22nd October at 2.00pm in lower hall. Rainbows will meet on Wednesday, 23rd October from 6.00pm to 7.00pm in upper hall and Brownies from 6.30pm to 8.00pm in lower hall. Guides will meet on Wednesday, 23rd October from 7.30pm to 9.00pm in upper hall. There will be a meeting of the Welcome Group on Wednesday, 23rd October at 7.00pm in the Session Room. The Choir Practice will meet on Thursday, 24th October at 7.30pm in the church. 4th/5th Kilmarnock Boys' Brigade will meet on Friday, 25th October. Anchor Boys: 6.00pm at St Andrew's and St Marnock's Church Halls. Junior Section: 7.00pm at St Andrew's and St Marnock's Church Halls. Company Section: 7.00pm at New Laigh Kirk Halls, John Finnie Street. Presbytery Prayer Meeting on Saturday, 26th October from 10.00am to 10.45am at Riccarton Church. Tea and coffee will be served from 9.30am. Everyone welcome. NLK Walking Group’s final monthly Walk for 2019 - at Craufurdland, Fenwick, has been rescheduled to take place on Sunday, 27th October, meeting at 2.00pm in the car park beside The Laird’s Table restaurant at Craufurdland. We will return to the restaurant afterwards for coffee and chat. Anyone requiring, or who can offer transport, please speak to Ellen Stewart. Fellowship of Kilmarnock Churches. Service on Sunday, 27th October at 6.30pm in Hurlford Church. This will include a film on John Knox, which won a BAFTA New Talent Award, an unusual accolade for a Christian film. Everyone welcome.


Highlights Klub. Fashion Show by Bonmarché on Monday, 28th October. Time to be confirmed. This will be held in lower hall. Tickets cost £3.50. Guild of Friendship will meet on Thursday, 31st October at 2.00pm in lower hall. Musical afternoon with S M T. Articles, notices and photographs are now required for inclusion in November issue of Magazine (which will be available for distribution on 24th November). These may be typed, handwritten or word-processed and sent as email attachments to the Editor or placed in Magazine pigeonhole in Session Room. Articles in Word format (Calibri 12 preferred). Final date for submissions is Sunday, 3rd November. The next Men’s Club gathering is on Thursday, 7th November and we will be arranging a visit to Hampden Park. The Stadium tour plus Museum visit will cost £5 which is excellent value. We have also planned a lunch at Kilmarnock College on Thursday, 19th December at a cost of £15 per person. Please do consider joining us and let Ken Stewart or Derek I'Anson know if you can manage either of these events. The Bethlehem Experience will take place on Sunday, 24th November as part of the Kilmarnock Christmas Lights Switch On. We’re looking for some actors for the Nativity. We need both adults and children. There are some parts that require only a couple of lines to learn. If you can help, contact Ann Burley ASAP on Tel: 07709 676239. The Innkeepers' Café will be open for business on the 24th November during the Bethlehem Experience. If you can help with baking, to provide sustenance for hungry travellers, could you please give your name to Margaret Brown. Any help to staff the café would also be greatly appreciated. EACHa runs a drop-in for homeless and vulnerable people in our John Finnie Street halls on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. On offer is food, friendship, advice and hope for the future. Volunteers are always welcome, to help prepare the food or to make our guests feel welcome. Church Open and Welcome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. We urgently require a pool of volunteers, especially men, to welcome the visitors on a rota basis. We are particularly short of volunteers on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you can help even occasionally, it would be most appreciated. Please speak to Helen Colman. Remember that the more volunteers there are, the less often you will be on duty! Open Doors. New Laigh Kirk will be opening its doors to all on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 12noon to 2.00pm. The Church will be open for those who want to come for a period of solitude or reflection; to see the stained glass windows from the inside; or to find out some of the history of the church and town.
