New Testament reading campaign
Week 6 10th April-14th April 2017 This week, we’ll cover Hebrews and James. Like Matthew, these books offer a uniquely Jewish perspective on our faith. We’ll also read the action-packed gospel of Mark. You will have some questions and would value some discussion on what you have read, remember we meet like a book club to do just that. These gatherings are a chance to immerse ourselves in the story together. They’re not about finding all the right answers or settling every interpretive debate. We honour each person’s questions and insights—and encourage one another in your reading! Happy reading! Meet for an hour..... On Wednesday 19th April 10.00am in the church
Your Community Bible Experience Reading Plan Week 6 Week 6: Hebrews, James, Mark Like Matthew, the books of Hebrews and James are addressed to a predominantly Jewish audience. Hebrews is a plea for Jewish believers to stay faithful to the Messiah (days 26-27), while James (day 28) is a collection of practical wisdom, much like the Old Testament book of Proverbs. Mark’s gospel (days 29-30) presents the story of Jesus as a two-part drama, with each part containing three acts. Day 26 p. 291-297 read until “…to whom we must give account.” Hebrews up to end of ch 4 Day 27 p. 297-309 read from Hebrews ch 5 until the end of Hebrews Day 28 p. 311-318 read the book of James Day 29 p. 319-334 From the beginning of Mark read until “…not to tell anyone about him.” Mark ch 8:30 Day 30 p. 334-350 from Mark ch 8:31 read until the end of Mark
