Church news and activities The Welcome Team today is Margaret Brown, Elizabeth Milloy, Marion Short, Kirsty McCall, Murray MacGregor, Elizabeth McKelvey, Shirley Auld, Joan Young, James Lang, Steuart Dey, Anne Brown, Maureen Ward, John McLean, Janice Dey, Jay Ward and Murray McCall. Worship on Sunday, 1st September will be our Family Communion Service beginning at 11.00am, where the children of our Kirk are encouraged to participate along with their parents. Everyone serving communion should meet at 9.50am in the church. Would all leaders of organisations wishing allocation and use of the halls, please request in writing or alternatively email, to allankidd1949@gmail.com, the days, dates, times and hall required. Your co-operation and response at your earliest convenience will assist in allocation of halls to satisfy your requirements. Mystery Drive will take place on Sunday, 15th September. Drivers should collect their invitations, which are available from Morgan Johnston after the service TODAY. All help will be greatly appreciated. Tots Praise (Babies to four year olds) will resume on Tuesday, 27th August from 10.15am to 11.15am in lower hall. Pastoral Care Group Meeting on Wednesday, 28th August has been CANCELLED. NLK Walking Group. The monthly walk postponed from last Sunday will be THIS AFTERNOON (weather permitting) to Castle Semple, Lochwinnoch, section of Clyde/Muirshiel Country Park. The final Wednesday evening walk for 2019 will take place on Wednesday 28th August at 7.00pm (weather permitting). Meet at the main Car Park entrance to Dean Castle Country Park. All welcome Rainbows meet from 6.00pm to 7.00pm in upper hall and Brownies from 6.30pm to 8.00pm in lower hall on Wednesday, 28th August. Guides will meet on Wednesday, 28th August from 7.30pm to 9.00pm in upper hall. Guides are open to girls aged 10 to 14 years. 4th/5th Kilmarnock Boys' Brigade will meet on Friday, 30th August. Anchor Boys: For boys aged 5+ and in P1 to P3, 6.00pm at St Andrew's and St Marnock's Church Halls. Junior Section: For boys in P4 to P6, 7.00pm at St Andrew's and St Marnock's Church Halls. Company Section: For boys in P7 to S6, 7.00pm at New Laigh Kirk Halls, John Finnie Street. Presbytery Prayer Meeting on Saturday, 31st August from 10.00am to 10.45am in Kay Park Parish Church. Tea and coffee will be served from 9.30am. Everyone welcome. Friendship Group Outing. There are still seats left on the bus going to Castle Douglas with High Tea in Royal Cumnock Hotel on Saturday, 31st August. If you would like to go, please contact Margaret Paterson, Tel: 551288, or complete slip in June magazine and place in offering plate marking it "Friendship Group Outing". Cost is ÂŁ20 for members of the church and ÂŁ23 for non-members. Bus will leave from Jobcentre in Grange Street at 10.00am. Music for All @ New Laigh Kirk. Live Lounge on Friday, 6th September at 7.30pm. Live Lounge is an acoustic showcase of Ayrshire musicians, bands and musical talent. Live Lounge event is in Association with Ayrshire College and all musical groups are playing in support of mental health awareness in Scotland. Doors will open at 7.00pm and there will be a break for free refreshments. Entrance is free but donations for Scottish Association For Mental Health are welcome. Doors Open Weekend. Doors Open Day is promoted by the Scottish Civic Trust and has support from East Ayrshire Council. Many historic buildings will be open during the first weekend in September. Admission to all buildings is free. New Laigh Kirk will be open on Saturday, 7th September from 10.00am to 4.00pm and on Sunday, 8th September from 1.30pm to 4.00pm. If you would be able to assist with welcoming visitors for an hour or two on either of these dates, please speak to Helen Colman with details of the times that you would be available. NLK Guild's 'Big Guild Quiz' Church of Scotland Guilds are hosting a range of events to mark Guild Week (8th-15th September). NLK Guild is hosting a 'Big Guild Quiz' (with prizes!!) in the lower hall, at 7.30pm on Monday, 9th September. Come along for an evening of friendly competitive fun. Bring a quiz team, invite your friends/family. 6 people max per team. Refreshments will be served. Don't worry if you don't have six people to make up a team, we can easily accommodate you, and would love to have you join us for the evening. All welcome! Found Property: Two items of jewellery and some coins were found on the pathway outside the Church after the 9.30am service on Sunday, 4th August. If they belong to you, please contact Ken Stewart. Over the past few weeks over 100 bags full of food have been delivered to Ayrshire East Food Bank. Thanks to everyone for your kindness. Every item is very much appreciated. Any non-perishable food still welcome, such as pasta and pasta sauce, teabags and instant coffee, tinned fruit, breakfast cereal, UHT milk and instant meals such as Pot Noodle.


EACHa runs a drop-in for homeless and vulnerable people in our John Finnie Street halls on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. On offer is food, friendship, advice and hope for the future. Volunteers are always welcome, to help prepare the food or to make our guests feel welcome. Church Open and Welcome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. We urgently require a pool of volunteers, especially men, to welcome the visitors on a rota basis. We are particularly short of volunteers on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you can help even occasionally, it would be most appreciated. Please speak to Helen Colman. Remember that the more volunteers there are, the less often you will be on duty! Open Doors. New Laigh Kirk will be opening its doors to all on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. The Church will be open for those who want to come for a period of solitude or reflection; to see the stained glass windows from the inside; or to find out some of the history of the church and town. New Laigh Kirk Volunteers - Needing help with shopping, DIY, gardening or a lift to medical appointments? Do you find reading difficult with failing eyesight? Ring our volunteers' helpline, Tel: 07935 852000. A few copies of the Order of Service in large print are available. Please speak to a member of the duty team if you require one. There is an induction loop system for the hard of hearing. Please note there are four exit stairwells from upstairs in the gallery and four exit doors on the ground floor – main door, bell tower door and the two doors off the Session Room corridor. If you are a visitor, please do not hesitate to ask one of the duty team for information about fire exit routes.
