John Urquhart of St Maurs Glencairn Church, Kilmaurs as part of the Kilmarnock Pulpit Exchange while our minister conducts worship at Riccarton and Fenwick churches. Church news and activities The Welcome Team today and on Sunday, 22nd September is Lesley Wright, Hunter Withers, John Dale, Helen Duffy, Mary King, Andrew King, Janis Lewis, Barbara Graham, Ann Burley, Nicola Sherry, Natalie Sharp, Elizabeth Young, Ken Stewart, Elspeth Dale, Douglas Bryson and Graeme Allison. Worship on Sunday, 22nd September will be conducted by the Minister beginning at 11.00am. Junior and Senior Kingz Kidz and Trekkers meet in church at 10.50am and sit together. Tea and coffee will be served in church immediately after the service. Kingz Kidz are looking for donations of clean, large blankets and pillows for our Story Time. If people have these, could they please leave them in the church halls for Amy Hannah. Our Men's Club is now established and have met on three occasions, two of which have been at the Laird's Table in Fenwick. The next gathering is on Tuesday, 17th September at 10.00am, again at the Laird's Table. If you are interested in joining us then please come along or if you prefer, speak to Kenneth Stewart or Derek I'Anson in the first instance. Tots Praise will meet on Tuesday, 17th September from 10.15am to 11.15am in lower hall. Music and Movement will resume on Tuesday, 17th September at 2.00pm in lower hall. New members welcome. Kirk Session will meet on Tuesday, 17th September at 7.00pm in lower hall. Rainbows will meet from 6.00pm to 7.00pm in upper hall and Brownies from 6.30pm to 8.00pm in lower hall on Wednesday, 18th September. Guides will meet on Wednesday, 18th September from 7.30pm to 9.00pm in upper hall.


The Choir Practice will meet on Thursday, 19th September at 7.30pm in the church. 4th/5th Kilmarnock Boys' Brigade will meet on Friday, 20th September. Anchor Boys: For boys aged 5+ and in P1 to P3, 6.00pm at St Andrew's and St Marnock's Church Halls. Junior Section: For boys in P4 to P6, 7.00pm at St Andrew's and St Marnock's Church Halls. Company Section: For boys in P7 to S6, 7.00pm at New Laigh Kirk Halls, John Finnie Street. Music For All @ New Laigh Kirk. Let's All Sing on Sunday, 22nd September at 7.00pm. Do you like to sing? Here is the ideal opportunity to join with others who like to sing well known traditional hymns and modern Christian songs with a range of different accompaniments. Entrance is free but donations for Crossreach are welcome. New session of the Guild starts on Monday, 23rd September at 7.15pm in lower hall. Rev. David Cameron will lead us in Communion. The Kirk Session and Congregational Board are hosting this year's Coffee Morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, on Saturday, 28th September, 10.00am till noon, in the John Finnie Street hall. Tickets are now on sale. Donations of items for the bottle stall and raffle prizes will be very much appreciated, and can be brought to church next Sunday. The hall will also be open on Friday, 27th September from 12noon till 3.00pm for donations of prizes, bottles and home baking. NLK Walking Group’s September Monthly Walk will take place around Irvine Harbourside on Sunday, 29th September, weather permitting. Meet at 2.00pm in the car parking area in Harbourside, just beside the Maritime Museum entrance to the Puffer Cafe. Everyone welcome for the last but one walk for 2019. Fellowship of Kilmarnock Churches. Service on Sunday, 29th September at 7.00pm in New Laigh Kirk. Theme will be "My Homeless Neighbour", echoing the support which many local churches give to the work of EACHa (East Ayrshire Churches Homelessness Action) in relieving the distress caused by poverty. Everyone welcome. Highlights Klub will resume on Monday, 30th September at 8.00pm in upper hall. Fairtrade Wine Tasting. New members welcome. Found Property: Two items of jewellery and some coins were found on the pathway outside the Church after the 9.30am service on Sunday, 4th August. If they belong to you, please contact Ken Stewart. Thanks to everyone for the kind donations to the Ayrshire East Food Bank. In short supply just now are tinned rice and custard; fruit; tinned tomatoes; tinned meat. All the donations are very much appreciated by the families who receive the emergency food parcels. EACHa runs a drop-in for homeless and vulnerable people in our John Finnie Street halls on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. On offer is food, friendship, advice and hope for the future. Volunteers are always welcome, to help prepare the food or to make our guests feel welcome. Church Open and Welcome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. We urgently require a pool of volunteers, especially men, to welcome the visitors on a rota basis. We are particularly short of volunteers on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you can help even occasionally, it would be most appreciated. Please speak to Helen Colman. Remember that the more volunteers there are, the less often you will be on duty! Open Doors. New Laigh Kirk will be opening its doors to all on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. The Church will be open for those who want to come for a period of solitude or reflection; to see the stained glass windows from the inside; or to find out some of the history of the church and town.
