New Laigh Kirk A Place to Belong

Welcome to Worship Sunday 30th September 2018 Minister: Rev. David S Cameron Session Clerk: Derek I’Anson Organist: Martin Sharp

Harvest Thanksgiving

Welcome A very warm welcome to worship this morning from all at New Laigh Kirk to A New Season. We are delighted you accepted our invitation to join us for our Harvest Thanksgiving Service and hope you enjoy worshipping with us. Please make yourself known to those sitting beside you and join us for tea and coffee served in the church immediately after the service. Thank you to all who brought produce to our Harvest Table this morning. These goods will be presented to the Salvation Army for distribution to people in our town who need help and assistance to feed themselves and their families. Ask God’s Blessing on our donation today. Volunteers are required after the service to help pack the donations.

New Laigh Kirk - a place to belong You will see that there are many people of all ages seeking to serve within New Laigh Kirk as well as the wider community. As part of the family of God and gifted with many and varying talents, we try to use these to deepen our faith, care for each other, and to spread into our town and parish the good news of God’s love for all. Whether you are a guest or regular attender we invite you to find your welcome place among us, a place to belong, to join in regular worship, to join in the life of our Kirk in whatever capacity and in your own appropriate way. May God richly Bless you in your worship today.

Order of Service Introit Thanksgiving carol Welcome and Intimations Call to worship Creation sings the Father’s song; He calls the sun to wake the dawn

And run the course of day Till evening comes in crimson rays. His fingerprints in flakes of snow, His breath upon this spinning globe, He charts the eagle’s flight; Commands the newborn baby’s cry. Hallelujah! Let all creation stand and sing, “Hallelujah!” Fill the earth with songs of worship; Tell the wonders of creation’s King. Creation gazed upon His face; The ageless One in time’s embrace Unveiled the Father’s plan Of reconciling God and man. A second Adam walked the earth, Whose blameless life would break the curse, Whose death would set us free To live with Him eternally. Hallelujah! Let all creation stand and sing, “Hallelujah!” Fill the earth with songs of worship; Tell the wonders of creation’s King. Creation longs for His return, When Christ shall reign upon the earth; The bitter wars that rage Are birth pains of a coming age. When He renews the land and sky, All heaven will sing and earth reply With one resplendent theme: The glory of our God and King! Hallelujah! Let all creation stand and sing, “Hallelujah!” Fill the earth with songs of worship; Tell the wonders of creation’s King.

Each evening begins with tea, coffee, soft drinks and cake, followed by a talk on an aspect of Christianity and then a discussion based on what has been said. Alpha is for people who have never investigated the Christian faith before and for those who used to believe and for those who want to go over the basics of their faith again. It is an opportunity to investigate, to ask questions and to meet new people. This is an opportunity to explore the relevance of a life of faith. If you're curious we invite you to join us.
