Church news and activities The Welcome Team today and on Sunday, 3rd November is Janice Grant, Lesley Shedden, Pat Armstrong, Nana Lauchlan, Ellen Stewart, Alan Gregor, Neil Hamilton, Stuart Layburn, Tom Dalziel, Margaret Ross, Annette McClymont, Gordon Armstrong, Anne Scullion, Miriam Patterson, Moira Goudie, Robert Clark and John Richmond. Worship on Communion Sunday, 3rd November will be conducted by the Minister beginning at 11.00am and 2.00pm. The Kirk Session meet prior to the service at 10.40am in Session Room. Duty elders serving communion should meet at 9.50am in church. All Age Kingz Kidz event will take place in the halls from 10.45am to 12.05pm. Elders who have not ordered the Kirk Session photograph may do so now. If you have ordered, then a payment of £3 can be made to Margaret Patterson or Derek I'Anson. Fellowship of Kilmarnock Churches. Service TONIGHT at 6.30pm in Hurlford Church. This will include a film on John Knox, which won a BAFTA New Talent Award, an unusual accolade for a Christian film. Everyone welcome. 2020 subscriptions for Life and Work are now due at a cost of £33.60 this year. This sum should reach Stephen Brown by TODAY, Sunday, 27th October. This is the final date for placing orders. NLK Walking Group’s final monthly Walk for 2019 - at Craufurdland, Fenwick, has been rescheduled to take place THIS AFTERNOON, meeting at 2.00pm in the car park beside The Laird’s Table restaurant at Craufurdland. We will return to the restaurant afterwards for coffee and chat. Anyone requiring, or who can offer transport, please speak to Ellen Stewart. Highlights Klub. Fashion Show by Bonmarché on Monday, 28th October at 8.00pm. This will be held in lower hall. Tickets cost £3.50. Tots Praise will meet on Tuesday, 29th October at 10.15am in lower hall. Music and Movement will meet on Tuesday, 29th October at 2.00pm in upper hall. Guild of Friendship will meet on Thursday, 31st October at 2.00pm in lower hall. Musical afternoon with S M T. Articles, notices and photographs are now required for inclusion in November issue of Magazine (which will be available for distribution on 24th November). These may be typed, handwritten or word-processed and sent as email attachments to the Editor or placed in Magazine pigeonhole in Session Room. Articles in Word format (Calibri 12 preferred). Final date for submissions is Sunday, 3rd November. Guild will meet on Monday, 4th November at 7.15pm in lower hall. Guild Project “Join Up the Dots” Loneliness and Isolation. The next Men’s Club gathering is on Thursday, 7th November and we will be arranging a visit to Hampden Park. The Stadium tour plus Museum visit will cost £5 which is excellent value. We have also planned a lunch at Kilmarnock College on Thursday, 19th December at a cost of £15 per person. Please do consider joining us and let Ken Stewart or Derek I'Anson know if you can manage either of these events.
Music For All @ New Laigh Kirk. Music For All events continue apace with the next concert on Friday, 8th November at 7.30pm entitled Musical Memories, featuring the Aeolian Choir and International Soprano Kate Valentine. As usual this is a free concert and we are supporting Playlist For Life. Doors open at 7.00pm. NLK Fairtrade Group are taking orders again this year for Fairtrade 'Real Advent Calendars'. These are £3.99 each, CASH WITH ORDER only. Using the Order Form inside your Order of Service, orders must be placed with Charles Sim by Sunday, 10th November. Orders will be distributed after the service on Sunday, 24th November. For further information about the Calendars, please consult the flyer. The Bethlehem Experience will take place on Sunday, 24th November as part of the Kilmarnock Christmas Lights Switch On. We’re looking for some actors for the Nativity. We need both adults and children. There are some parts that require only a couple of lines to learn. If you can help, contact Ann Burley ASAP on Tel: 07709 676239. The Innkeeper’s Café will be open for business on the 24th November during the Bethlehem Experience. If you can help with baking, to provide sustenance for hungry travellers, could you please give your name to Margaret Brown. Any help to staff the café would also be greatly appreciated. There are still tickets available for the pantomime - Cinderella - for all adults in the church and their friends on Saturday, 7th December at 2.00pm in Palace Theatre. Tickets cost £15 for members and £17 for non-members. Please complete form in Magazine and place in the offering plate on a Sunday in an envelope addressed to Margaret Paterson, and marked "Friendship Group Pantomime." Please contact Margaret Paterson, Tel: 551288, if you wish to attend pantomime only or pantomime and tea. There will be a Christmas Tea in lower hall after the pantomime which is open to all adults. If you wish to attend the tea only, please contact Betty Johnstone, Tel: 542448. If you require transport to the tea, please contact Betty Johnstone by Wednesday, 27th November at the latest. EACHa runs a drop-in for homeless and vulnerable people in our John Finnie Street halls on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. On offer is food, friendship, advice and hope for the future. Volunteers are always welcome, to help prepare the food or to make our guests feel welcome. Church Open and Welcome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. We urgently require a pool of volunteers, especially men, to welcome the visitors on a rota basis. We are particularly short of volunteers on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you can help even occasionally, it would be most appreciated. Please speak to Helen Colman. Remember that the more volunteers there are, the less often you will be on duty! If you know of anyone in hospital please let the minister know by telephone, email or the pew cards provided.
