Church news and activities The Welcome Team today and on Sunday, 17th November is Margaret Brown, Elizabeth Milloy, Marion Short, Kirsty McCall, Murray MacGregor, Elizabeth McKelvey, Shirley Auld, Joan Young, James Lang, Steuart Dey, Anne Brown, Maureen Ward, John McLean, Janice Dey, Jay Ward and Murray McCall. Worship on Sunday, 17th November will be conducted by Rev. Alastair Symington beginning at 11.00am. Kingz Kidz and Trekkers should meet at 10.50am in church and sit together. Tea and coffee will be served in the church immediately after the service. Elders who have not ordered the Kirk Session photograph may do so now. If you have ordered, then a payment of £3 can be made to Margaret Patterson or Derek I'Anson. The 4th/5th Kilmarnock Boys' Brigade coffee morning raised a total of £1,231. A big thank you to all who supported us once again. NLK Fairtrade Group are taking orders again this year for Fairtrade 'Real Advent Calendars'. These are £3.99 each, CASH WITH ORDER only. The final day for placing orders with Charles Sim will be Sunday, 10th November. Orders will be distributed after the service on Sunday, 24th November. Highlights Klub. Chick Flick Movie Night on Monday, 11th November at 8.00pm in upper hall. Sing along to 'Mamma Mia - Here I Go Again', while playing Chick Flick bingo in groups. Tots Praise will meet on Tuesday, 12th November at 10.15am in lower hall. Music and Movement will meet on Tuesday, 12th November at 2.00pm in lower hall. Kirk Session and Congregational Board will hold a joint meeting on Tuesday, 19th November at 7.00pm in the lower hall. Music For All @ New Laigh Kirk. Should Auld Acquaintance on Friday, 22nd November at 7.30pm. Robert Burns' connection with Kilmarnock and Laigh Kirk will be celebrated, where Tam Samson is buried. Come and enjoy a feast of music and entertainment with a distinctly Scottish flavour. There will be medleys of Scottish music played by Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra, Robert Burns World Federation will be represented, Jock Wilson will entertain with recitations of the Bard's poetry and Gerry Fitzpatrick will entertain. This is a free event but donations for the restoration of Tam Samson's tombstone in New Laigh Kirk churchyard are welcome. Doors will open at 7.00pm. The Bethlehem Experience will take place on Sunday, 24th November as part of the Kilmarnock Christmas Lights Switch On. Actors for the Nativity Play should meet on Thursday, 14th November at 7.30pm in Session Room. The Innkeeper's Café will be open for business on the 24th November during the Bethlehem Experience. If you can help with baking, to provide sustenance for hungry travellers, could you please give your name to Margaret Brown. Any help to staff the café would also be greatly appreciated. Fellowship of Kilmarnock Churches. Service on Sunday, 24th November at 2.30pm at Salvation Army. A 'pre advent gathering' before the busy season of Advent, a chance to worship together and look at the story of Mary. Everyone welcome.
Friendship Group/Pastoral Care Coffee Morning will be held on Saturday, 30th November from 10.00am to 12noon in lower hall. There are still tickets available for the pantomime - Cinderella - for all adults in the church and their friends on Saturday, 7th December at 2.00pm in Palace Theatre. Tickets cost ÂŁ15 for members and ÂŁ17 for non-members. Please complete form in Magazine and place in the offering plate on a Sunday in an envelope addressed to Margaret Paterson, and marked "Friendship Group Pantomime." EACHa runs a drop-in for homeless and vulnerable people in our John Finnie Street halls on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. On offer is food, friendship, advice and hope for the future. Volunteers are always welcome, to help prepare the food or to make our guests feel welcome. Church Open and Welcome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. We urgently require a pool of volunteers, especially men, to welcome the visitors on a rota basis. We are particularly short of volunteers on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you can help even occasionally, it would be most appreciated. Please speak to Helen Colman. Remember that the more volunteers there are, the less often you will be on duty! The church will be open mid day during Advent and volunteers are required. If you are able to help cover the period of opening, in whole or in part, including on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 12noon to 2.00pm, please give your name to Helen Colman to enable our celebrations to be shared as widely as possible.
Open Doors. New Laigh Kirk will be opening its doors to all on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. The Church will be open for those who want to come for a period of solitude or reflection; to see the stained glass windows from the inside; or to find out some of the history of the church and town.
