Statement of faith

This creedal statement was approved by the General Assembly of 1992. It is used alongside the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed, ancient creeds of the Church professed at Baptism and Holy Communion. We believe in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, We praise God the Father: Who created the universe and keeps it in being He has made us his sons and daughters, to share his joy, living together in justice and peace. We proclaim Jesus Christ, God the Son: Born of Mary, by the power of the Holy Spirit, He became one of us; Sharing our life and our death He made known God’s compassion and mercy Giving hope and declaring forgiveness of sin Offering healing and wholeness to all By his death on the cross and his resurrection He has triumphed over evil; Jesus is Lord of life and of all creation We trust God the Holy Spirit who unites us to Christ and gives life to the church, who brings us to repentance and assures us of forgiveness. The Spirit guides us in our understanding of the Bible renews us in the Sacraments and calls us to serve God in the world We rejoice in the gift of eternal life: We have sure and certain hope of resurrection through Christ. And we look for his coming again in power and glory, to judge the world Then all things will be made new And creation will rejoice in worshipping the Father, through the Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit, one God blessed forever. Amen. Holy Communion

During the Thanksgiving prayer the minister will invite the congregation to say the following Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he O Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. The Peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all Hymn 192

All my hope on God is founded

Benediction As the elements and vessels are removed from the church and the Elders of the Kirk Session leave the sanctuary, the congregation remain seated and sing Hymn 76 How can I ever thank the Lord

Intimations Together We Pray is a national prayer initiative, a call to the Church to join together in prayer. This year, the General Assembly asked the Church to continue its focus on prayer and to pray about the life and fissional work of the Church of Scotland. We want to think about each other, our communities and the future of this Church as it responds and adapts to the changing landscapes of the world today. As part of Together We Pray, we are encouraging you to support this national prayer initiative to pray for our own congregation, pray for our town and community and for the wider church. You are invited to use the prayer booklet provided to use at home in your private and personal devotions. Worship on Remembrance Sunday, 11th November will be conducted by the Minister beginning at 10.45am. Please note the earlier time. There will be a retiral offering in aid of the Earl Haig Fund. Tea and coffee will be served in the church immediately after the service.

An invitation is also being extended to veterans and service personnel from the Merchant Navy, Land Army, Home Guard and other auxiliary services and to staff from emergency services and organisations which support veterans, service personnel and their families along with local dignatories. We are asking members of New Laigh Kirk to attend, whether or not they have any forces connection, to both welcome our visitors and to show support for our Veterans and serving forces. A few copies of the Order of Service in large print are available. Please speak to a member of the duty team if you require one. There is an induction loop system for the hard of hearing.
