Intimations Worship on Sunday, 18th November will be conducted by the Minister beginning at 11.00am. Kingz Kidz and TrekkersNG should meet at 10.50am in church and sit together. Tea and coffee will be served in the church immediately after the service. New Laigh Kirk will host a Veterans’ Service marking the Centenary of the First World War Armistice which will be held in the church THIS AFTERNOON at 2.00pm. An invitation is extended to members of New Laigh Kirk to join forces Veterans of Kilmarnock and their families in this Remembrance 100 Commemoration Service. The Welcome Team today and on Sunday, 18th November is Barbara Allan, Jim Lawson, John McDowall, Iain Sherry, Betty Johnstone, Elaine Bryson, Moyra O'Rourke, Iain Munro, Lilian Gillies, Emma Johnstone, Christine Bell, Donald MacLean, Ann MacLean, Alan Hewitt and Kevin Handling. 2019 subscriptions for Life and Work are now due at a cost of £33.60 this year. This sum should reach Stephen Brown TODAY. People who have ordered and paid for Real (FairTrade) Advent Calendars may uplift them from members of NLK FairTrade Group after morning service TODAY. There are a small number of Advent Calendars left. These cost £3.66. First come (with cash) - first served! There will be a meeting of the Pastoral Care/Friendship Group TODAY in the church immediately after the service. New Laigh Kirk is running an Alpha Course at The Coffee Press, Bank Place, which continues on Monday, 12th November at 7.00pm. Guild will meet on Monday, 12th November at 7.15pm in lower hall. Trefoil Guild with Margaret Hamilton. Tots Praise will meet on Tuesday, 13th November from 10.15am to 11.15am in lower hall. Music and Movement will meet on Tuesday, 13th November at 2.00pm in lower hall. Services of worship on Tuesday, 13th November at 2.00pm in Argyll House and at 3.00pm in Grange Nursing Home. NLK Kilmarnock Community Choir Project for all singers aged 16 years or over will meet on Tuesday, 13th November at 7.00pm in the church. Friendship Group will meet on Wednesday, 14th November at 2.00pm in lower hall. On the night of Saturday, 17th November there will be a Sportsman’s Gentleman’s dinner in the church halls. Ray Montgomerie and Rev. Neil Urquhart will be our speakers with a fully catered 2 course meal. Tickets £20 per person. As a celebration of Guild Week, Irvine and Kilmarnock Presbyterial Council will be holding a Songs of Praise on Wednesday, 21st November at 2.00pm in the church. There will be a Beetle Drive in aid of the Guild Projects on Monday, 26th November at 7.15pm in lower hall. Tickets cost £3 and are available at church from Guild members. Guild of Friendship will meet on Thursday, 22nd November at 2.00pm in lower hall. Come along and hear about CHAS. Friendship Group/Pastoral Care Coffee Morning will be held on Saturday, 24th November from 10.00am to 12noon in lower hall. Donations of bottles, baking and Christmas items would be greatly appreciated. Contact Margaret Paterson, Tel: 551288. 4th/5th Kilmarnock Boys' Brigade are having a Coffee Morning on Saturday, 24th November from 10.00am to 12noon in Howard Centre. Tickets available from any boy or member of staff. The Bethlehem Experience will take place on Sunday, 25th November 2.00pm to 5.00pm as part of the Kilmarnock Christmas Lights Switch on. This will include an outdoor adult nativity and some stalls set up to look like a marketplace in Bethlehem. We still need a couple of actors, people who can take charge of decorating a scene, people to wear 'Bible times' costumes on the day, and someone who could paint a stage backdrop. There are still tickets available for the pantomime - Sleeping Beauty - for the young and young at heart (over 60s) on Saturday, 1st December at 1.00pm in Palace Theatre. Tickets cost £13 for members and £15 for non-members. Holy and Humorous - An evening of light entertainment with Rev. John Bell will be held in Fenwick Parish Church on Tuesday, 13th November at 7.30pm. New Laigh Kirk has a public Facebook page which many people do not yet follow. We would like this to be a place to celebrate some of the great things we do in NLK, as well as be able to advertise groups and activities people can come along to be part of. Some more helpers are required to join the Audiovisual Team on Sundays and during the week in order to keep the system operating. Full training will be provided. If you are interested in joining the team, please speak to Helen Colman. If you have any used postage stamps or unwanted postcards with stamps attached, please give them to Esther Douglas as she is collecting for charities. Church Open and Welcome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. We urgently require a pool of volunteers, especially men, to welcome the visitors on a rota basis. We are particularly short of volunteers on Wednesdays. If you could help even occasionally, it would be most appreciated. Please speak to Helen Colman. Remember that the more volunteers there are, the less often you will be on duty! The church will be open mid day during Advent and volunteers are required. If you are able to help cover the period of opening, in whole or in part, including on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 12noon to 2.00pm, please give your name to Helen Colman to enable our celebrations to be shared as widely as possible.
Open Doors. New Laigh Kirk will be opening its doors to all on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12noon to 2.00pm. The Church will be open for those who want to come for a period of solitude or reflection; to see the stained glass windows from the inside; or to find out some of the history of the church and town.
