Why is a Local Bank Important to the Community? 1st Capital Bank is a locally owned community bank with offices in King City, Salinas and Monterey. As a true community bank, we aim to enhance the quality of life in the local communities we serve. At 1st Capital, giving back to our community is an integral part of our corporate culture. It is also a large part of what differentiates us from big bank competitors. During 2013, we extended over $3.5 million in loans and security investments specifically to benefit the less fortunate in our market area, including a partnership with the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation to facilitate increased safety and security for low income seniors and families. As a local bank, we are only as strong as the communities in which we do business. Since inception, the Bank has invested thousands of dollars in our communities through charitable donations to nonprofit and other local programs. In addition to our monetary donation programs, we encourage our employees to volunteer in their community and provide 40 hours of paid time for each employee to support the organization

of his or her choice. Our goal is to have every employee directly involved in their community, serving our local nonprofits and making a difference in the neighborhoods we serve. As a community bank, we are able to provide our clients with customized solutions, local decision making and an in-depth knowledge of our local markets. We continue to grow by staying focused on our vision to build longstanding

relationships with our clients through a partnership that presents integrity, innovation and expertise. In everything we do, we strive to be a good corporate citizen. To learn more about 1st Capital Bank, please call our King City office at (831) 385-8900, drop by our office located at 432 Broadway Street, or visit us online at www.1stCapitalBank.com.

y name is Christian Aparicio. Many of you may already know me, however many of you might not. A little bit of my background I am a King City long term Resident, I am 23 years old. I used to work as the assistant for Chamber manager Cindi Mora in 2012. In 2013 I left my job position due to School. I enjoyed working with the Chamber Manager and Board of Directors. Cindi and I kept in touch through the year, and one day I received a surprise call from the Chamber asking for my help temporarily while Cindi was away on maternity leave. To clarify I am here temporarily until Cindi’s return back to the Chamber. I enjoy working with the community and helping out with whatever I can for the Chamber. Feel free to stop by and say hello at the office or give us a call at the Chamber office with any questions or concerns. Thank you all

(Continued from page 1)

released final tangible asset, repairs and supplies regulations. These regulations provide a detailed framework for determining whether to expense or capitalize costs incurred for (1) materials and supplies, (2) repairs, maintenance and improvements, and (3) other tangible asset costs. These new rules could have an impact on a significant number of taxpayers and may require filing for changes in accounting methods. These rules allow taxpayers to change treatment of fixed assets, repairs and supplies without having to amend returns. All business taxpayers will be required to comply with the final regulations for their first tax year beginning on or after January 1, 2014. Although many small

businesses may not have changes required on their tax returns, owners should at least assess how these new regulations apply to their returns. The Hayashi Wayland team is ready to help guide you through the complexities of these new regulations. Tax time can be stressful, but that is why you have us. The professionals at Hayashi Wayland are here to assist you with all of your financial and accounting needs each tax season and beyond. We stay knowledgeable about ever changing tax laws and will make sure your return is prepared accurately and timely. Let us take the headache out of tax time.
